Kate silently watched as Yang Yi left the hotel. Although Yang Yi was feeling a bit reluctant and sad, he didn't know what he should say when bidding her farewell.
After boarding the plane though, Yang Yi's feelings of guilt and reluctance were swept away. The only feeling left was the excitement of facing a new, challenging life as a university student.
To evade the Destroyers surveillance, Yang Yi had to put in a lot of effort. No doubt, it was something accomplished by the Dark Knights, though. They wouldn't have survived until today if they don't even have such capabilities.
The seat on board the airplane was very pleasant since he was in first class.
Yang Yi was only accompanied by Danny on the trip and they sat next to each other. After the airplane had taken flight, he finally couldn't help but ask, "Old Zhang, you can now tell me which university it is, right?"
Danny was Old Zhang and Old Zhang was Danny. That was his code name while outside. Yang Yi wouldn't have made a mistake on that given his good memory.
Danny didn't bother entertaining Yang Yi. He just put on his headset and said, "I dislike chatting during a flight. It's going to be a long trip. You can either watch a movie or go to sleep."
Yang Yi was rather helpless about what to do. He was too excited to fall asleep. Thus, he could only watch a movie per Danny's suggestion or chat with the flight attendants to pass the time.
*****
The destination in the United States for this flight was New York. However, their final destination was actually Los Angeles. That meant they would still have to cross the country once they arrived in United States.
In the United States, there were a few training centers for spies. What the public knew about was the FBI training academy. Although the academy specialized in training special agents and spies, it was a place off limits to him.
Since he couldn't go to a professional school for spies, the only school Yang Yi could attend was a university with military courses. It wouldn't be a military academy but a university that offered courses on national defence, intelligence and homeland security. Although the specialized courses offered by the university were highly confidential, none of them were as dangerous as Danny had claimed.
Thus, Yang Yi was unable to guess where they were going. The only reasonable explanation he could come up with was it was going to be a privately-run secret training center or some place like that.
On the other hand, it was impossible for that type of secret training center to have more than three thousand students.
Could it be a training center run by Blackwater Worldwide? However, what could a spy learn from a Private Military Contractor? Yang Yi wanted to become an expert spy and a splendid special agent. He had no intention of participating in warfare or being a private security guard. Wouldn't that turn him into cannon fodder?
Yang Yi had no way of guessing it.
Although he was hopeful, he was also perturbed and confused. After a half day stopover in New York, they boarded a plane and headed towards Los Angeles.
Yang Yi finally fell asleep on the second flight. When the flight landed at their destination, Danny had to wake up a drowsy Yang Yi.
Yang Yi was still disoriented from the jet lag due to the time difference. He was still unable to adjust to the time difference when they walked out of the airport. Danny then stretched out his hand and said, "Give me your passport, phone and all your possessions."
Danny didn't bring any luggage with him on the trip. He obediently passed Danny his passport and phone.
After disposing of Yang Yi's possessions, Danny started to give off a strange smile.
Danny's strange smile gave Yang Yi an ominous vibe. Just when he assumed he had fallen for one of Danny's pranks, Yang Yi saw a tall robust westerner walking towards them.
"Hi, friend. Haven't seen you in a while."
Danny smiled and spread his arms wide open towards the westerner who was walking towards him, "Hi Raymond, it's been a while indeed."
After they hugged for a moment, the westerner called Raymond then said, "Everything is ready now. We're in luck. There was a suitable opportunity to get in straightaway. We won't even need to wait for a court trial and a verdict. In fact, there is also the opportunity to make a fortune."
Danny asked with interest, "Oh, is there such a good thing? Tell me about it."
Raymond answered while shrugging, "There is this Asian and he has been driving under influence. He caused harm to a family of three. Two suffered serious injury while the last one had light injuries. This guy then went to his ex-girlfriend and fired six shots. His ex-girlfriend nearly died from the wounds. Her face was also completely ruined. This guy is the son of a nouveau rich family. The family is filthy rich. They secured a settlement with the victims out of court. He will also plead guilty in exchange for a light sentence of five years in prison."
Danny frowned, "Five years? My plan was three years."
Raymond answered with another shrug, "What difference does it make whether it's three years or five years? Care to explain?"
Yang Yi was stupefied by what he heard. He couldn't help asking, "Wait a minute. Prison? Five years? What do you mean by that?"
Danny laughed it off in dismissal, "Yes, you heard right. The university you will be going to is the Pelican Bay State Prison. Originally, I want you to commit a crime to get you sentenced to two to three years in prison. Now we don't have to go through that kind of hassle. You get to skip being arrested and…"
Yang hurried replied, "Wait a minute! I don't want to enter a prison! Damn it! I want to go to school, not prison!"
Danny said with a face full of innocence, "That's why I refused to tell you anything before this. Look, you're already backing out. As long as you are able to learn, does it really matter whether you are going to prison or a university?"
Yang Yi answered in displeasure, "The difference is great! I will suffer a great risk of being deflowered there! That wouldn't happen in a university!"
Danny replied while giggling, "It's not really a big deal. The result would still be the same in England. It's just a matter of it being voluntary or involuntary."
Yang Yi was about to crumble. He replied in anguish, "I'm not British!"
With a deadpan expression, Raymond asked, "What? What's happening here?"
Danny replied with a shrug, "I just told him a scary joke."
After snickering twice, Raymond asked in confusion, "Care to explain?"
Yang Yi pulled his own hair while exclaiming in turmoil, "Damn it! Damn it! I was taken for a ride! Oh, fuck!"
Danny then said in a very serious manner, "A sense of crisis. This is exactly the place where you will have a sense of crisis. More importantly, the teacher you need is inside!"
Raymond spread his arms and said, "Life is incomplete when you have never been imprisoned, little friend. You will come to realize this soon."
Danny waved his hand while smiling, "Just ignore him. Let's get on with in. So, what is this thing about the Asian?"
"Oh, his dad is willing to pay a fortune to help his son to escape prison but five years was the best possible outcome. So, his dad is willing to spend another half a million dollars to ensure his son doesn't have to get imprisoned. Out of this half a million dollars, three hundred thousand dollars will be used to pay the way among the California police and warden. The remaining two hundred thousand dollars will be used to pay for a scapegoat to replace his son. The amount will be more than enough to find a Black but since he is asking for an Asian, I believe we can ask for a higher amount. At the very least, three hundred thousand dollars."
Danny took a deep breath and laughed, "We're very lucky."
Raymond also nodded his head in agreement, "Yup, we're lucky indeed!"
It was only Yang Yi who was languishing by the side, "Nope, it's not good. Not good at all!"
