"What is going on, Hats?" Alexander asked.
*Sigh*
"Ah, old man. Meet Chappy. I found him alone in the sewers, thrown in by a bunch of human kids. I took pity and took him in." Hats explained and jumped onto Olivia's lap to get some well-deserved pats and scratches.
The puppy also ran up to Olivia and jumped around her feet.
"Boz Boz... Pick me up too." The puppy barked.
"Dammit, can't he shut up for a second?" Hats complained.
But Olivia softly picked Chappy up and brought him close to her face.
"You are so small and yet so full of energy," Olivia mumbled.
"Woof"
*Lick*
Chappy licked Olivia's face cutely. This made her start laughing.
"What a cute child. Good job, Hats. You finally adopted your first kid." Olivia laughed and patted Chappy.
Alexander walked up to them and also patted Chappy. "Cute indeed. Kids at home would love to play with him. Chomei will surely welcome him with open arms. One more person for him to share his love of ice-cream with.
"Hats, be a good dad. Take care of him now." Alexander patted both Hats and Chappy and left.
"Boz Boz... Who are these two? I love them so much. They are so nice." Chappy barked.
"Hah, that was the Old man and this is the kind and gentle Grandma. Never disrespect her, okay?" Hats instructed him
"Oh, then I will hug her and show my love for her," Chappy replied and hugged Olivia's belly with his tiny paws.
Olivia kept on chuckling after seeing the exchanges between Hats and Chappy.
...
Central City,
Bradley was back in his office now. He kept on thinking about the last words Alexander said before he left. The thing about a birthday surprise.
He was yet to find out what this was about. He was honestly a bit on edge with all this.
*Knock Knock*
"Fuhrer, there has been a high priority parcel for you." The assistant informed him.
"Good, put it on my table and leave," Bradley ordered.
It was a big box wrapped in gift wrap. Bradley was having an ominous feeling by this. Alone, he opened the box and found 27 State Alchemist Identification pocket watches and an unsigned letter.
In a second, he understood what this meant. All the names on these watches belonged to State Alchemists who participated in the Ishval Civil War and happily killed people. There were people like Kimblee. He then finally read the letter. There were just a few letters written on it but he didn't know what it meant.
"Happy Birthday, LMAO."
~What does LMAO mean?~ He thought.
*Knock* *Knock*
Bradley quickly put the box under the table. "Enter."
His assistant came with a file. "Fuhrer, this is the situation report from yesterday's prison event."
"What happened at the prison?" Bradley asked.
"Sir, Solf J. Kimblee and 10 more prisoners were found hanged in their cells. It is impossible for anyone to enter the prison so we are currently looking into why all these people committed suicide." The assistant reported.
"Okay, you proceed as planned. Report to me if you find anything." He ordered.
Once when he was alone again, he looked out of the window. "So this was your gift? Now don't mind me if I do the same."
...
Central City,
Now that Hughes knew about the Fuhrer being a traitor. He needed to tell some people about this. But, in a way that the people would feel it was them who found out about this.
So, he deployed a plan. He just needed to make sure that Mustang knew about this as Mustang would then tell his team and also Lieutenant General Grumman. Grumman will also have some close allies who will follow him.
He went to find Alexander who had just returned to the Central.
"Sir, I have prepared this plan." He gave Alexander a file.
Alexander read it carefully. "Hoh, so you want to make Mustang see the homunculus himself. Well, how are you planning on doing this?"
"Simple, we will reveal the information about where Mustang has kept Barry the Butcher and Slicer Brothers secretly. I'm sure the Homunculus will try to cut the loose ends." Hughes suggested.
"Good, also, send someone to tell Mustang that I want to meet him. I will feed some words to his mind so he realizes the plot fast and accurately." Alexander ordered him.
"Haha, I can't wait for all this to just end. I miss my cute little daughter." Hughes left while gloating.
After a while, Mustang came to his office.
"General, you asked for me?" Mustang entered.
"Yes yes, enter and take a seat." Alexander waved his hand.
"Coffee or tea?" Alexander asked.
"Nothing, General." Mustang denied. He was acting too stiffly. He was still in the process of understanding who was an enemy and who was a friend.
"Haha, calm down, kid. No need to act so stiffly. Here, drink this tea. This is the finest tea you will find in the world. My friend grows it." Alexander boasted and gave him a cup of tea.
Mustang sipping a little and immediately felt so fresh and light. It was as if he was standing naked in the middle of a grassland in spring.
~Is this some kind of a new drug?~ he thought.
"Haha, first-time drinkers usually have that face. No, this is not some drug but just amazing and fresh tea leaves. But I won't deny that drinking this will make you addicted to it. It's just so good." Alexander explained. He had now made Mustang at ease.
"May I know why I was summoned here, sir?" Mustang inquired.
"Not summoned but invited. I heard you were good friends with Grumman. He is a good man. Too bad he was thrown away to the East City." Alexander got to the main point.
"What was the reason, if I may know?" Mustang asked hesitantly.
"Well, all I can tell you is that he was proposed something by the higher-ups and he denied it. So, he was unofficially punished." Alexander revealed.
Mustang gulped. Who could be higher than a Lieutenant General? Only the men at Central Command and the Fuhrer.
"What about you, sir? Did you... Accept that proposal?" He asked further. His instincts were telling him to stop as whatever this proposal was, it wasn't anything good.
Alexander chuckled, "Haha... They wouldn't dare to propose anything to me. None of them have the guts to punish me. Well, anyway, did you know, the Fuhrer recently went to the South. Dublith to be precise. The Elric brothers were there too.
"I was there too as my wife had invited me. But guess what I saw, the Fuhrer was personally butchering a gang of thugs. The most surprising thing was that the gang claimed they were ex-military but were experimented on by the military and turned into Chimeras."
Mustang's eyes widened. This implied that the Military was cleaning the tracks and even the Fuhrer was involved.
"Well, there are too many things happening in the country. Mostly they are bad. So many Massacres, in Ishval, Leor, and recently an uprising occurred in Creta. The military sent by the Central was about to kill everyone there too, like in Ishval and Leor, but I stopped them.
"It turned out, people were just protesting because they were not being given basic necessities like water and food. I had to forcefully take over the Creta region's command." Alexander revealed.
Mustang wasn't able to completely understand why he was being told all this but he still knew there was a hidden reason.
Alexander then got up and looked at his watch, "Ah, it's time for me to go out. You continue your work, Colonel."
Mustang left his office with too many questions which he knew he must find answers to. But he also subconsciously started trusting Alexander a bit more.
~It seems I need to talk to Lieutenant General Grumman.~ he thought.
