Capítulo 30: Gold Digger
Deb Oh was watching the drama 'Gold Digger Eun-hye' which was an urban romance that featured a single mother struggling to raise two children after the death of an abusive husband. In the latest episode the woman's children ran away from home after dropping a note behind that read 'Marry now or lose us forever.'
"I now see why she became a gold digger. What is wrong with those children? I swear if those kids were mine I would have beaten the living day lights out of them! Do they think it is easy raising a child as a single mother? For heavens sake! Your mother didn't leave you at an orphanage to fend for herself! She took good care of you despite earning so little as a dish washer! Children in this day and age are so ungrateful and heartless!"
Immersed by the plot of the drama, Deb Oh was enraged by the recklessness of the protagonist's children. She could see that the woman struggled to provide a decent home for her children while receiving insults from other married women in her community.
It took taking a break from the drama to bring her anger down.
"If those kids were mine, I'll have given them the beating of their lives!"
Deb Oh could not help thinking back at the thought provoking episode of the drama.
