After the war, namely the Battle of the Four Kingdom period was one of the bloodiest in mortal history, the world had barely recovered from Huang LiWei's conquests, it had stretched for several years. The mortal population dwindled, many families had lost loves ones and countries in the main land were devastated, until all the powerful royals and nobles' families backed with military strengths, met together to divide their territories and went on for cease fire to stabilise its borders periphery.
The new Cai emperor, had problems within his own kingdom, faced many small internal rebellions, remnants of Huang dynasty that he had to slowly eradicate, and the harsh reality of his country's empty coffers, which he decided to let go a portion of the old Xue country. The general who did the coup together with the Cai emperor, had gained riches from war and negotiated with the Cai emperor for the portion of Xue country and renamed to Sheng country. New country Xue, on precarious grounds with Cai, with their own history, continued to be shaky, with many hostage royal members exchanged as hostages to keep their peace treaty.
As for the infamous Huang LiWei, the second emperor who unified the nations, he was painted as a hunchback and ugly monarch, who not only locked up a beautiful immortal like lady, but had also forcibly took other noble maidens into his harem. Many statues that had his likeness were all scraped off and defiled. All scholars blamed Huang LiWei for the dark ages when there were many killings.
The dark ages told the descendants that many civilians were killed during demon attacks and the humans becoming demonic and attack their families. Many innocent humans were also later prosecuted and burnt to death by those proclaiming and accusing them of becoming demons. It was a bleak period, food was scarce and living in terror, scared of being attacked by demons or killed by their own kind for being what they were not.
It had taken many decades for the kingdoms - Cai, Xue, and Sheng, to stabilize their powers domestically, sent armies to defeat leftover demons, and setting up their governments.
LiHua sighed when she read about her immortal biological grandfather. Truly the saying 'history is written by victors' but in her grandfather's case, it was written by survivors. She had never seen a drawing about her grandfather but she knew Huang LiWei was not what was described by the mortals.
However, all these days of flipping walls and reading history, LiHua had came upon when she had read about her grandfather, something that made her very uneasy - a Xue family member from the past. From all the history lessons, it was mentioned a Xue daughter was praised to be the family's saviour during the last days of Huang dynasty. She was one of the main royal consorts of Emperor Huang LiWei. What was it about her that LiHua felt the need to find out more?
As LiHua tried to find out more, no scholars seemed to know about this Xue consort, and entering the royal library was a futile attempt with her skills. How she wished she had her Gold Peach clansmen's skill of invisibility and enter the Xue's royal library and research to her fill. Now, she could only quell her curiosity and pend her research until she found a way in.
With what seemed to be a dead end of her search, LiHua focused on next primary motive in her mortal adventure - Yuan LeiFeng. She decided she would help him through his mortal trial but first, she had to locate him. While she was researching about her grandparents, she was also finding clues to the mortal incarnation of Yuan LeiFeng.
LiHua did not know how the Wheel of Reincarnation worked, but she assumed that since she jumped into the reincarnation pool not long after Yuan LeiFeng, the probability of them being in the same area should be high. She had looked everywhere including the royal palace, but somehow missed out this place. Maybe tonight she might get lucky.
Standing on the rooftop, were 2 figures, the shorter one was wearing a cute animal mask and the other taller one was veiled and wearing black clothes mask. The taller figure, HeiYing saw the building they were at and at women waving and encouraging males to enter, he could only blanched. How was he to report this to the General? He doubted the General would laugh this matter off this time.

'How is that a promotion? That job had poorer standards and the possibilities of being punished by the general was higher than that of shadow guard.' HeiYing lamented.
