Capítulo 10: Chapter 9
" Ellie from the time you were brought here things haven't always been as they appeared. You were brought to us on a full moon, it was clear you had just been born you were covered in blood and still had your umbilical cord. It was an ominous night filled with the howls of demon hounds and of blood curling screams, it could of been a banshee. As you know you are different from others, we have never kept this from you, but you don't understand how different you are..."
His voice trailed off. He looked at Ellie. She was listening with a thoughtful look on her face. He took a deep breath and continued..
"When you were brought here a note was attached to you. There were only a few words on it. Keep her safe..Where she goes darkness will follow..Don't let her fall into darkness.. I had always considered it as a warning maybe you came from an abusive family perhaps your mother was a slave who became impregnated with you but wanted a better life for you so she left you here. I have had many more speculations but have never found out the truth. My home has always been here, Miranda and I have lived here for a long time and no one dared to leave a child on our doorstep for fear I would devour them..ha ha.. But still you were left here and with such an ominous note too. You were so small and fragile I didn't know what to do so I was going to send you to an orphanage where they could care for you properly, but you stared at me with those big eyes of yours and your tiny hand grabbed my finger with such strength...I had never experienced the feeling you gave me before... it was almost like you were begging me to stay with you... so i decided to keep you, after all I felt that you needed me and I you..."
He wipes away silent tears. This is the first time Ellie had ever heard Asmodious mention the past it was also the first time she had ever seen him cry. She wanted to comfort him but she had promised to wait til he was done.
"As you grew up a lot of accidents kept happening around you, at the time I mistook it for your childish mischief but I gradually learned that you didn't possess any magic, you didn't have any traits of normality such as a tail, horns or anything else your instincts aren't the greatest and there was nothing to show you had any hidden ability such as speed or agility in all these years, but magic sought you out that's why the accidents happened it wasn't your magic but something or someone else's. It came looking for you time and time again you were convinced that shadows were following you and the darkness was trying to eat you it all pointed to someone using magic but I don't know what their purpose was. I brought the triplets here from an orphanage their instinct were high level so if magic was happening near you they would sense it and alert us to it, they also gave you company and friendship and family. I know it was selfish of me to use them to protect you but I couldn't help it. You are my daughter. They sensed no magic but it kept happening. I found it very strange. Eventually I put a barrier up to stop magic now other than me no one can use magic inside the barrier...or so i thought.."
He looks at Ellie. As he expected she was upset to learn about the boys true purpose but he hoped she would understand that it didn't take away from her relationship with them.
"Since the barrier has been in place you have grew up here healthy happy and safe, so have the boys..But last night... I don't know what happened... but when I found you in the trees and brought you back you were inconsolable and cried yourself to sleep, that's when I noticed it..you had been marked by magic. If I'm not mistaken it was on the hand where you had injured yourself. The magic healed you. Inside the barrier however there should have been no magic at all. I don't know why you are the target or the intentions behind it but it follows you. I know your coming of age and I know you wish to leave as soon as possible to have your own life but I beg you to reconsider... you are different from everyone else and you have no immunity... against them or magic how will you protect yourself? If you stay with me I can protect you..."
He looked at Ellie. He told her everything he could. He waited..
