Capítulo 25: Careful Planning!

Both Gan and the Fatman made their way over to the battlegrounds. The place wasn't far nor was the battle area that big. In fact, it wasn't nearly as spacious as a Gym Leader Field. Upon arrival, they spotted the cage Grimer was in.

Of course, before coming here, he had to pay by going to a Reception Desk. They took inventory of what was being sold and what was being brought in, and how many there were. Gan paid ₱12,000 for the 2 pokemon, which he saw as a good deal.

Two men were on standby with a Pokeball each attached to their waistline. If things didn't go so well, they would intervene and put a hold on the situation. They were wearing gas masks to cover their faces, they were ready for the Fatman's queue to open the cage.

"Are you ready?" The Fatman asked.

"Yeah, open it up." Gan wanted to get this over with. He needed to head to the Pokemon Center soon after.

The two men with masks looked at each other and nodded before opening Grimer's cage. Once Grimer's cage was opened, in no time, its horrible odor spread across the area.

"Grimer!" Emerging from its cage, its big white eyes leered in all directions. At some point in time, this Pokemon was to be hunted and exterminated because of how hazardous it was. Polluting waters, it had hundreds of different poisons inside of its body, which acted as its vitality.

Gan didn't say anything and tossed his Pokeball nonchalantly. There, emerged Koffing, this was the best choice to fight against Grimer. Grimer was faster than Koffing and it had a level advantage against it, but Koffing could float out of Grimer's range.

All of its moves weren't effective against Koffing, and it could most likely just dodge them. Grimer saw the challenge, it didn't waste time and launched a Sludge attack against Koffing.

Koffing spun away from the Sludge attack, and dodge acrobatically.

"Will-O-Wisp!" At that moment, Koffing puffed and blew a blue wisp of fire out of its mouth. It quickly flew towards the target that is Grimer.

Grimer didn't just sit around, but just when it wanted to dodge, Gan had Koffing follow it up with a flamethrower. Grimer was hit, it wasn't the fastest but it still had high sp. defense. Flamethrower came in contact with the will-o-wisp and pushed the attack faster towards Grimer.

A purple fire pillar sprung up, causing the temperatures to jump. The fire cleared but Grimer was still standing strong. However, its body was suddenly engulfed in flames for a second before diminishing.

"Hmm, what was that, the fire had already cleared. It must be what I think it is, right?" Gan unconsciously asked.

"What you're probably thinking is right, it's suffering from a status effect. You burned it." The Fatman suddenly said.

"I thought so." Gan nodded and looked back at the battlefield. He could see fire effects coming from its body, but it only did the damage once Grimer was engulfed in the flames. These effects only showed that it was burned and that was all.

Grimer's eyes went wide seeing itself, then it looked at Koffing and spewed out poisonous gas!

"Oh, s**t!" The people from before hurriedly cleared the area after seeing the poisonous gas.

"Go right through it and attack it head-on!" Koffing wasn't afraid of poisonous gas, nor was it affected by the odor of Grimer.

"Once you get into its face, use another Flamethrower at point-blank!" Koffing rushed over as fast as it could in order to attack. Grimer didn't show any sign of stopping, it was letting out large amounts of poisonous gas.

This caused many of the people around to have distorted expressions. Grimer wasn't stupid, it probably knew it was going to lose, so why not poison the few people around here while it could?

Koffing emerged from the poisonous purple cloud and shot a flamethrower directly into the face of Grimer. Grimer tried to switch its attack by tackling Koffing, but the Flamethrower was already upon it.

Koffing continued to spew flames until it shrunk and had to catch its breath.

Koffing backed away, but Grimer was still able to fight. However, it didn't look like it would last long. Gan had to wait for at least 5 to 7 seconds to use another flamethrower, so Koffing backed away.

Grimer's body lit up in fire again, indicating that it was suffering from its burn. It took the time to shoot a sludge at Koffing while it was floating away.

"Protect!" Gan called out hurriedly.

A barrier formed around Koffing's body that completely blocked off the Sludge.

"Hehe, give it another flamethrower!" Gan laughed at Grimer's seemingly desperate assault. It was once again engulfed in flames; this time it looked like it was turning into a pool of mud waste.

"Oh!" Gan took a Luxuryball and tossed it at the Grimer, it seemed to be at its limit. Grimer was quickly encapsulated, it shook once, then twice before eventually shaking one last time... being caught.

Gan quickly recalled Koffing but he didn't go to pick up the Luxuryball right away. Many people came running in with hazmat suits, but they were of good quality this time. Their job was to clear this poison out, no one could see it but it was still there.

Someone came over and handed Gan his Pokeball. He had already left the place once Grimer was caught. His mask wasn't of good quality, so he could get poisoned if he wasn't careful.

Gan was guided out of the Black market afterward, he was rushing out but he had seen many items on his way out. What really stuck out was a pink orb, Gan identified it as a [Life Orb]. You could attach these types of items around your Pokemon's neck in order for it to use it.

Gan exited the worn and torn-down house, there was no telling how long he was down there. The sun was setting at this point, so he quickly left for the main part of the city. Gan made it to the Pokemon Center before night.

"Oh, my, that's a really pretty Pokeball!" Nurse Joy complimented the Loveball, it had a large heart over the button of the Loveball and it was pink.

"Thanks but the Pokemon inside needs serious treatment, tell me how much it's going to cost." Gan went straight to business due to Growlithe's situation.

"Oh?" Nurse joy's eyebrows lifted, then Gan handed her the Loveball.

The nurse at the front desk handed it to another nurse to do a quick check on Growlithe. As for the others, he just had Nurse Joy heal them with the machine she had in the back.

Gan waited in the lobby of the Pokemon Center, there were some trainers going through the Pc in the Pokemon Center to withdraw their Pokemon. He suddenly recalled his last wait in the Pokemon Center in Celedon City.

He had read up on the Elite 4 and learned quite a few things. There was no Champion for the Kanto Region, just an Elite 4. Some of the Elite 4 members like Bruno and Lance were working two jobs.

Bruno was also an Elite 4 member of Johto, while Lance was the Champion of Johto. The team Lance and Bruno used for both Leagues was different. Lance seemed more serious about being the champion in Johto—rather than an Elite 4 member in Kanto.

"It's reasonable." Gan understood as much. Lance being champion was a serious, and important job.

Koga had yet to become an Elite 4 member of Johto, he was still currently a Gym Leader.

"Have you heard? I heard Professor Oak is setting up some prodigies to challenge the League, they leave from Pallet Town in a week!" A teenager around the age of thirteen or fourteen said excitedly.

"Yeah, I know one of the guys, he's pretty arrogant but he's Professor Oak's Grandson." One of the boys nodded and said.

"Dang, you said one of them? How many of these Prodigies are there?" One of the boys asked in surprise.

"I heard there're 8 of them, 4 girls and 4 boys, they're all 15 and ready for adventuring!" The boy smiled, he couldn't wait for his adventure.

"Just one more year and I'll start my Pokemon journey and become the Champion of Kanto!" The boy raised his head with pride.

"Haha, you probably won't even beat the first Gym Leader near this city, what a joke!" The group of boys started to laugh at him, those were some big dreams he was having!

Gan listened, he was surprised, there were 8 trainers coming out of Pallet Town to travel Kanto? They were tasked with completing the Pokedex—while beating Gym Leaders and eventually challenging the League.

"So who is it, is it Red, or will it be lame old Ash?" Gan wondered to himself. This didn't change his plan to rob Professor Oak, he just needed to wait for his Team Rocket Uniform.

"Hmm, I need more than just my Pokemon for this job, I'll need some tech as well." Things were changing, he wanted to purchase a jet pack to escape more easily.

This meant he would actually have to head back to Celedon City. He needed to turn these Pokemon in and get his Merit Points to buy such tools.

Gan continued to wait, he just browsed through a few magazines about the latest fashion. Nurse Joy called him over since his Pokemon were fully healed. Gan looked at his Pokemon with a smile, he now had 3 Pokemon added to his Team Rocket Party.

"Hmm, I should head to Lavender Town after robbing Professor Oak's lab, this will do." Gan smiled thoughtfully to himself, as he put the magazine back onto the bracket.

"Sir, we need to talk to you about your Pokemon's state." Suddenly, a nurse with green hair came out and called Gan over.

Capítulo 26: Growlithe's Situation!

Gan walked towards the nurse that called him over, she was holding a clipboard with a few documents on it. Judging from her expression; the situation wasn't looking to be good, and this caused Gan to worry.

If such a talented Growlithe were to die, that would hurt him and his pockets, so he wasn't happy either.

"So, do you want to hear the good news or the bad news?" The Nurse sighed and asked.

"I'll take the bad news, then hear the good news to cheer myself up." Gan nodded and said.

"The bad news is, there is no good news and the bad news is that your Growlithe has [Liver Disease]and [Malnourishment]." The nurse said coldly.

"....." Gan was speechless from too many things she had said in one sentence.

"To actually allow something like [Liver Disease] to reach such a critical state, what kind of trainer are you?" The Nurse was very upset, what trainer would allow their Pokemon to reach this state and not stop this earlier on?

Thus, she viewed Gan very poorly, she even had him wait a while because of how mad she was. They had already checked Growlithe a while ago and identified what she had, so they kept Gan waiting on purpose, but he'll never know that.

"I found that Growlithe abandoned in Viridian Forest, I'm from Celedon City. I was coming from Pewter City when I passed through Viridian Forest and discovered that Pokemon." Gan explained, he was lying, but he wasn't lying about getting this Pokemon as it was.

"Hmm...." The nurse looked at Gan suspiciously, it was against the law to treat Pokemon like this, it was basically [Animal Cruelty], but in this case; [Pokemon Cruelty].

"I got witnesses, you can question the people at the [Viridian Forest Outpost], they saw me." Gan had his alibi, so he wasn't worried if they got serious about this matter.

"Hmph! I'll need to see your trainer ID if you're a trainer. If you don't have one, I'd like to see your parents about this." The nurse still appeared to be mad but Gan didn't think too much about it and just gave her his ID.

"What? You have a [Gym Badge], and it's from Pewter City Gym!" The Nurse was stunned, he was a genuine trainer, and a good one to have gotten his first Badge. The boys from before, who were initially chuckling at Gan's misfortune had expressions of shock.

Gan's ID was updated by Brock, to be exact; the old man that worked for him at the front desk. He edited it, and it showed the [Gym Badge] he earned from defeating Brock on his ID, it was now displayed for all to see.

"I-I'm.. sorry about before." She finally believed Gan, she had no choice; this was a genuine ID with a Badge Icon on it.

"You're good, just tell the situation on Growlithe." Gan could care less about her anger from before, it just showed that she cared deeply for Pokemon.

"Well, [Liver Disease] in Dog type Pokemon has many symptoms." The Nurse began to explain many things that came with Liver Disease. It was Depression, Abdominal bloating, Jaundice, and a loss of appetite.

It described Growlithe well when he remembered how it acted. Gan concluded and speculated that its trainer found out about its disease, and abandoned it soon after.

"Okay, what can you guys do to fix it?" Gan frowned and asked.

"Well, we're going to have to open her up and conduct surgery; this is the only way to save her." The nurse could only shake her head when she remembered Growlithe's expression.

"So, how much is that going to cost?" Gan scratched his eyebrows asking this question.

"Hmm, it'll cost ₱14,000 for the surgery." The nurse said bluntly.

"Okay, it can be done, I'll pay now if you guys can start right away. Also, how long will it take, can guys give me a rough estimate or do you guys just know?" Gan wanted to get a few things done, but it wasn't that important compared to such a talented Pokemon.

"Three days, it'll take three days tops!" She pulled out a few papers that Gan had to sign, he paid for the surgery because he had no [Health Insurance]. The nurse wanted to prescribe some medicine for Growlithe; the first batch of pills was free but he'll have to pay after the first freebie.

He had never heard of an animal taking pills before, he heard of liquids they could take... but pills? Gan didn't question the Pokemon world and their medicine, it must be better than the medicine from his world.

Perhaps it was something that was common in his world, but he was unaware of it.

AN: Yes, animals take pills. Mc just doesn't know about it.

Gan walked out of the Pokemon Center, he now had ₱121,000 on him. Afterward, he walked over to the street where stalls were set up earlier. This street was now vacant, but Gan could still see Pidgeotto and Butterfree watching and guarding the stall.

Gan pulled out some food and water, then fed the two before walking into the large tent stationed behind the stall. Once he walked inside, he spotted the Beedrill he had guarding the man. They were still watching the middle-aged man who had fallen asleep.

Gan gave them some water and food as he did with Pidgeotto and the rest before approaching the man.

"Why does it smell like piss over here?" Gan took a step back and found that the middle-aged man had pissed himself. Gan summoned Grimer and had it give the middle-aged man a good wake-up hug.

"Ah! What the fuck is this, it stinks!!" The middle-aged man almost passed out again. There was no telling when he had gotten the gag off his mouth.

Grimer wasn't bombarding the area with that terrible smell anymore, but when it hugged the man he could smell it clearly.

"Wake up, you've slept long enough—you even pissed yourself!" Gan looked at the man with disgust.

"He's the Pokemon I got from the Black Market, isn't he amazing?" Gan grinned and commanded Grimer to back away.

"Ugh!" The middle-aged man's face scrunched. Gan had one of the Beedrill cut the rope off of him. The man was surprised, how did this kid get access to the Black Market without running into trouble?

"I know what you want to ask, but it isn't any of your business. I suggest you shut up and forget that you ever saw me." Gan knew what he wanted to ask because of what he had to go through to even find and enter the Black Market.

"Yes, yes, of course, I never saw you, hehe!" For Gan to purchase a Pokemon from the Black Market wasn't easy, he must be connected to those gangs.

"Good, I'll be taking my leave, you won't see me in a while," Gan recalled his Pokemon and left without looking back.

'I won't see you in a while? How about we never meet again!' The man cursed in his thoughts.

...

Meanwhile, Gan checked back into his hotel, it was quite a long day today, so he was tired. He was still a teen, so he needed all of his sleep. Gan, in a similar fashion, released his Pokemon to sleep, except for his Grimer, it was to stay in its Pokeball.

However, he made sure to feed all of them before going to sleep. Of course, he had to take a bath first. Gan slept well, and time passed as well; both of his Pokemon had gone to sleep.

Eventually, the morning began to set in but Gan still didn't get up as the sunlight peered through his window shades. He finally got up 4 hours later, at this point it was already 11:02 am. Gan stretched and started his daily workout before eating some breakfast.

This time, he had some Farfetech'd meat for breakfast, it wasn't exactly breakfast food but it got the job done. After giving his Geodude and Koffing some breakfast, he recalled them and got dressed for the day.

"Hmm, I'm gonna need some more clothes, I only have so much I can wear now. I also need to wash my clothes, I can't keep wearing the same unwashed clothes." Gan scratched his head before mixing his clothes up, then he went to brush and flaws his teeth.

Gan only had a residency here for a day, so he wouldn't come back unless he wanted to renew it for an extended period. Leaving the hotel, he saw that the streets were just as lively as they were yesterday.

Gan was planning to head back to Pewter City, so he could get a ride back to Celedon to take care of a few things.

"Before going back to Pewter City, I need to head to Route 22 to catch a couple of Pokemon. I'm not too far away from reaching my 35 different species caught." Continuing on, he went off on his way; Gan had to admit that the Pokemon Center in Viridian was the biggest he had ever seen.

Gan didn't have a regional map, so he asked for a bit of direction on the location of Route 22. He knew it was West, but he didn't know which way was West. After getting some instructions from some old lady, he traveled in that direction.

He finally made it to Route 22, there was a brown brick road on this route that led to the League Reception Building. But you would encounter wildlife before being able to make it there, after all, there was still a forest around filled with Pokemon.

Gan could see all of the Pokemon near the forest and in the tall grass, most of the were Pidgey and Rattata. There were some Spearow from time to time, but this wasn't what he was looking for.

"Where are they, maybe I miscalculated?" Gan stood near a tree and watched on. These Pokemon discovered Gan but they didn't bother him, better yet, they didn't want to have anything to do with him.

"I'll stay for a bit longer and see, I can't be too sure, so I have to make sure!" Gan refused to give up and just stood by.

After waiting for an hour, nothing had changed, it was still the same Pokemon as it had always been. "I guess I was wrong, they should appear in a different spot in Kanto, it isn't a total loss for me."

Just when Gan had given up, a purple small figure appeared out of a bush.
