[Holy… High-Seraph Luceer is going all out with the Mission Rewards. She really wants to know everything about these creatures. Hmm? Why don't you seem too excited, Lilith? I see the Penalty is severe, but we're too deep into the whole Chain Mission; we really don't have a choice now… Lilith?]
'Oh, yeah, I don't really get your excitement. Other than the SP, I don't really get what's all the fuss is about. I'm not from that Heavenhole, remember?'
Alpha's excitement missed Lilith. In her eyes, it was just another misc. tool that would help her in the future to solve some obscure problems, 'I would actually want something that will help me avoid the trouble altogether. Like, don't they have a God of Time item that allows us to look in the future?'
Lilith noticed that most of the rewards she got helped her along the way. Even the SPs she had seemed like they were calculated, 'It feels like they are already know what's going to happen. Before something occurs.'
Avoiding troubles was far better than receiving an item that would allow her to survive one.
[Stop being ungrateful. You're already receiving good treatment. Don't be too greedy. Also, for the record, we do not have any means to
'How would you know that? You're not even amongst the upper echelons.' Lilith argued.
[Ahh-Anyway, what they are giving us is good. No, it's excellent. Wait, I'll just plaster the… descriptions of the rewards… really quick so you can understand what's at stake here and—there.]
A panel appeared before Lilith.
[Bloodline Crystal: an item containing a high concentration of unique variation lineage (Mutation). These items are created when a number of creatures die in one place and leave behind a strong will that desires to leave behind descendants. (Can only be used by Epic-Tier daemons and those Non-Tiered Creatures.)]
[Mana Eminence Gem: allows the complete control of mana in their bodies. Used to calm the body when mana goes into a rampage. It is also regarded as a vital piece in a Caster's Catalysts to invoke Tier-7 and beyond Incantation Spells.]
'The---these are overpowered Items.' Reading through them, Lilith's eyes glowed with anticipation.
[See? I told you so.] Alpha gloated as she harrumphed.
'…Hohoho, now that you put it that way, I'm getting riled up. But, this also means that this whole Darkness event is much more important than it seems.'
The reason why the Chain Mission appeared was because of the Wendigo before Lilith.
'Letza, or rather the High-Seraph Luceer is very interested in this whole thing. I'm intrigued and very pumped on doing this. But the requirement for passing is still a little vague for my taste… the penalty is very punishing as well.' Lilith stretched her arms, 'But no use complaining. I can't back out anymore. Let's just get this thing over. I want to sleep early tonight.'
Lilith manipulated the earth and propped up a chair. She sat on the makeshift chair as and was eye to eye with the Wendigo.
She raised her eyebrow, "You're going to cooperate? That's new, please, do enlighten me. What are you going to cooperate with? For all you know, I just wanted you to die."
"I will tell you whatever it is that you want to know. I will do everything if you promise that you let me walk away from this place alive, Herald of Beyond."
"You're going to help me?" Lilith ignored its use of little nicknames, On the side, she saw Mirsha sweating.
Mirsha helped in subduing the Dungeon to secure a place in accordance to Lilith's orders.
'She had been most cooperative....' Lilith shot a glance over at the Wendigo and then at the Chain Mission before returning to Mirsha. Lilith smirked in amusement as she looked straight at the Wendigo's eyes, "If that is all you are asking for, then you have yourself a deal. I will let you go out of this place alive."
Lilith was satisfied with the offers of the Wendigo. She didn't want to deal with it anyway, and torture was too exhausting. She was too sleepy to do such a taxing thing.
"Apo—apostle… what are you talking about? Did you not say you would save Will?" a shaking voice reverberated in the cavern.
Mirsha's eyes plagued with confusion, "You promised me."
Lilith could see the desperation those two jewels held. How she wished the words she heard were nothing but the illusions brought to her by the fatigue, "Please, tell me I heard wrong…."
Mirsha was desperately trying to climb up a faltering line. But, all that she saw, at the end of her rope, was Lilith's scheming smile.
"Sadly, you didn't. I really need some valuable information, and he's being so cooperative. He gets to walk out of this cavern alive, and I get my information. Besides, I already promised him an exit; I can't just take it back. According to the Goddess Letza, keeping my promises as an Apostle is a Must. I cannot abandon my words, even if it is to an enemy."
She was on the verge of exploding. Her anger rose to see the smug expression of the little daemon. Black flames flickered from her hallowed eye, "Did you not promise me that you'll save Will!? Why are you abandoning him now!?"
"You're wrong; when I said I'd save "him," I was mostly referring to the Wendigo. As for your husband, I am sorry, but—he was an afterthought from the very beggining."
A ball of black flames blossomed around Lillith, but Dhampy already moved to knock Mirsha out before anything could happen. The raging, grieving wife fell and was caught by Killa.
"Priestess, what should we do about her." Killa asked.
"Take her outside. But do not hurt her. She's grieving right now." ordered Lilith without even looking back at Mirsha.
Holding into a wisp of consciousness, Mirsha managed to raise her hand. Tears now went down her face, "Please, don't…."
Lilith stopped her from talking. With her eyes glued to the Wendigo, Lilith spoke, "You see, people like this will do everything in their power to screw with the ones who need them for something. If I torture him, he will probably just laugh it off until he dies, mocking me for not taking his offer earlier. I would rather avoid such an end. I'm sorry, Mirsha, but he gets to walk out of this place alive, whether you approve or not."
"...Will." Mirsha lost consciousness with a heavy heart.
"You have an awful lot of guard around you, don't you think?" the Wendigo said, seeing the dozen Shadow Troops looming over them.
"I do, don't I? And all of them would have their fangs, blades, and claws pointed at you the instant you try anything suspicious. Fail to cooperate, and I can erase your whole existence, so you would have to say bye-bye to the promise I made."
Even in the shadows, there were members of the Shadow Troops like Eve submerged in its murky dark depths. Dhampy gave Lilith questioning looks.
"Don't look at me like that, please. I did what I had to do for the best of our Village. His existence is a threat... I need him to protect us. Our enemies are not just the humans but those who live beyond those Gates."
'…' Dhampy did not respond; only unpleasant memories were unearthed. She did not like seeing the vile grasp of the world's truth slowly grabbing hold of what purity in words she found in Lilith.
[Dhampy: Loyalty -15]
'Seems at 100 Loyalty; I can still betray her trust. Even blind loyalty has its limits.' Lilith thought to herself, but she steeled her resolve, "Everyone, other than Dhampy, leave the cavern."
[Dhampy: Loyalty -5]
'...' Lilith shrugged it off.
Everyone followed her orders, leaving only Lilith, Dhampy, and the smiling Wendigo.
"Now, let's begin; what did you just call me? A "Herald of Beyond?" what kind of edgy name is that?" Lilith began by helping herself.
