Everything around her froze too. It's like she didn't expect this.  

It's not like she didn't want this, but, when a bride is selected, it means that they are already engaged. 

So,  she didn't expect him to propose to her and ask her to marry him.  When the ladies agreed to participate in bride selection they already agreed to marry him.  

"Sabrina, I have fallen in love with you not once but thrice. We have been meeting each other and parting away,  not knowing that destiny wants us to be together" 

"However, now I know that nothing can part us anymore…. not even if the whole world works against it.  I don't want to part away from you again. I don't want us to start everything again but continue this whole beautiful life with you. So, will you promise me and seal this promise with a sacred bond?  Will you marry me?" he asked.
