This story is a true gem and clearly beats many of the stories in the upper rankings. The beginning chapters had some glaring issues such as cringe due to the nature of the MC and some of the dialogue (very chuuni); this issue becomes moot in very little time. This can be attributed to the excellent character and world developing skills of (PancakesWitch); as the story progresses and the MC gains confidence, the dialogue between her and other characters steadily increase in it's quality. Another glowing point of this story is that the MC feels real, she is no hero and doesn't randomly help others for no particular reason. In saying that, the MC is really naive in the beginning and as the story progresses, her attention to details increase and more thought is put into actions. If anything, Kireina fits the role of anti-hero best, She is no goody two-shoes and certainly no villain either; whats interesting here though,is that as Kireina grows her family and gains things and people she desires to protect, the more she is willing to do to protect them and become stronger. An excellent example of this is her willingness to eat people, in the beginning she is apprehensive to do such a thing but eventually casts aside that apprehension in favour of the benefits. Another really strong point of this novel is it's world and how it expands. The world in this novel is really unique with quirky ideas such as the snowy mountain walls and the astral road. In nearly every chapter the reader is introduced to new and fantastical races with many unique creatures that aren't an archetype of an existing earth creature. The world building is really stellar in this novel and really utilizes the 'show don't tell' rule by having much of the exposition being given in side chapters by minor characters which give us this information by comparing common sense to the situation in cases where Kireina often breaks it. This effectively provides lore and also indicates not only how Kireina views this world but also how the world sees Kireina. Overall, this is an excellent novel and many of the wrinkles are only present in the first few chapters and these are ironed out. The release schedule is excellent with a new (and long (*v*)) chapter everyday with the occasional rapid releases. Solid characters which don't feel overshadowed by the MC and an excellent ever growing world. 5/5

This book is great, while the genderbender protagonist at the beginning threw me off a little bit, the plot and action afterwards throughly captured my attention. Great fight scenes mixed with character growth (literally and emotionally). Also the authors naming sense for skills and monster is top notch. Love it.

it is an amazing read, there are some grammar and lexical mistakes but they are not really a problem, since they are only in the start of the series. I wanted to ask, how finished the story is, as of 2236 chapter

Let's start by saying that the protagonist is a gender bender. He is a perverted protagonist and very unsure of himself. He has no social skills and is very stupid and is not at all charismatic or intriguing. If he were to make a similarity with another character he would be similar to the hero with the spear from the shield hero. Basically a complete womanizer. The grammar is great and the style is excellent too. The world is almost obsessively inspired by other works, there is nothing wrong with that being the case, they are simple tastes and writing ideas. The characters evolve well so to speak, but certainly we could do better but also worse. All in all it's a great story to read if you like these stories and a protagonist with these tendencies. If this is not the case, I advise you not to even go near the opera, because it will make you spit poison.
Author is pretty experienced with writing a good story, and generally very creative. However I just don't understand the need for the MC to be a male at first, and keep reminding the reader that he is one, even though I don't think it matter much. other than that, great story! Thank you for writing it:)

I am back outhor its been three years and I decided that its time to retry this novel now that I've relaxed gender bender tag is gone lets see how good your work was but if I remember right you've always made a good novel and this novel was really good till it was gender bender insufferable.
This is hilarious and I really like the characters and their development especially the main character and how he gets used to life as a monster and embraces it and the world setting like how gods and their descendants make up the realm and how there was human supremacy and the system balanced their growth with the monsters have the ability to evolve. Overall love the story ❤️

I got into this series late. not yet at ch. 1000 but as Pancake kept writing, the quality got better and better. excellent character development and supporting cast. Can't give a perfect score, but excellent quality and will continue to read. the degenerate part of me kind of wants to see a more submissive Kireina but that merely me being scum.

I am not too far in just yet. If you have ever read Re:Monster this is extremely similar. Instead of being reincarnated as a goblin the mc is born as a caterpillar. He can eat anything to gain skills and starts building up a base of monsters. The writing can be pretty chaotic especially when some of his skills are active and there is a bunch of internal conversation.
You should make it so she becomes a different race. Since she can now evolve. Pity she can’t become a dragon or sum tho. Non the less tho. Her kids will be more different if she were to have more hehe Some reason I like it when she has kids 🤔 maybe cuz there uniqueness.. yes that’s it
