Capítulo 64: The Second Floor Part (2/2)

Sova who had been advancing cautiously came to a sudden halt after hearing what Ace told him. His foot was left suspending in the air and even though this position was awkward, Sova did not move in the slightest. He believed that Ace must have a reason for this.

"Instead of stepping forward, be courageous and jump the distance of about four steps. Remember to land softly." Ace said after a short while, as for the reason he knew this, it was because of the unexpected change in his eyes.

It was a mysterious change to his eyes, if he wasn't wrong, then this must be related to the first stage of the Samsara Mind, he was awakening his Samsara eyes. Even though it was far from being fully awakened, the mere trickery the bridge used here wasn't able to escape detection from his eyes.

"Not bad, to think that there would be two youths besides Cody who saw through my hidden trap. As for the Sword Scholar, it doesn't really matter to him, the traps that I laid out may be problematic to other sword masters, but to someone of his caliber, those attacks weren't even worth mentioning."

The guardian of the second floor commented as he gathered around a round table with the other eight guardians, above them was a screen that captured every single detail going on in the Sword Tower, as for those who plummeted to their deaths, they were currently kept alive.

They may live, but when they regain consciousness, they'll lose everything they've built up until now, all that would remain is their comprehension of the sword and their weakened bodies.

"Those four have been making remarkable progress in the Sword Tower, but excluding them, there are still a few potential seeds that have passed through the first floor as well." The guardian of the first floor spoke up as he returned to his seat after passing another youth.

"Hahaha, who here doesn't know that with you being the guardian of the first floor, almost everyone would have an easy time passing through it." The guardian of the second floor said in annoyance since that only created more trouble for him to handle.

"Not this time, out of the hundred or so youths, only around forty of them passed through the doors to the second floor. To be honest still, the eight who are gathered together and Yan Di from the foreign lands have been showing impressive progress and performance as well."

"I got to agree on this, if they weren't born in the same generation as those four, each and every single one of them was bound to become the dazzling star of their generation, yet now they're nothing but a first class sword master." The guardian of the third floor commented, gaining the attention of the other two guardians.

"What are you talking about when no one has passed the second floor yet?" The guardian of the second floor couldn't help but question in anger, especially when he has been performing his duty conscientiously.

"Take a look, Cody has already arrived at the third floor, he made it to the third floor unscahted without being detected, just what were you doing?"

In the meantime, while the guardians were occupied with fooling around, Ace and Sova managed to fend off trap after trap.

Even though the number of traps they had to deal with was greatly reduced, there were still a few hidden mechanisms that Ace wasn't able to even see even after it was activated, this has nothing to do with fatigue, it was because his mental energy was still too weak against the protective barrier covering up the traps.

When spikes suddenly rose from the ground, Ace and Sova would jump forward to advance while avoiding them. When mysterious phantoms suddenly attacked them out of nowhere, they would rely on their sharp sense of hearing and touch to detect their opponent and end the battle swiftly.

Whatever traps that came their way, they were deactivated without doing Ace and Sova any harm.

"Ace, be careful, something might be up here." Sova came to a stop, right in front of them was the platform that would lead them to the third floor, yet the ominous feeling of danger here was stopping Sova from moving forward.

"You sense it too?" Ace asked in surprise considering the fact that Sova has not cultivated mental energy, yet he was able to sense what was up ahead.

His Samsara eyes might still be at its infant stage, but it was able to see through the darkness. Laying in wait for them was a gigantic spider.

Seeing this spider, Ace knew that the battle was unavoidable and why it was more than dangerous. Since they had to cross over the spider's territory, it would mean that there would be hidden webs everywhere.

All they could do was step into the trap their opponent had left for them. The third stage of the second floor was an insurmountable mountain, if they really wanted to defeat it, then there would only be one way, counter it by making use of natural elements and laws.

"Sova, are you able to utilise any flames or destructive elements to deal with the spider webs, if not, are you able to rely on the sharpness of your sword to deal with those durable webs?"

Ace asked as flames gathered around his sword, the mysterious sword he was entrusted with. Even though he still lacked the ability to understand its secret and why he was chosen by it, he understood that all this had to do with the system.

But still, this leads back to the initial question, just where did the system come from?

Time, he needed time to seek everything, to seek the answers that were hidden from him by that being.

"If it's against webs that are this durable, then I'm afraid that I'll be helpless against them. Since this is the case, please clear out the webs for me while I stall the spider, once you're done with incinerating those troublesome webs, assist me in taking down the spider. We need to increase our speed and keep up the momentum."

"Alright." Ace wasn't a chatty person, but he had already taken action, burning a large area of webs while Sova remained closed to him, keeping a lookout for the spider which was probably alerted and hiding in wait.

Knowing that the spider had the patience, Ace decided to bring things another step further, making use of his fire law, he formed arrows of flames in the air creatively around him, even though this was his first time manipulating the flame to such an extent, it was surprisingly smooth throughout the process.

The arrows were released into the air, landing in different locations of the spider's home, incinerating its webs at an immense speed, the flames were raging on, too ferocious to be stopped by the spider which had already appeared, it was trying to use its webs to stop the fire spread, but it was pointless.

Even when the spider decided to sacrifice a large portion of the webs by cutting the burning parts away from its webs, it was futile. Too many areas had been lit up in flames by Ace.

"Sova, that was unexpected from me wasn't it? Now then, we can end this swiftly while the spider is in an enraged state."

Ace wasn't being foolish, even though the spider being enraged meant that its combat strength right now would be at its peak, that was exactly what he wanted.

They had no time to waste, not only on the second floor, but in their entire life, with the current mindset of the spider, both sides would be going all out without holding back, the battle would be over in a flash.

If it was under usual circumstances, the spider might have been able to keep its calm and retreat. But on the second floor, this was the only home it had.

As for its guardian, it couldn't help but laugh and send a transmission voice to it, "Prepare to be resurrected, I'll rebuild the webs for you."

Ace and Sova unsheathed their swords, both of them prepared to end this swiftly in one move.

Ace gathered his slaughter law into his sword, infusing its essence into his sword which was devouring the blood, it was feasting before the grand meal before its eyes.

As for Sova, he cultivated the law of the guardians, one where he swore an oath to protect every innocent life in this world. The stronger his will, the stronger his sword, the stronger he is.

The spider wasn't backing down without a fight either, it was undead in the Sword Tower which gave it courage, it might be shameful to lose a battle, but if the spider manages to fight to the death and accept its fear of death, then a greater future awaits it, the path to becoming a Saint beast would open up for it.
