Capítulo 52: C-rank Trainer
Austin was waiting for Muliere to explain the second part. Muliere pointed to the course where some targets began to pop up from the ground and from some of the obstacles. Some of the targets were colored red while others where blue.
"There are 20 red targets and 20 blue targets that will pop up and then retreat at random intervals," he continued. "The objective is to hit all the red targets with an attack, any attack. You will have two minutes to hit all 20 red targets. You may not hit any of the blue targets. If you hit three of the blue targets you will fail. Again, your Pokemon will have to dodge attacks in the form of rubber balls."
"Now since your second Pokemon is flying type I will tell you the restrictions." Muliere said.
"Your togetic is not allowed to fly higher than the highest obstacle. He is also not allowed to leave the boundary of the course until he either finishes the test or fails and hits 3 Blue targets. Violating either one of these restriction will result in immediate disqualification." Muliere emphasized. "There is also cannons firing at togetic so it must also dodge them. 6 hits and its disqualified."
Austin nods this one is a bit harder. Eevee would have easily passed this but togepi might need to do some work. Austin begins to instruct togetic as he only has five minutes. Togetic was excited and was ready to go. It signaled Austin that it understood and went to start the test.
Muliere started the test and targets began to pop out. Togetic began firing hidden power skillfully at the red targets. It was difficult for it to dodge and fire but it was slowly manage.
A rubber ball was headed towards togetic from it's blind spot. Bang it hit togetic from the side. No damage was done but the hidden power it fired was directed to a nearby blue one.
"Calm down togetic and focus you got this." Austin said loudly calming togetic down. Then it used fairy wind and directed the hidden power towards the red target. Togetic resumed its attacks and finally hit the twentieth red target successfully without getting hit. It flew happily since it completed the task and got hit with another ball. It wasn't paying attention and this made Austin realize that he needs to make it train to use it's strength better.
"Congrats kid you passed the second exam the final exam is a battle. This is Kevin a B-rank trainer, he will be your opponent." Muliere said.
Austin made sure his Pokemon were in good condition and prepared to fight. He felt he could win as his eevee was strong and togetic was the support. Kevin released two Pokemon his first Pokemon was a breloom and second a liepard. These two seemed strong but Austin felt he had a shot.
They approached opposite sides of the battle field.
"Ok now when you hear the whistle begin." Muliere yelled.
*whistle sound*
"Eevee combo 10, togetic fly high and use fairy wind on Liepard." Austin yelled.
"Breloom quick Mach punch, liepard assist."
(Author note: in this story assist does not become a move from any Pokemon you own. It instead quickly uses a move that can further help its partner.)
Eevee dodged with double team and sped away with agility. Breloom hit empty air and the assist from liepard failed as it tried to use fake out. Eevee was just too fast for this move.
The fairy wind hit both Breloom and liepard. It damaged liepard but not by much due to different level.
"Liepard snark at togetic, Breloom follow with a sky upper cut." Kevin quickly orders.
"Eevee go for it strike Breloom with a headbutt, togetic use sweet kiss and hidden power. " Austin follows up.
The snark hit togetic and sent it further back. Togetic managed to use sweet kiss on liepard but failed. It's then quickly fired the hidden power. Eevee zoomed in out of nowhere and headbutted breloom. This caused it to fail using its move. Togetic's hidden power hits Breloom. Eevee couldn't follow up as it used double team again to dodge a slash from liepard but was hit with its follow up pursuit.
"Eevee hang in there use agility and hit liepard with an iron tail. Togetic quickly use fairy wind and follow with secret power."
"Liepard quick use shadow ball on togetic and Breloom use protect."
"Togetic continue with the fairy wind, eevee change it up use quick attack and then iron tail. Togetic use secret power on Breloom, I know you can take it down."
Before his opponent can follow, eevee's quick attack disrupted the shadow ball pushing liepard back. The fairy wind quickly hit but Breloom protected itself. Togetic used secret power and the energy surrounded its body. It slammed down towards Breloom. Breloom not wanting to give in used counter. Both Togetic and Breloom crashed and boom. The smoke subside and both were knocked out.
Eevee didn't let liepard recover and instantly appeared on the space above it and used iron tale.
"Liepard night slash above you quick." Kevin urged.
The night slash meet the iron tail head on. Iron tail overpowered the night slash and directly hit liepard into the ground. Eevee jumped to the side breathing heavily. Liepard stood up stared at eevee and then dropped to the ground.
Everyone in the room was silent. Austin took down a B rank. Although these Pokemon weren't his main team members, they were strong. Yet this was the first time a D-rank defeated a B-rank trainer. The way he was able to coordinate with his Pokemon. Especially eevee he didn't need to order most of the time. The training was embedded deep in it's body. Austin's Togetic was pretty useful in hurting liepard by type advantage. It was also strong enough to face off against Breloom causing a double knockout.
Austin felt that his Togetic needed more training. If it wasn't for its abilities and moves it would have easily been beaten by his opponent. If he could also strengthen its physical attributes like eevee with weights then it wouldn't have been knocked out.
If the others found out that Austin wasn't satisfied, they would probably beat him up.
"Congrats you pass and have become a C-rank but defeating a B-tank means you are qualified to become one. We decided to hand you a B-class trainers card." Muliere said after discussing it with the others.
Austin shook his head and said "no thanks. If he went seriously or used his main Pokemon I couldn't have won. I am satisfied with the C-rank upgrade."
Austin then faced Kevin who felt better after hearing Austin's words, "thank you for the battle, I learned a lot. Next time I will beat you at your best."
Kevin felt much better and viewed Austin in another light. He nodded at him without responding. Austin handed his trainers card to Muliere and went towards eevee.
"I could have done it without you buddy. We really come a long way. I know the answer to this but would you like to continue keeping me company on my journey." Austin said while petting eevee. Eevee was satisfied with having Austin as a trainer. He took care of it, groomed it. Austin trained her to be stronger and never treated it like a thing. It wanted to remain by his side.
Suddenly eevee turned into a bright light and began to grow. Austin was shocked but excited. Eevee should have evolved a while ago but for some reason it didn't. Austin was looking expectant at it. Will it evolve into an espion, it is morning outside. Soon eevee evolution ended and it started at Austin who was shocked. "Wow I can't believe you evolved into a....
