Silva POV
Onyx fired off his shotguns at me and Velite darted in behind me by tossing one of her knives then using her semblance to teleport to it. I blocked Onyx's shots more easily than expected due to the fact their slug rounds instead of buckshot with my shield claw gauntlets and fired a shockwave from my back to send Velite flying. Onyx kept up the pressure by constantly peppering me with his shotguns while moving.
Velite showed back up preventing me from going after Onyx, as I slashed at her Onyx kept going for my unguarded spots while Velite used her semblance to dart in and out of my reach. I will admit that their teamwork is decent but I know that I just need to deal with Velite first then Onyx to destroy them. So I ignored Onyx and focused on Velite while tanking his potshots. I charged at Velite and as she threw a knife past me I grabbed it and crushed it with Echo Tremor amplifying my grip.
She paled at the sight of her knife being destroyed and with it limiting her semblance's use with the bond being destroyed along with it. I smiled under my helmet and went at her with renewed vigor. She stopped throwing her knives near me in fear that I will destroy them as well she instead closed the distance on foot and teleported away from me just as I was about to land a blow on her.
Onyx kept on bombarding me with his guns as I focused on Velite and I just shrug them off with my aura. I already lost a 5th of my aura but I am slowly dominating the fight by focusing on getting rid of Velite then Onyx. Just as I was chasing Velite through the docks some slavers wandered into the fight and I killed them with extreme prejudice before going back to Velite.
Onyx POV
Curse it all to hell and back this was supposed to be a simple job but this masked monster of a warrior is making things difficult. He is ignoring me in favor of getting rid of Velite first and from what I am sensing from his aura he has a monstrous amount so I can't gun him down without expending my more destructive ammunition that is more expensive as well. Plus add to the fact he is also killing any slavers he comes across which means I am likely losing pay due to my "incompetence".
I can't use my semblance Push too many times because it eats up my aura like something fierce. I grit my teeth and pepper him with my shotguns but he just ignores it and goes for Velite. The moment she is dead I am next no doubt because seeing how he is steadily cornering Velite in melee combat I don't like my chances against him because Velite is the better fighter compared to me.
I am seriously thinking of turning tail and running especially after seeing the White Fang scout out this place earlier. This means that they are going to attack soon to free the Faunus here which is not unexpected but seeing this guy in black makes me think that they are serious about destroying this operation here with him being an elite with his skills. He just destroyed another one of Velite's knives okay that settles it I am saving my hide but not before I loot the boss's cache here to break even with losses.
I hope to never run into that guy in black again because I rather not take my chances. I would like to say it was nice knowing Velite but she is a pretentious pain in the neck so I would be lying.
Silva POV
I no longer felt myself getting hit with slug rounds as I finally cornered Velite, I wondered where Onyx ran off to but I focus on getting rid of her first. She was panting as I walked closer to her as she gripped her last knife tightly. She grits her teeth and threw her knife at me then charged at me followed by teleporting which flowed into a flying kick. I sidestep and grabbed her leg then slammed her into the ground finally breaking her aura as it faded from gray to nothingness.
As she groaned in pain she looked at me defiantly and said.
Velite: Go to Oblivion you worthless animal.
She took out a detonator but I grabbed it before she could do anything and rammed my weapon through her. The light faded from her eyes and her body went limp then I heard clapping behind me. I turned to see a pale, bald, one-eyed man with an eye patch smiling then he said.
???: Well, now I don't have to pay that mercenary so thank you for saving me the Lein. However, I noticed you took down quite a few of my boys so I need you to pay up.
Beneath my helmet, I looked at him like he was stupid because he showed up in front of me admitting that he is a slaver. Just as I was getting ready to put an end to him he then said.
???: Now before you do anything hasty have a look behind me.
I then saw some slavers aiming their guns at some Faunus with some collars on them. The baldy sneered at me and started to monologue.
???: Now here is what is going to happen you are going to disarm yourself and surrender so that I may make a profit off you mister White Fang. Now, how do I know that you may ask, well...
Before he could finish his sentence I gut him with my claw shield gauntlets making him look surprised. I then told him.
Silva: I may not be a bad guy but I'm not a good guy either and I always choose my loved ones and myself over strangers in a hostage situation.
As he died I looked at the slavers that are in a stupor, I quickly took my weapon out of the slaver and charged at the nearest slaver with a hostage and cut him down. The others woke up from their stupor and ignored their hostages and fired at me directly with their guns. I just continued to take them down one by one until there was only one and that slaver repeated the same mistake as the last one and took a hostage while shouting.
Slavers: STOP I WILL SHOOT THIS ANIMAL IF YOU COME ANY CLOSER!!!
I ignored him then charged at him and he used his hostage as a shield while he fired his gun at me. I separated his head from his body and as the slaver's body fell back the Faunus hostage looked at me wide-eyed and fell to his knees thanking me. I sighed thinking since I already got started in eliminating the slavers I might as well finish up. I spread my sonar and found the rest of the slavers then started to hunt them down, one by one.
Blake POV
As the girl in black that came with Silva dragged me away I repeatedly told her to let me go. She ignored me and I tried to break free from her grip on my own but to my surprise, she had an iron grip that I could not break. I felt a tinge of regret in acting so rashly but I couldn't ignore the little girl's cries for help when that slaving scum was whipping her for his amusement. So I shot him with Gambol Shroud killing him, while not the first time I killed but I still wish I didn't have to.
I continuously question why I am still in the White Fang because I never wanted blood on my hands even if some humans were far worst than Grimm. With Grimm, they just kill because that is what they have always done but humans, humans did things that made me question who was the real monster was. What's worst is that I see Adam gradually change into a monster that is no different than the worst kind of humans.
The girl in black finally let me go after we reached the entrance of the hidden path to the docks. I asked her.
Blake: Why did you leave him? He needed help!
The girl in black looked at me and told me.
Penny: He does not need help, we were in his way like he said.
I looked at her questioningly and she explained.
Penny: If he wanted to he could bring the whole ceiling down on the docks and come out without a scratch but he doesn't because of the other Faunus trapped there.
I heard Silva was strong but to be that strong I can't help but feel skeptical. I replied still worried about him despite her assurances.
Blake: We better let the High Leader know what happened.
She nodded in reply and we head back to the main camp with the rest of the squad.
Sienna POV
It was supposed to be a simple recon mission but apparently, things went sideways. I sighed hoping that Silva Cloud was fine because he has done a lot of good for the Faunus and will likely continue to do so but in a different capacity than the White Fang. He gave the Menagerie a different power source than dust so now almost every household there has AC, lights, and cooking implements.
Not only that, he donated a large amount of Lein to the Kuo Kuana reconstruction project he set up which will make it not only less crowded but even generate revenue from the greenhouses he designed for herbs and spices unique to the Menagerie. Against the wishes of some of the commanders lead by Adam Taurus to speed up the timetable for the operation to destroy the slaving ring. As I lead the White Fang to the docks I notice that it was far too quiet for an operation this large.
It didn't take long for me and the others to notice the scent of blood in the air. I and everybody went on guard as we head in deeper to the docks and soon the scent of blood was replaced with the fragrant smell of food that woke up my appetite. I felt something strange was going on, I heard a commotion in the distance and headed towards it.
What I saw made me question whether I was dreaming because I saw a line of Faunus going towards Silva in his disguise while he was cooking a massive pot of broth and noodles. I couldn't help but say out loud.
Sienna: What in the name of Remnant is going on?
Silva POV
I looked over to the source of the voice I just heard and saw Sienna and the rest of the White Fang in force. I casually greeted her.
Silva: Hey Sienna, care to join us for lunch?
She blinked a few times then broke out of her stupor and asked me.
Sienna: Where are the slavers?
I curtly replied.
Silva: Dead, every last one of them.
I also told her what I am doing right now.
Silva: I am giving these people a decent meal seeing how they have not had a proper meal, in who knows how long.
Sienna just numbly nodded then Blake and Penny showed up sounding relieved.
Blake/Penny: You're alright!
Silva: Uh, yes... Thanks for your concern you 2.
I went back to stirring the pot of noodles and broth to serve the victims of the slavery ring. Soon the rest of the White Fang joined in on the feasting and it turned into a happy occasion for the Faunus there. But it did not last as one of the freed Faunus confronted me after everyone ate.
???: It's your fault she is dead.
The male Faunus with goat horns said to me with a look of distraught and I tilted my head in the confusion of who he meant. Seeing this the goat Faunus's face turned crimson with fury and bellowed.
???: IT IS BECAUSE OF YOU MY SISTER IS DEAD WHEN SHE WAS TAKEN HOSTAGE TO STOP YOU BUT YOU JUST DID NOT STOP KILLING THOSE SCUMBAGS AND SHE DIED TO MAKE HER AN EXAMPLE. BUT YOU JUST CONTINUED LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED, SO WHY, WHY DID YOU NOT SAVE HER!?
Hearing him I told him bluntly.
Silva: Because I was not strong enough to save everybody.
The goat Faunus deflated from my answer and broke down crying out.
???: Why, why did she have to die?
Adam walked up to me and demanded.
Adam: Explain what he is talking about!
I noticed that the rest were curious about it as well so I told them after I sighed.
Silva: The slavers took hostages from the imprisoned Faunus to make me stop but I didn't.
Adam growled out questioningly.
Adam: Why did you not stop if there were hostages?
I told him bluntly my beliefs.
Silva: If I show hostages are capable of stopping me what's to stop others from doing the same again and again? So I made my choice to save more by showing that hostages have no meaning to me to deter others from taking them thus saving more lives. Because if I allowed hostages to stop me not only would I die but the rest of the Faunus as well whether due to being tossed in a mine or just being slaughtered for a human's amusement.
Adam looked like he wanted to retort but kept silent and I walked past him then notified the freed Faunus.
Silva: For those that have homes to go to, please step forward so that I can send you home.
I opened a portal in front of them and explained.
Silva: With my semblance, I can send you back home if you still have one but if you don't I can send you anywhere you want.
This made some of the freed Faunus hopeful while the rest looked down in despair and sorrow. This means a lot of them loss their homes to the slavers, well I can offer them to go to Kuo Kuana instead because there are plenty of good people there to help them move forward there and past this traumatic event in their life.
