Alex did his best to take Steve's advice to heart. He wanted to put his past behind him and more fully live in the present. He had been doing a great job of that before all of this family drama happened and wanted to get back to that point!

He needed to relax so on Saturday night after he finished work he got Ethan to babysit Emma for a while so he and Claire could go out alone. They ended up going to Kimball's because it would be closing for the season soon.

He was thoroughly enjoying his time with his wife until he saw a horribly familiar face. With how often he had stared at her profile picture on Facebook, he would recognize it anywhere.

His pathetic excuse for a mother was here with her new family. Her children appeared to be ten and eight if he had to guess and her husband smiled softly at the three of them as they ate their ice cream.
