Capítulo 19: Ch.19: Run Away

I forgot Dad used the car so I walk hurriedly towards the forest, stuffing my face and realize I'm not cold anymore, it feels kinda off, having snow around you and not being cold. I round a corner and throw the plastic dish away in the trash can nearby. I suddenly feel angry, and scared, I look around no one's out here but me. Then I feel like I've just got slammed in the chest, I'm breathless. Emberlynn! It could be our connection! She might be in trouble. I start running, my back starts hurting again, oh no. I quickly grab my bag, take my non ruined shirt off and stuff it in there, feel the stretching sensation in my back just as I start running again. I hear a giant whoosh from behind me and before I know it, I'm in the air. My stomach feels weightless, I swear I'm going to throw up, I'm scared of heights.
I start falling, I gasp. Em's in trouble, I need to get there before she gets hurt. Something gets in my eyes and I wipe it out as I'm trying to force my wings to flap, my hands are covered in blood, my glasses are too. My arm starts burning as my skin splits into three, long, straight lines. I start flapping but I'm too close to the ground to gain velocity. As I prepare for a crash landing, I close my eyes for the ground to consume me…
Samantha! I hear Em say, then, I feel something wrap around my frail body, I open my eyes and hear heavy flapping. I crank my head and see Emberlynn! Her silhouette is gently blended into the cloudy sky. I observe her large reptilian structure for injuries. She has three long scratches on her arm that she's carrying me in. I take note that our scratches are identical. She also had a little cut on her head. I also notice I see farther now, I take off my glasses, my vision is sharper and more precise. I drop them, I guess I don't need them anymore. Emberlynn holds me close to her body. My back feels normal now, I bundle up in her hand, feeling weak. The cuts on my arm and head are maybe deeper than it looks.
It's silent for a few minutes then, I finally manage to gather the courage.
Emberlynn… What happened? Are you alright?... My eyelids are heavy, I feel Em moving faster through the air.
Hold on Sam, We're almost out of here. I almost lost her! I hear her say quickly. My body is numb with pain, I can't move.
I'm trying, but… I can't… I try to move, I feel like my soul is seeping out of me. I don't hold back my feelings, I try to mumble "Goodbye Chris… Dad, I'm sorry Emberlynn." but I'm not sure if Em could understand it but I hope she does…I don't even know what I'm sorry for… For being a weak human? For not helping her? For not getting to know her more? I don't know.
Hold on, Sam! Please! I don't know where to go! Please… It sounds like she's crying, but as she uttered her last word, the darkness consumes me.
