Capítulo 70: Plots, Ploys and Schemes VI

She wore a light blue dress that flowed down to the ground gently. It did not cling to her body like the other dresses women wore, so this was a bit refreshing to Jacob. What made her more unique than the others was her platinum-colored hair. Majority of the citizens in the world had brown, black, or auburn colored hair.

Her long hair was wavy and a portion swooped down over her right eye.

"It has been a while my lord."

"Indeed it has."

"Six years roughly? How have you been? Since you are here, you've stopped isolating yourself in your mansion. Feels good to be back in the real world huh?"

"I can't say that, but has it really been that long? Seems like just yesterday…"

Jacob led on not wanting to finish his sentence. He needed to make it seem like he was remembering something that happened in the past. This young woman could be anyone, and he did not know her name.

Luckily she was talking to him directly, so there was no need for him to address her by her name.

"What were you talking to my father about?"

Changing the subject, she asked him as her blue eyes watched lord Frost approach a group of men. The same group of men he wanted to introduce to Jacob.

'Ah, so this is Angelia.'

Jacob said to himself as he came to the realization that this woman was lord Frost's daughter. She barely resembles him, so she must take after her mother.

"Nothing of great importance, he was just worried about me is all. After all, I have spent a great deal of time alone."

"Well, in any case I am glad you are here."

"Me too. As a lady of house Frost I'm sure you've met all of the men and women here."

"Yes, father values relationships, it is something he takes pride in. Me and my brother have been in the spotlight since we were able to talk, many of the nobles here I've been acquainted with a long time ago."

"Impressive. Tell me, what do you think about this gathering?"

Chucking, Angelia turned her attention to Sterling.

"Tonight something interesting shall happen."

Jacob couldn't help but laugh at her intuition.

Something was going to happen tonight, but everything was kept close to heart so no one knew what the plans were. No one, but him.

"Oh?"

After Jacob's comment, Angelia smiled as she looked at him.

"And you'll be a part of it."

"That is something to say… why would I get involved in anything here?"

"I don't know, but I saw it. You should be careful, not everything is as it seems."

Crossing his arms, he couldn't help but look at her.

Angelia sounded very confident that she knew something he did not. Either she was pulling his leg and just playing around, or somehow she obtained information on something, but the thought of her being a mystic sounded closer, considering her word, 'saw'.

"So, you're a mystic?"

Angelia did not confirm nor deny his claim, she merely smirked.

Mages were rare, but they could still be found in the hundreds and thousands. However, mystics was a special class that was extremely rare. For every five thousand mages, there would be one mystic.

They were like fortune tellers in the modern-day world, except what they said usually came true. A mystic could see into the future, the only downside was they had no control over their ability.

The future they saw were possibilities that would happen unless something drastically changed it. As for the people involved, that was hard to tell. It could be someone they know, or someone they have yet to meet. However, at the end of the day, they would eventually be acquainted.

Seeing that Angelia did not reply, Jacob started to question lord Frost's motives. His daughter was valuable, more than he imagined. If he was smart, he would never marry her off, instead, he'd find someone to marry into his family.

If Angelia truly was a mystic, why would he want to marry her to lord Lezhalt?

Jacob put that thought in the back of his head for now.

Angelia smiled as she waved her hand towards an older man who greeted her from afar.

"We should meet later, there are some things I want to.. discuss."

Before she could walk off, Jacob grabbed her wrist.

"Why can't you just say it here?"

Looking down at his hand, Angelia signaled him to let her go - which he did.

"There are a lot of eyes and ears here, trust me when I say this is not the place. I'll tell you when, just come when I call."

Jacob did not like her, she was drawing him into her pace. She came, said what she needed and left before he had the chance to pull her into his tempo. Not to mention what she said caused Jacob to be curious.

There were a lot of things that were going on, he could not juggle them all at once. Maybe she would not call on him, and even if she did he need not go. Why would he go?

Debating on his next move, Jacob approached Sterling and his associates. As he did that, Baron Cecil left the main hall.

Sterling introduced Jacob to the people he called friends, there were six of them but none noteworthy. Their backgrounds were not impressive, at least compared to the men lord Frost told him about.

After pulling Sterling to the side, Jacob talked to him for a bit about his plan while also trying to extract him of more information.

Luckily, Sterling gave in and told him about the brotherly feud at Baron Cecil's estate. His twin sons were competing with each other over who was next in line. The oldest had the right to be named heir, but the younger brother had better achievements.

With Baron Cecil being undecided on which of his two sons should inherit once he is gone, the two started to fight. Sterling saw an opportunity with the youngest son and struck a deal with him.

He did not tell Jacob what it was, but only that he would benefit from it. Not just him but everyone allied with him as well.

After their discussion ended Jacob walked around the main hall and explored the other areas.

There were not that many people in the halls, nor the other rooms that were open to the public. Jacob did spot the Baron leaving the main hall, but questioned where he went.

On the left side of lord Frost's estate Jacob was gazing out of the large window. There was barely any light coming in the hall making it hard to see. Jacob could still see everything around him, but he could not make out a clear image.

As he turned around to head back to the main hall, a loud thud sounded out. As if something heavy hit the ground.

Looking around, Jacob spotted a figure on the floor. His first instinct was the look up, which he did. The small amount of light that came through the window allowed him to see the outline of a figure on the floor above.

He could not make out who it was, but they turned away. Their steps were steady not in a rush.

Seeing the figure leave, Jacob looked down as he edged closer to the figure. There he spotted the Baron, unmoving.

Before he could even count to ten, three figures came into the hall.

They stared at him, then their focus went to the Baron's motionless body.

With no time to explain himself, the lights flickered on.
