This chapter is just background information on main characters, they aren't important, but they let you understand the characters more.
Winter Jenson (Tess Cryo)
Grew up in the rural area surrounding West Lafayette Indiana. After school she would volunteer at shelters and other places. She was very popular due to her kind hearted nature, everyone liked her. Though many people were friendly she didn't have many actual friends she could open up too. That's when she meet Amy half way through sophomore year. They became super close, best friends, they were inseparable. Amy told her about penny stocks, which is mentioned not by name in the first chapter. She was also a genius in martial arts, and was easily able to learn any martial art. She became renowned in almost all martial arts circles as a genius world wide. She grew up in a heavily Christian and conservative family, they didn't have a kind look on anything LGBT. This made her hide who she was, and also leave as soon as she was eighteen. This was also when she came out to her family, who immediately disowned and forbid her from seeing her siblings so she wouldn't 'taint' them. Though this was devastating to her, she didn't deny who she was, and decided to put even more effort into helping others. Which led to where she is today.
Amy Steele (Aurelia Magus)
Spunky, caring and tomboy are words that can describe Amy. Sports have always been a big part of her life. Whether soccer, softball or other sports she always excelled. She also grew up in West Lafayette and only lived a mile down the same county road as Winter. When she could in high school and especially after high school she loved to volunteer with Paralympic programs for disabled children. All her life she was fascinated with ancient languages and ancient history. By middle school she had already become fluent in Latin, through personal study, and grew up speaking English and sign language. In middle school she became fascinated with Nordic mythology and sought out everything she could find of it. Once she found out about Ingenuity Online she started to come up with a structure for her own set of runes for her own unique class, Rune Caster. She made a rune for every effect and shape she could thing of from bullets to speed. The whole project took two years, from the meaning of individual runes to what they meant when combined, all the way to how each sounded. By the end of the period she basically had her own whole language. She submitted her idea to a gaming company, with an NDA to see if she could get hired on, which she did. She was put on language development project for Ingenuity Online to help flesh out in perfect the ancient language of the game. Finally soon after it started well you know the rest.
Derek Steele/ Xantos Zashanson
Derek Grew up very similarly to Amy, having lived with her their whole life. As twins they grew up doing everything together, though Derek would volunteer at the Veterans Home in the east of West Lafayette. Sometimes in his free time he would go to the animal shelters and play with all of the animals, unfortunately not being able to take any home. This love of animals led him to play tamer classes whenever the game he played had them. His desire to help disabled veterans led him to go into the field of Bio Medical engineering, wanting to develop realistic looking prosthetics, that were still durable. With his knowledge, and a fair bit of luck, he quickly found an extremely durable polymer that exceeded all of his requirements. at this point he would only have to make the design for how the wiring of the prosthetics would be, which is when the incident happened, and you'll find out the rest.
