Capítulo 5: Chapter 4 - Wandering Mercenary

Ernie moved and approached the man he froze. From the symbol on his uniform, he couldn't tell which clan he was from. It wasn't the Senji nor Uchiha, or Uzumaki.

"Tell me, is this the land of fire?"

Ernie questioned the man in a cold tone as he glared at him.

"Land of fire? No, this is the land of earth."

Seeing as how he was overpowered by a boy much younger than himself, he knew he had to be cautious. It was easier to answer the questions Ernie had than to try anything.

Ernie rubbed his hairless chin and nodded his head.

"I see."

Ernie became lost in thought as he tried to remember things he knew. It's been many years and to be honest, he wasn't a naruto fan. Besides the main characters he barely knew anything about this world.

All he knew was that during this period of time, war was ever so constant and the big players during this time were the Uchiha and the Senju. Both of which were in the land of fire.

"Tell me, what are the big clans in this area? Also, which families have a feud against each other?"

"There's the Kamizuru clan, Itaku clan, Maru clan and the Sodachi clan. The Kamizuru is at war with the Sodachi clan. As for the Itaku clan, they are mostly mercenaries for hire while the Maru clan is large but more peaceful."

For some reason, the Kamizuru clan sounded oddly familiar to him, but he just couldn't put a picture in mind.

"Last question, where were you headed exactly?"

"Me and my clan members were going to visit the Sodachi clan, they asked our clan leader for assistance and he sent us. But, the Kamizuru hired mercenaries from the Itaku clan, and they've been sending out members to track and kill us."

Ernie nodded his head understanding the general situation.

His hand flashed and an ice needle pierced the man between his eyebrows.

The information he got was enough, there was no need to leave the man alive. Who knew what would happen if he let the man go and he returned with more people.

Yet, there was still the other members of his clan that should be dealt with.

"Nah, only if they cause me some trouble. For now, I should hang back a bit further until they reach the Sodachi clan. I'm curious to see what they look like."

Ernie's body disappeared and a few moments later, four other figures appeared.

"What the hell happened?"

"Who could have done this? Couldn't have been those Itaku guys, they do not use ice only wind."

"Tsk. I knew I should have followed him, we've already lost some of our other members to the Itaku clan, now we've lost one more. Stay alert this time, and no one goes alone!"

The four figures vanished.

There was no time for them to search for enemies close by, it was better for them to head to the Sodachi clan where they would have a better advantage. At least then they could regroup and rest for a bit to regain their strength.

As the group left, Ernie followed them. He kept a much larger distance this time around while hiding his presence.

When the four of them entered a small village Ernie observed it. It was a fairly decent sized clan, with more than fifty people present. Their homes were made out of earth, and they had an earth wall covering the entrance.

Ernie looked around and saw an open area on a rocky ledge. He headed towards it and sat there, just watching.

Hours went by but he finally felt that it was time for him to make a move. The group he was following earlier left a long time ago, and with them thirty other members of the Sodachi clan left too.

This left roughly twenty people in the village.

Even if they attacked Ernie, he felt that he should still be able to get away.

His body flickered and he landed on the ground in front of the village.

As he walked towards the earth wall, two ninja's stood guard and watched him. When he came close, they stopped him.

"Who are you and what do you want?"

"I'm a wandering mercenary and I heard about your situation."

One guard snorted while the other clicked his tongue.

"Go back, we don't hire people who won't make a difference."

"Let me speak to your leader, i'm sure he'll make the right move."

Ernie strongly suggested.

"Get out of here you brat!"

The man on the left kicked his foot towards Ernie, but Ernie caught it and threw it back towards the man. Seeing this, the man was ticked off and summoned stones that swirled around his body.

In his head, Ernie wasn't anything but a young brat that would die to a proper ninja. He wouldn't make a difference in war, so why even bother listening to him. It would be easier to get rid of him.

Seeing the stones swirling around the man, Ernie did a motion with his hand as he threw six ice needles forward. His control and proficiency over this technique was maxed out, he could use one hand to do the signs for it. Even with one hand, the speed of him making hand signs was faster than most people could even fathom.

The mans swirling rocks burst into smaller pieces that fell to the ground.

Seeing his attack had failed, his face turned red. This was embarrassing, how could he show his face in the village for getting outplayed by a kid?

"Stop!"

A booming voice echoed out causing the man to stop what he was doing.

A man with dark black hair stepped forward. His arms were thick, and he had a bandage wrapped around his head.

Looking down at Ernie he said calmly, "Friend, what business do you have with me?"
