In the unrelenting glare of midday the only shadow is that which pools at their feet. A malevolent unblinking yellow eye stares down at me from the cloudless sky. Detective Looker and Emma talked in the telephone booth. It had been an hour since the detective's arrival in the blown up arena. The culprit, he immediately deduced who it was. He was confident to the point the clues were rather of no necessity for all he needed to do was to track down the perpetrator.
Emma told the detective everything Jenny told her.
"Emma," said the detective.
"Yes, Mr. Looker?"
"I need you to find Luna Evergreen."
"Been doing that since I step foot here."
"Yes, but before, you didn't have me."
"What do you mean?"
"I have a guess on where Team Rocket's headed to for their next scheme. This, are you familiar with Meloetta?" Detective Looker sent a picture.
"Yuppy yup. I've heard about its myth before too as well."
"Very good. I want you to go to the Arid Archipelago and investigate if you'd find any Team Rocket quarters there."
"About Team Plasma? Aren't I supposed to be finding them, and you, Team Rocket?"
"There's been a change of plans. Leave the hunt for the sages to me. Meanwhile, you go ahead and deal with Team Rocket. Understood?"
"But I don't have any tickets," excused lazy Emma.
"I'll buy one for you tomorrow."
"What's the Arid Archipelago anyway? I haven't heard of it."
"It's in the south of Unova, further from the Decolore Islands."
"And to what region does it belong to, exactly?"
"Unova of course!"
"Oh. Maybe you could buy tickets and go there instead while I find the sages."
"I'm as busy as you are. Finding Team Plasma is as difficult as finding Team Rocket. We haven't discovered at least the rooftop of the castle that turned into dust out of nowhere!"
Emma pouted. "Fine. I'll accept this task. But."
"What condition are you proposing this time?"
"I want a payrise! Please! Please!"
"Okay, deal! Go to the Arid archipelago, you'll have a five percent rise. Capture Luna, I'll make it fifty. Deal?"
"Deal!"
"Then it's official. I'll send to you the tickets once I buy them. Prepare your clothes."
"I'm going now?"
"Not now. I'm thinking tomorrow."
"So be it, Mr. Looker."
The two bade farewell and declined the call.
"Detective!" Skyla called from afar.
"Yes?"
"We've found this fragment." Skyla handed over a white towel. It was unfurled by the detective.
He took out his glasses and scrutinized it. "Seems like a shard from a ceiling."
"Does that mean we're close?"
"Could be. Either this was chipped off from the explosion or it is a sign that we're near the castle. There's still questions that need answering. Continue digging with the professor. I'll stop by at the pier for a moment."
"As you wish, detective."
