Capítulo 14: Minds collapse

The sound of the door opening resonated. Mokuba stepped in front of me, going through the rather spacious hospital room. Her eyes turned instinctively to her brother lying on the bed. Kaiba. He looked very different. The face was with tubes over the nostrils. The arms were lined with more tubes that carried medicine through his veins. The skin was more pale than usual, and the eyes closed, resting. It was strange to see him so vulnerable, and a melancholy feeling ran through my body.

- He hasn't woken up yet. - Mokuba said in a morbid tone. He pulled out a chair for him and sat on it, his eyes still fixed on Kaiba.

I sat next to the boy, watching him. Mokuba was devastated. He didn't even have to say that to let me know. His sunken eyes, from lack of sleep or just out of concern and sadness, already betrayed his state of exhaustion. I felt so sad for the same thing that I almost let the tears fall. He was suffering for his brother, and it was all my fault.

Among the attempts not to cry, I heard a firm voice say near my ear. " Do not Cry. Keep strong". At the time I widened my confused eyes and looked around. I turned to Mokuba who now looked at me with even more confusion because of my strange reaction.

- What was Yugi? - He said looking at me childishly.

- Did you say something, Mokuba?

- No ... I just said that my brother wasn't awake yet. - He frowned slightly - Is everything okay? - He said in a really worried tone.

- Yes. I'm just tired.- He said, deviating from the subject, and ignoring the previous voice - You know, I was really worried by the news of Kaiba. I hope he'll be fine soon. Have the doctors here given any news yet? About him waking up or his state? - Said placing his hand over my face.

- I understand you. - He said quietly. - Well, the doctors say he will get better soon, that he just overloaded his system and I his brain for some reason has been having aggressive reactions that damage his nervous system. He scratched his hair lightly, and looked back at his brother.

- That's good news Mokuba. - I smiled slightly at him and he nodded. - But keep an eye on him. Even if it gets better, don't let him go around and want to do things already ...

- Haha ha. - He gave a childish laugh and turned to me - Well, you know Seto. It's not like he's going to listen to me about something like that. But maybe if I ask too much in the morning, I will convince you. He smiled, but it was a sad smile this time. - I'll do my best.

- And you can count on us if he doesn't obey. - I made a determined face and Mokuba smiled again.

- Thank you Yugi.

We both talked until our schedule expired. The nurse came in and told me to go. I got up and approached Kaiba's bed. I took one last look at it and wished with all my heart that he would wake up and get out of there. Mokuba accompanied me to the door and we said goodbye. I went back down the hall with the young nurse, and as I looked down the halls full of rooms, I heard that voice again next to me.

" The bathroom. "- She whispered.

I looked quickly at the nurse beside me, but the nurse didn't seem to have moved. Also, the voice seemed too thick for me to be the same ... well, out of the question then she spoke to me. I must be going crazy. But even though I was hallucinating, something inside my ego, in my deepest instinct, told me that I should follow the voice again. Then I turned to the girl, and in a polite voice I asked her where the bathroom was.

- Ah yes. Follow the corridor on the right and then enter the left and you will get there. - She smiled kindly and I thanked her.

I hesitantly followed the long corridors until I found the familiar world sign for bathrooms. I entered the men's room and it was quite empty for a hospital bathroom. I mean, I didn't have a soul there at all. I sighed and looked at myself in the mirror. I should have been going crazy. But I wouldn't put any weight on myself, I know it's the whole situation that is making me so frustrated. I created a voice to calm down ???

I turned on the tap and let the water drain. I ran my fingers over it, and brought it up to my face, washing my eyes lightly, which insisted that I was still quite sleepy and fallen. When I returned my face to the mirror, it was there. The spectrum was weak, but its features were unmistakable for me. The expression looked painful. But even with the scare I had with him there, I was able to take another one right away. Your eyes. One of them had a reddish iris, that red. His body gradually materialized, as he moved away from me and walked through the bathroom to the opposite wall.

- A-Atem? - For some reason my voice was shaky in your presence.

He kept his back to me, as if ashamed. Given the coloring of his eyes, I can imagine that he wanted to hide. But he came to me, so something important would have to say after all.

- Yugi. - His voice came out almost unrecognizable. That was why I couldn't identify him when he spoke to me in Kaiba's office.

- Your voice ...- I frowned.

- I know. It's different. - His face turned slightly towards me and the left eye, lilac iris looked at me. Then he turned without looking. - As well as my appearance. I'm sorry to see you in this state, but I need to give you news about Kaiba.

I remained silent, so he decided to proceed without delay.

- Don't be worried about him. Kaiba has a strong mind, and as you know, his love for this game and his pride ended up overcoming this fear installed in the subconscious during his days in the Shadow Realm. He probably won't have any more breakdowns, but it's a good thing he doesn't try too hard. Some memories and sensations can surface and make you… uncomfortable. - Atem shifted his shoulders.

- Ah ... that's great news. - Finally I was able to release my breath as soon as he finished speaking. What surprised me. I didn't know you were holding it. - I already talked to Mokuba about it. Well ...- I frowned and he turned his head slightly towards me. - By the way ... how do you know that? - The tone was childish.

But Pharaoh did not seem to understand the question as a curiosity, but an offense. The body turned quickly towards me and the two-colored eyes looked at me intently. His brow furrowed and his arms crossed.

- How dare you question my powers as a pharaoh? - The voice this time was simply someone else's. It didn't even seem to come out of my lips that I had already kissed so tenderly.

- No ... I didn't mean that ...- I was going to explain it, but eyes fixed so intensely on me, that the words never left my mouth.

His slender body took hold of me and began to approach on heavy steps, which echoed over the silent bathroom walls. I started to shrink little by little, I could hardly take my eyes off his, who were so different. I kept moving away, until I hit the damp wall and felt that I would be stuck there, with no way out. Among a despair and an affliction that took me, I started to water. The tears did not hesitate to soon run down my face, and I had to bite my lip to stop the sobs that wanted to escape.

And that was when his steps stopped. His eyes widened and he mouthed slightly, surprised that I was so afraid of his own figure. Pharaoh let out a light "Yugi" on his lips, and this time his voice was back. I looked up fearfully and could see that not only his voice, but the reddish eye was gone, turning the lilac color back over the charming pupils.

- I'm sorry Yugi. I couldn't control my words. Please, do not cry. - Despite talking to me, the same did not approach.

I looked up at him and saw that he was clutching his fingers so tightly that they were already white. I could feel his tension. He seemed to return to normal every time I got too emotional, as if it touched his good side and helped him to come back. Without being able to see, he raised one of his wrists in a fist and quickly punched the mirror. It shattered into bits and pieces, spreading across the sink in shards of pain.

Startled, I gasped my mouth. She could now see Atem's expression, she looked relieved, as if she had vented enormous anger there. His thick gasps came out of his lips, while he now raised his hand from how it was covered by the red liquid in his veins. I looked at the injured hand and slightly approached, taking his hand and opening the sink. I put it there, under the running water and let the blood drain. Some papers on the side served to stop the blood in the region, making a dressing. Atem's eyes moved over my face with tenderness, and I had to look away as I looked at his still-injured, paper-covered hand.

- I ... just wanted you to come back. - Tears were flowing slowly now. - I can't talk to you anymore, and you always seem to be in trouble. Please get back to normal. I'm tired of this. Tired of feeling your agony and not being able to help you.

Then the same suddenly, with delicate fingers, took my chin and climbed it, looking at me very closely. His hot breath now beat over my flushed face. He brushed his lips over mine, while his half-closed eyes seduced me. It wasn't long before I felt his warm lips touch mine. He exploited them without prudence, in an extraordinary truth. Then he released me and, still close to my face and in the thickest voice I can find, he uttered words that still lurk around my little head.

- You're right. Shouldn't have it away, you're the only one who can help me. So bring me back Yugi.

His nose touched mine, making one last caress before his body took on a spectral shape. He did not disappear, nor did he return to the millennium, just made a sign of silence with his fingers then, placing them on his lips.

- Someone is coming, Yugi.

It was probably the loud sound of the mirror cracking. I quickly started to cry again. I thought of something to get out of this, and I don't even know how. I'm usually one of those people that I can't hide or find an excuse for in such a short time. Maybe Atem helped me, God knows how. As soon as the first tears surfaced, the door opened wide. A silhouette of a male nurse entered the silent bathroom and he looked at her with some concern and anger at the same time.

- What happened here? - He walked to the sink and saw the shards of the ex mirror. - Ah, good guy ... did you do that?

- No sir. - Said in a tearful voice. - A slightly ... troubled boy entered the bathroom, and while I was washing my hands, he just punched the mirror and ran away in anger. - Said the tears wiped - It was scary. I could have hurt myself with one of the pieces.

The nurse checked that I was not hurt, more to know if I was not lying about my supposed guilt, than out of real concern. Seeing my visitor's bracelet, he ended up agreeing with the story and told me to be careful. He guided me to the reception and left me there, without further questions. I sighed in relief and could hear a muffled laugh from Pharaoh, but before I could ask him why he was laughing, he was gone.
