Capítulo 5: 5: Akuma
At the Agrestes, Gabriel was busy planning the next collection of his line when Natalie suddenly came into his office with concern painted on her face.
"Sir.." she politely stopped in front of Gabriel who was moving around his fingers on the screen.
"What is it Natalie?" he replied in his deep voice.
"Lila Rossi is at the foyer."
Gabriel's hands stopped working. He sighed and relaxed his arms tugging them behind his back and faced Natalie.
"Bring her in." he said with no trace of delight in his voice.
Natalie bowed simply and immediately heeded the instruction. She opened the door and Lila entered the office.
"Such a surprising visit Ms. Rossi. How many times do I have to tell you that you have to set an appointment with me first before you come here?" said Gabriel in a very uninterested tone.
Lila walked to the window near Gabriel and gazed outside trying to ignore the stiffness of Gabriel. She pulls out her phone from her pocket and flashed him the picture she took earlier at the river. On screen was Marinette and Kagami laughing together while eating ice cream. Gabriel wasn't fazed. He simply took a glance of it.
"That is a photograph of Ms. Dupain-Cheng and Ms. Tsurugi. What of it?" he said unamused.
Unsatisfied with Gabriel's reaction, the girl immediately locked her phone and glared at him.
"I took a break from school telling everyone I was out to meet Princes from Europe and Asia. Yet here you are and you can't even keep your promise."
"I believe I made no such thing Ms. Rossi."
"Oh really? Are you aware that Adrien is dating that Kagami Tsurugi?"
Gabriel's eyes widened. He didn't want any sort of reaction to be seen from him, so he cleared his throat.
"I've heard rumors." he replied in a serious tone.
"Well, those rumors are true. You have to do something!" Lila snapped.
"I wish to not be part of any children's squabble." he said.
"Children's squabble?! What are you―"
"But this information will be gladly received. I will contact you for further instructions. If there is nothing else, you may leave."
Natalie immediately gestured Lila to the door and she was not impressed. She stomped angrily heading for the exit but stopped just before she could step out.
"I'll be waiting, Hawkmoth."
Gabriel ignored the demanding girl. The moment she was out, he sharply inhaled and released a deep sigh.
"Sir, I was about to tell you about Adrien dating Kagami this morning and―"
"It's okay Natalie. In fact, I think we can use this." he grinned with eyes of evil.
"As you command sir." she grinned.
"I'm home." the two heard Adrien's voice from the foyer.
"Get Adrien." Gabriel instructed promptly.
Natalie quickly got out of his office to fetch Adrien.
The boy was about to go up the stairs when he saw Natalie walking towards him.
"Hi Natalie, I'm home." he said smiling. The gorilla was right behind him.
Natalie nodded to the bodyguard and he smoothly went away. Adrien wondered what was that about.
"Your father wants to see you."
Adrien's eyes lit up. The boy hasn't seen his father for a week and was pleasantly surprised that he had spare time right now.
"Follow me." Natalie escorted Adrien to the hall.
Upon arriving, Natalie immediately opens the door to Gabriel's office. Adrien took a peek first then took a few steps in. There he sees his father gazing out of the window which delighted him. The door closed shut and the two of them were left alone.
"You called for me, father? It's nice to see you're home now." Adrien smiled and greeted from a far.
"Yes, yes. I've been busy lately for the coming fashion week in London." he glanced at the boy. "Putting that aside, I want to ask you something." Gabriel finally looks at his son.
"Is it true that you are dating Ms. Kagami Tsurugi?"
Adrien yelped inside. He knew news travelled fast but to reach his father a day or two after is quite amazing.
"Yes, I am father."
Gabriel did not respond. From that point, Adrien expected him to be scolded thoroughly.
"I have nothing against Ms. Tsurugi because she comes from a good lineage. She is also a well mannered girl suited for our family."
Adrien chuckles, "It's not like I'm marrying her already."
Gabriel glares at him which made Adrien stand sharp.
"Nevertheless, I don't want this to ruin your studies Adrien. You will still attend school as usual, but this does not mean you will be allowed to go out a lot."
Adrien's shoulders dropped. He already knew all this. It's just sad that no matter what he does, he can't do anything to convince his father that he's doing fine and that he should trust him more. All he could say was "Yes, father."
"Natalie,"
She entered in one call.
"Please escort Adrien to his room. And make sure he practices the piano before supper."
"Yes sir."
Adrien stormed out of the office feeling down. Natalie took a last glance at Gabriel before shutting the door close. Gabriel didn't like the idea his boy was dating right now. It seemed unnecessary. But for the sake of his plan, he'll tolerate it.
For now.
