The passage of time continued flowing by. The tranquility of the atmosphere of the world outside was a contrast to the small world of the two souls.
A heavy sense of despair and regret permeated from them, engulfing the air around them like a suffocating cocoon.
Inside the secret room, Kyoya patiently holding on to Shouko whose cries hadn't subsided. Even though his heart had been torn to pieces due to her nonstop crying, he didn't force her to stop. His wide palm was gently stroking her head while his other hand firmly secured her in his embrace.
Just by letting her venting out her sadness and frustration could make it easier for her to breathe.
This was what he had imagined before. He had to face the consequences.
After another period of time, Shouko slowly pulled away from Kyoya's embrace. Her hands were still gripping tightly on his sweater.
When I was writing these chapters (and the incoming ones), I really hope I've properly conveyed how both of them would feel. The feeling of loss, despair and helplessness.
These are by far, the hardest chapters I've written. May some of your questions have been answered. More will come next.
