I slowly dusted the armor that Bugder had rested within. His bones fell to the floor as they made repetitive clinks and clatters against the stone ground. I felt a sense of revulsion wash over me before I silenced my own feelings.

This is only because I didn't have the power to stop them.

This is the punishment for my sin. My weakness resulted in the death of someone that this world cared for. How dare I fail them?

Once the last of Bugder's bones fell to the floor, I accumulated them within a pile and created a flame within my palm.

"I know this isn't exactly glamorous, but in my world we call this a warrior's pyre." I spoke aloud. My voice echoed throughout the smithy without anyone else to answer me.

I gently placed my flame on top of the pile and backed away a few meters.
