When they came to the ship and saw busy people rushed in and out as they put loads of food inside the ship. Captain Chen rubbed his hands as he saw all the things going on.
Cook Tao narrowed his eyes and came behind him. He suddenly rose his head and slapped him. ''This is not my stuff. It's miss Bai's. Do not get any strange ideas. Understood?!''
Captain Chen held his head and turned around in surprise. ''I thought you wanted to buy stuff here?''
Cook Tao rose his eyebrows. ''Why would I buy it here if I can buy it directly by the producers for a five-time lesser price? Do I look as dumb as you are?''
Captain Chen remembered suddenly that his brother never bought stuff when they travelled. He sighed. ''Anyway, we will earn a lot of money for transporting these things.''
Cook Tao rolled his eyes. ''I give up. So, my smart brother, how much did you plan to take from her?''
''Well we lost a lot of silver as I had to pay for most of the people to travel further with carriage so I thought...'' But suddenly he felt a hit on his head again. ''Ayyyy, why are you hitting me?''
''It was your own fault for even taking money from them! Are you sending the fault at the little girl? Is our family so poor that we need to take it from her? This won't do, miss Bai, whole transportation cost will be nullified as we feel sorry for this blatant accusation. I am sorry.'' Tao turned his head towards Shu Ya and bowed deeply. When he rose his head he winked secretly making Shu Ya almost lose her composure.
She wanted to laugh so much. Her lips twitched and her eyes became watery as she tried to hold in the laughter, but on outside it looked like she was about to cry.
Even Captain Chen's heart became weak as he saw her face. He felt sorry for his words so he bowed his head as well. ''Sorry, miss Bai. My stupid... big... mouth...'' He hit his lips while speaking. ''We shall do as the brother said. All transportation will be done by us. Don't worry.''
Shu Ya nodded and rushed away towards her rooms while Tao held Captain Chen's ear and pulled him towards the captain's cabin. ''Come here, we need to talk a bit.''
Captain Chen was pulled by ear under the surprised eyes of passengers while Mingli and Mingyu stood there and took counted the bags and products.
With surprise, they saw the owner of the shop arriving as well and smiling at them. ''Are you miss Bai's people.'' As he saw their confirming nod he smiled brightly. ''Miss Bai bought many things and as thanks, we brought a hundred more bags of first-class rice as our thanks and hope that we will work again. Tell her that our store will provide her family in the north if she sends us a message. She is right, this winter might become a problem. If she wants we will send food, she just needs to find a way to let us know. We have our ways to bring it to her.''
He gave a letter to Mingli and went back to his carriage. Mingli left Mingyu counting the packages and rushed back to the room where he found a strange occurrence. Weiling stood in front of the door and cried silently.
''Weiling, what did I tell you before? What kind of mistake did you do this time?'' He looked at her in sorrow. Actually he liked this girl as she was the only one that wanted to join miss Bai willingly. But as it seems her real reasons were completely different than his and his brother's.
''I just... Don't worry about me. I will handle it well.'' She stubbornly turned her head away from him.
He just sighed and knocked on the door. ''Miss Bai, may I come in?''
''Enter. Weiling, are you still standing there? What about my water!'' The loud voice made Weiling Vince and she rushed away.
Mingli went inside and sighed. The whole room was filled with clothes and was a complete mess. ''What happened here? Did someone do something? I something is stolen?''
Shu Ya rubbed her temples. ''Weiling wanted to try out all the clothes I bought for her and lost track of time. She completely forgot about her duty. The room is messy as she didn't clean it up. Look, she even unrolled the silver silk I planned to give our elders. She begged me to give her the roll and when I tried to explain she became angry so I kicked her out. Find room for her. I can't sleep with her in the same room from now on. And go speak to her. If she continues acting like she was MY elder, she might as well pack her stuff and find a new place. I will give her enough money and she can just go. Or she can go now while we are in this town.''
She was furious. Shu Ya actually let it slide so many times. There were times when she felt close to Weiling so she let some minor things go, but when she thought about words in the past she chuckled. ''I am foolish as well, not noticing many things. Mingli, am I a bad person if I get angry? I didn't push her to become my servant, I really didn't. But if she doesn't want to be a servant, she should just leave now while she can. On the north, she might not be able.''
Mingli nodded and gave her a letter with an explanation. Shu Ya nodded. ''I need to thank Uncle Tao for this. Mingli, go speak to her. If she is unwilling it is fine with me as well. I am used to taking care of myself. Go...''
She was tired from all the walking as she had just a child's body. Luckily she ate enough food so she still had energy.
Long after a slight knock could be heard on the door. Shu Ya rose her head from the paperwork and called. ''Enter!''
