Capítulo 7: Today's the Day
"'Funeral. Such a dull word." Emily spoke. "it cannot help us feel better about our loss, but often worse. I surely felt this way at first. Thanks to my grandmother, I finally get it.
We are gathered to say our final goodbyes, though we may never be ready. It truely is so much more difficult than it sounds, but I know that Grandpa wouldn't want us to mourn him. He would want us to be reminded of our numerous, or is some cases few, memories of him. I would like us all to take a moment to remember those times... Please."
They bowed their heads. Emily remembered everything she ever loved about her grandfather, and there were many things. He was a kind and lovable man. Never rude, nor did he ever raise his voice. Remembering that this gentle man was gone... didn't impact Emily well. As the moment came to an end, a single tear rolled down Emily's rosy cheek. She plucked a georgous white rose from her long brown locks, and looked at it solemnly before placing it on her grandfather's casket.
"I would like to thank you all very much for being a part of Grandfather's life. I'm certain that he was greatful for each and everyone of you, as am I." She looked at her grandmother before she gave a saddened smile to the attendents.
She sniffled, wiped her eyes with her nuckle, and walked over to her grandmother who was in tears.
"That was a lovely eulogy, dear." Emily rubbed her grandmother's back and patted her on the shoulder to comfort her.
"Only the best for him. That's all he ever gave us." Emily sighed. She paused for a moment. "Let's go Grandma." They walked away from the casket. Away from the priest. And seemingly, away from happiness.
