Capítulo 15: Mother

Ye Shuxin returned to her dormitory and since Dai Zhaoyi had already gone to take a vacation in their hometown so she was the only person left in the room.

It was no use, trying to sulk over the things that happened for her.

After that night, she began searching for jobs to earn money for days until she was able to find one, a waitress in a cafe.

"Welcome to Flora's Ca... fe..." she trailed off upon seeing the woman who entered.

That woman was the reason why she changed. She was also the same woman who helped her during her darkest time... a time where she lost herself.

"Mother..." Ye Shuxin was staring at the woman in front of her with wide eyes.

Her mother looked the same as ever, she was a beautiful woman that had her way towards men. Her black suit had a tailored look that was bold against her fair skin. She was right there, only feet away, but the presence she had right now was heavier.

Ye Fanfan, Ye Shuxin's mother, smiled as she looked at her. "It's been a while since I last saw you, my daughter."

Tears welled up in her eyes. She didn't care about what kind of person she was. She didn't care if she had once abandoned her.

She was the woman who took care of her, the woman who helped her when she was lost.

Ye Shuxin didn't hold back from hugging her longingly.

"You missed me this much, huh?" Ye Fanfan chuckled as she hugged her daughter back.

Her mother's timing was always right. She always appeared whenever she was having a big problem that she couldn't handle.

Ye Shuxin pulled away and grinned at her, "Are you here to give me money for my studies?"

Ye Fanfan raised a brow, "Do I look like a wallet to you?"

"Come on! You married a rich man, I never bothered your married life so can't you at least give me some mons?"

The room was every shade of grey, from washed out concrete to almost steel-blue. Every line was straight, every corner sharp. On the grey desk sat a desktop computer, a notebook lying open, and a stack of papers sitting under a turtle-shaped paperweight. In a corner, the air conditioner was blasting at medium.

Jin Mingze was wearing a clean cut suit. His perfectly chiseled face and cold eyes were looking down on the document he was holding. It was not a business file, instead, it was the report that Qiu Landi, his assistant made concerning Ye Shuxin's background.

She came from a poor family. Her mother was a prostitute and she was abandoned by her during her high school days and because of that, she was delayed for one year in college since she had to work to earn money.

Back then, he thought that Ye Shuxin might be related to Chen Rui but in the end, they weren't related to each other no matter how similar they look. There was no way that they could be twins since Ye Shuxin was younger than Chen Rui by five years.

Yes. There were people that looked similar to the point of being mistaken as twins whenever they stand beside each other but in the end, they were actually just two different people with no relationship with each other.

It looked like that was the case for Ye Shuxin and Chen Rui.

During the year that Ye Shuxin was working to earn money for college, she got into a bus accident.

Jin Mingze froze upon reading that part. His eyes darkened and he ended up gritting his teeth. The year and day were the same. Even the bus' license number... there was no mistaking it. It was the same bus that took Chen Rui's life.

Ye Shuxin was one of the passengers that survived the accident?

He clenched the document tightly. He could feel the same pain he felt when he found out that his wife died.

Every memory of his deceased wife played like a song in his head, repeating itself for what seemed like forever. He was lost mostly because he had lost a big part of him.
