Capítulo 41: Mimin's weird
"Um... If it's fine with you, can I touch your fur?"
Mimin's fur looks really nice, and it has a pretty, silver colour. But seriously, I've never seen any fox with silver fur before! The closest one I can think of, that Mimin's fur colour is very similar to, is the White Fox. But there's no way Mimin's a White Fox beastkin, right? White Foxes have white fur, not silver fur, and as far as I know, White Fox beastkin don't exist.
"Yeah, I don't mind."
Eh? Really? Aren't beastkin normally very hesitant to let other people touch their fur? That is, usually they only let people who they trust to touch their fur. Which means, beastkin tend to only let their parents and close friends touch their fur.
What kind of environment did Mimin grow up in? How can she let me, a complete stranger, touch her fur so easily? Does she really not mind? Though, if she's really going to let me touch her fur, I'm not going to give up on this opportunity!
I turn left to face her, and put both of my hands near the base of her tail. Then, I start stroking her fur gently, from the base of her tail to the tip, so I don't mess up her fur too much. Now that I think about it, this is kind of like taking care of a pet, isn't it?
...Eh? This is amazing! Her fur is so soft! It feels so smooth, silky, and like... It feels really good to the touch! How is this possible? What did she do to keep her tail in such a good condition? With this quality... who knows how many beastkin will be jealous of this...
And, Mimin is... Is she enjoying this? Her tail is completely relaxed, and she seems happy, from the smile on her face. Well, this means I'm not doing anything wrong, so that's a relief!
But, yeah... I've never seen or felt this kind of fur before... I'm touching Mimin's fur because it may get me a hint, to finding out what kind of beastkin Mimin is. But, I'm not actually sure if touching her fur actually tells me anything...
Also, I wanted to touch her fur, because of how pretty it looks. I'm just curious, that's all!
Next, I'm going to touch her fox ears. From what I can see, she doesn't have any human ears, which means she's naturally born as a beastkin. That also means she isn't one of the victims of that incident from eight years ago.
I start to stroke in a similar way, from the base of her ears to the tip, while gently pressing her ears down. Her ears also start to relax, like her tail, allowing me to continue touching it.
Mimin enjoys this just as much, it seems. Now I'm really curious as to what kind of environment she grew up in. Has she never experienced this kind of affection before? I can't imagine her being treated badly when the condition of her fur is this good.
Finally, I start to touch her head, on the spot between her ears. This isn't really touching her fur, and more like wanting to give her headpats instead. If there's anything I know about beastkin, it's that headpats can make anyone feel better!
"Uwa!"
"W-What's wrong? Did I do something weird?"
Does Mimin not like headpats after all? Am I wrong to assume that headpats can cheer her up?
"No, it's just... It feels so good..."
...Eh? It feels good? So, does Mimin like headpats after all? Wait, that's not the only issue here!
"You mean... You've never gotten a headpat like this before? What kind of treatment do you normally get? How have you never gotten a headpat before? This is basically what every..."
Wait, I probably shouldn't continue saying such things. Mimin did just lose her family recently... How can I be so insensitive to ask her about her family's treatment towards her?
But, Mimin looks like she's in heaven now, and she didn't hear anything I just asked her.
"Mimin?"
...No response from her. I don't understand how she can enjoy headpats so much that it puts her in a trance. Does it really feel that good?
I stop patting her head for a moment, because I want her to respond. There's something that I forgot to ask her earlier, when we introduced ourselves.
"...Why did you stop? Is something wrong?"
Ah, it works. She really does respond when I stop patting her head... She's a weird child.
"I forgot to ask you earlier, but, um... How old are you?"
From her behaviour, I'm guessing that Mimin's around 10 years old? Even then, that's kind of stretching it. A child acting so mature at such a young age? But at the same time, she's really small for a 10 year old, in terms of height. She's probably as short as a seven year old. In the end, I can't really tell, which is why I'm asking her for her age now.
"I'm eight years old."
"...Eh?"
