Capítulo 49: Confession
Calm down, Mimin... Just calm down, and don't stare at Selena's creepy face too much. Remember that she's doing all this just for fun. Calm down...
"What do you want f-from me?"
Selena: "Oh, I just want you to talk, that's all."
Maria: "Wait, what's this all about? Can't you see that you're scaring Mina? Come over here, Mina, you'll be safe with me."
Arnold: "I assume you have a good reason for doing this, Selena?"
Hearing Maria call for her, Mina wastes no time to hide behind her back, hiding from Selena.
(Wait, Mina! You can't just abandon me now! How can you leave me alone with Selena like this!?)
(I'm s-s-sorry!)
Selena: "Eh~? You've already recovered from your fear? Not bad."
Huh? What's she planning now? She just changed her tone of voice, when I used telepathy. How does she know that I'm using telepathy anyway? I always make sure to not show any facial expressions or movements when I use telepathy.
Selena: "I may know a lot more than you think. So, are you going to tell us about yourself now?"
This is bad. It looks like Selena knows what I'm thinking. I don't know how she's managing to do that, but that's not the most important thing right now.
"What do you mean by that question?"
Selena: "Oh, of course, I'm asking you to reveal, to everyone, what kind of beastkin you are! What else could I be asking about?"
Maria: "But she told me that she's not sure about that. I asked her that earlier today..."
"Yeah! I already told Maria that I'm not sure about that myself! If I knew, I would have already said it!"
This is bad. Why do I feel like things are going to get worse from here? Selena looks like she's enjoying this a lot, though.
Selena: "Is that so~?"
...! Scary... Don't look at me like that with those creepy black eyes of yours! It makes your smile more intimidating, and I don't like that!
Selena: "So, are you going to say it yourself, or do I have to say it for you?"
"You can't do that..."
Daius and Mina are currently ignoring the whole conversation while drinking their glasses of milk tea. Is nobody going to save me from this mess? If this continues on, I may end up having to reveal that I'm related to the Silverwolves and White Foxes.
Arnold: "Look, isn't this enough already? What does finding out about that accomplish? In the end, none of us really care what kind of beastkin she is."
Sen: "But I do care. I'm curious as well."
Now it's getting worse. Sen is also another person I have to be careful around. He was the first person to suspect that I'm hiding things from them. He's definitely going to use this chance to get some answers from me, because of Selena's oddly convenient lie detection.
Maria: "Sen, don't make things worse! Selena, look, it's like Arnold says. We don't need to know, so please stop pressuring Mimin about it. If the information is so important, that it ends up causing inconvenience for us, then I'll take the blame for it!"
Selena: "But, I can't let you do that, when I know that I'm able to do something about it. Besides, you know you're curious about it too."
Maria... Even now, she still trusts me over her close friends? But why is she doing this for me? Is it simply because I'm a kid? Does she feel some sort of responsibility to do so?
...I can't do this. At the very least, I don't want to hide it from Maria anymore. My instincts are telling me that it's bad to say it, but I don't think I can get out of this situation. If Selena already knows, then...
"Fine... I'll confess."
The room is flooded with silence and tension, as I said that. Everyone's attention is all directed at me in an instant. This is it. No matter how bad the outcome may be, there's no turning back now.
"I'm related to the Silverwolves and the White Foxes. To be exact, I'm actually a beastkin with a mix of Silverwolf and White Fox."
Only Selena and Sen remains unfazed by what I just revealed. Everyone else is either surprised, or doubtful. I expected this to be their reaction, more or less. But if I'm going to explain everything...
Selena: "That's not all, is it? What else do you still have to mention about yourself?"
"I'm originally a human. I'm one of those people, who converted from a human into a beastkin. As for why I don't have human ears... I'm not sure about that, myself. I was told that I didn't have ears to begin with."
I think that's about it. I don't know how much of that information they actually heard, but Selena and Sen seems to be fine.
Maria: "Mimin... What did you just say? I don't think I heard right."
Selena: "Do you really not know how you don't have human ears?"
"Yes! I'm not lying about that!"
Selena: "Of course, I know you aren't lying. I'm just teasing you, silly. But I guess that'll remain a mystery for now. That's somewhat concerning."
This... Only she's in the mood to joke around at this point. Forcing me to reveal some information about myself, and then switching to a friendly tone of speaking, as if nothing happened. She's definitely weird, if not scary.
Now that I've revealed my beastkin identity, will Mina hate me for hiding it, when we first introduced ourselves to each other? Will she be afraid of me, because I'm a Silverwolf and White Fox beastkin?
(Mimin... No matter what beastkin you are, I'll still be your friend! What you are doesn't matter. I'll always be by your side, because that's what I should do, as your friend, right?)
(Mina... Thank you...)
And here I am, worrying about pointless things. I take another sip from my glass of milk tea, now that I'm able to take a break.
(Well, you still ran away and left me alone to deal with Selena just now. What a nice friend you are, Mina.)
(T-Thats...! I'm sorry! I'm really sorry!)
(It's fine, I understand. Don't worry about it, Mina, I'll still be your friend, too.)
(I'm sorry! I won't do it again next time, I promise!)
So far, everything is still fine. Maybe my instincts were wrong, after all? All that's left now is to wait for everyone else to recover.
