Capítulo 835: Buki Monster
Mathias "You two stay behind me, if you notice anything suspicious tell me immediately... If you aren't confident then head back now." he says as he wanted to be cautious when risking their lives.
Lennon "O-ok." he says, clearly about to piss his pants...
Jerma "Lothi said that the sounds had come from the forests to the north, I bet whatever is living there is still around." she says.
Mathias turns towards what looks like an inn, he could've sworn he heard something move... The village had been evacuated so it was either an animal, thief, or the monster they were sent to deal with. "You two... Wait here." he states, casting lightning armour and slowly walking towards the inn.
He looks through the window but doesn't spot anything, continuing and kicking the door open to make his presence known... He steps inside warily and a shadow comes from behind the door, about to grab Mathias around the throat to strangle him.
*Crackle!*
His lightning armour reacts to the malicious intentions of his opponent, shocking and sending them flying, they flip over a couple tables before landing against a shelf that holds many bottles of wine that all smash under him.
The man who'd attacked him was wearing leather armour with steel plates and two swords on their back, not only that but their left arm seemed to be artificial and quite magical...
Mathias briskly walks towards them and they slowly get up, noting that the person had slitted pupils, "What're you? A demon?" he asks, pointing his staff at them.
The stranger snorts, "Demon? First time I've been called that." he says, thrusting his hand out and unleashing a concussive blast that hits Mathias in the chest, he stays upright but is pushed a couple meters, his feet sliding against the floor.
Mathias "So you're a magic-user? I wonder if you have any relation to the monster I was sent to kill?" he asks, not expecting to get an answer.
...
"Monster? I was sent to hunt that monster!" he exclaims, making the both of them feel foolish for fighting.
Mathias "Hm, it seems we've had a misunderstanding then... I'm Mathias, a Wizard."
The other person nods, rolling their shoulder and groaning as his wine-soaked armour, "Arie, Witcher." he states.
Mathias "Witcher? I've never heard of such a thing."
Arie "You're not around here, are you?" he asks... Everyone had known about Witchers in the past, but it was more publically known now that the Holy Empire had taken over, the "God King" being a Witcher raised the opinions of the public about them rather drastically. "Witchers are basically Monster hunters, got it?"
Mathias nods, "Let's talk outside, my companions are probably worried." he says, stepping out of the inn.
Arie "Oh, by the way... If anyone asks it was the monster that trashed the Inn."
Mathias nods, not wanting to be associated with it either.
Jerma "Ah, Mathias! Are you okay? Sounded like you were fighting something in there..." she spots the other person and her eyes go wide, she bows deeply towards them, "Ah! Master Witcher."
Arie shrugs, "Stop the formalities, I'm just a guy with weird eyes, chill."
Jerma nods as she stands again, "Are you also here to hunt the monster?" she asks.
Arie "I am... Can't say I expected anyone else to be around here if I'm honest. Who sent you?"
Mathias "Lothi in Piana, wanted us to get rid of the monster before you did apparently."
Arie "Ah, that explains it... Probably wanted a promotion for handling the problem before anyone else stepped in."
Jerma "Is that bad?" she asks worried that they'd done something illegal.
Arie shakes his head, "No, just incredibly annoying. It's only illegal if they send someone unprepared for the task and end up getting them killed, it's the reason the Holy Empire usually sends specialists to deal with monsters instead of just sending regular soldiers." he pats Mathias on the shoulder, "Don't think you'd have a problem with whatever it is though, you seem strong enough." he compliments.
Mathias "You're not bad yourself, shall we search for the beast together? I wouldn't refuse the extra help."
Arie nods, "Sure, just as long as I get the body at the end."
Mathias "Lothi didn't say anything about needing its corpse so I suppose that's agreeable." he says, looking towards the north at the forets, "Shall we go?" he asks, receiving a nod from Arie.
Jerma and Lennon stay in the village as the duo start walking through the forest, Arie occasionally stoping and looking at tracks he finds... Most seem to be just old ones from the time monsters were more common, there didn't seem to be anything that suggested a monster was living nearby.
Arie did find some locks of white hair however, from the smell and texture of them he could tell they belonged to a wolf or something similar, but that still wouldn't explain what defeated the village militia. They'd fought it at night and hadn't gotten a good look at it, but somehow all of them survived with nothing but bruises.
Mathias frowned as Arie was telling him this, "Perhaps it isn't even a monster then? We ran into bandits on the way here..."
Arie "Hm, I hadn't thought about that... I'd heard a roar coming from Buki as I was in Daevon, it didn't sound human so I'd just assumed it was a monster."
Mathias snorts, "Humans can sometimes release sounds that could only belong to demons, I've personally experienced it." he says, remembering the roars his Barbarian companion would shout as he charged into legions of demons... Wait...
*Crack!*
A branch snaps nearby and as the duo turn to face it Arie is slammed in the chest and launched away at ridiculous speeds... Mathias can only see white fur as the opponent approaches.
