Capítulo 563: I Am Mane Harbinger: IX

Ancestor Origin reappeared through another space portal. But that one was much farther away from Mane than all the others. The oldest ancestor landed on both knees with an audible thud as jets of blood escaped his nostrils and mouth. His eyes were hazy and his breath shaky, and his entire body shook in pain and misery. Once his entire body made it out of the space portal, it became obvious why he was in so much pain. For his body was in pieces, tattered and torn apart by Mane's earlier strike.

The entire left side of Ancestor Origin's body had been vaporized, with the inner armor that covered that section long destroyed as well. His left arm had been completely destroyed and the upper section of his left chest wasn't spared either, leaving only his neck intact. The left leg had it better than the arm, for it hadn't been completely destroyed. But while it survived total annilation, its state made one wonder what good it was. More than half of the thigh was gone and the area below the knee, the actual leg, had been completely destroyed. Mane had forced a below knee amputation on the unwilling ancestor!

The eyes of the Origin King were still those of destruction, but the fear and pain that clouded them made it almost impossible to feel the power of those eyes anymore. They shifted uncomfortably within their sockets as the Origin King struggled to hold on, keeping his body from giving up through nothing but sheer will and determination. For his consciousness sought a reprieve, and preventing it from having its way when there was nothing to stay awake for took a tremendous amount of effort. So great was the effort required and the strain it put on him that Ancestor Origin didn't notice that Mane had already made a beeline for him immediately the portal he escaped from showed signs of activity. And by the time his weary mind picked up the charge of the relentless Supreme who had brought him to his knees, the young man was only a meter away from him.

*Grip*

Ancestor Origin's eyes shook helplessly as he backpedaled furiously, hoping to reenter the portal he had just escaped from before Mane could get there. And while he noticed the young Supreme at a much slower rate than he normally would have, he was almost about to slip into the portal to safety when Mane extended his palms towards the Origin King like he was summoning something from the oldest ancestor of the Elemental Race. Ancestor Origin's surprise only lasted a moment seeing Mane's actions before two sharp whistling sounds caught his attention and brought an unhealthy bit of extra paleness to his already blood deprived face.

"The swords," he mumbled, realizing that the sly Supreme never lost control of his weapons, but allowed them to obey him for just a brief moment so that he would believe that he had pulled the blades out of the young Supreme's hands.

"I was deceived from the very beginning," Ancestor Origin gritted his teeth in frustration as the sharp winds behind him slammed into him and created their own holes.

*Bang*

*Puchi*

Night Mare and Night's Kiss bore into Ancestor Origin with a fury that was as strong as that of an avenger seeking justice for his murdered family. Both easily broke past the much weakened inner armor and sank into Ancestor Origin's flesh without any remorse. They bypassed flesh, broke into muscle, tore apart rib bones and destroyed Ancestor Origin's lungs, causing the Origin King's eyes to lose most of their light; though in this case the accurate description would be that they lost most of their darkness. The force of their penetration sent the Origin King back into Mane's path, forcefully halting his retreat and undoing his efforts to get away.

Ancestor Origin's state was pitifully miserable to say the least. And many would have regarded him as a beaten opponent. They may have even let him off the hook. But before seasoned warriors these people would have been seen as naïve children who didn't understand the way of the world. And Mane belonged to the latter category. His eyes flashed with an ominous light as he closed down the broken Ancestor Origin. What he declared from the beginning still held weight in his heart and influenced the direction of his mind's thinking. The Origin King had to die. If not for anything, for those pair of eyes that he possessed. And Mane smashed apart every thought of sparing the Origin King with his fists – both of them.

With a great leap Mane dived into the Origin King's path. He pulled back his arms and drew strength into his shoulders and elbows. He curled his fingers into fists and gathered Edict into both of them. Like a mighty bow he tightened his sinews and then pounced, pushing all his gathered energy onto the helpless Origin King.

"Splintering Fist"

*Bang*

*Poof*

Ancestor Origin's battered body was broken even further. What remained of his lower body was forcefully torn away from what remained of his upper body. Ancestor Origin's dimming eyes dimmed even further. Eyes of Destruction disappeared and his eyes reverted to their grey color. And along with their disappearance, the portals that the Origin King summoned disappeared. Mane watched with an unmoving expression as the two halves of the Origin King's body went their separate ways, each one floating in the wind helplessly. And then with absolute disregard he stretched out his hands and recalled Night Mare and Night's Kiss.

*Shiver*

*Shink*

Both blades flew into Mane's hands with unconcealed joy. And Mane swiftly sheathed them once they returned to him. Then he walked to Ancestor Origin's upper body and grabbed it by the neck, lifting the Ancestor before him like a broken rag doll. The man was still alive; his body receiving sustenance from the surrounding Edict which refused to take a hint.

"I must admit: this was easier than I thought," Mane mumbled to the hearing of the defeated Ancestor.

It sounded grossly disrespectful but Mane was being sincere. He had envisioned a much more difficult fight when Ancestor Origin appeared the second time with his Eyes of Destruction beaming through his soul like a predator from the ancient times. Yet the oldest king to have ever ruled the True Universe had been let down by the poor physique of the Elemental Race, limiting his abilities to less than a quarter of what he could truly display. In the end he didn't lost to Mane; he lost to Elementals.

"There is something you should know kid," Ancestor Origin 'looked' into Mane's eyes calmly, his gaze nothing like that of a man about to die. Mane was impressed by his calm demeanor, something he found quite odd because the Origin King was clearly an ambitious man. Having prepared for many years to return to the True Universe, he should have been maddened into a crazy frenzy upon losing everything, especially when the other half of his power stood right in front of him.

"What do I need to know?" Mane couldn't help but wonder. What exactly made the Origin King so calm?

"Hehe. At such a close distance…" the Origin King smirked as his eyes transformed and Eyes of Destruction were recalled.

"I can take back what is mine!" the oldest ancestor cackled as a red glow escaped his eyes and engulfed Mane's entire body. And soon both men's eyes lost their focus as the battle resumed in a different setting – Mane's soul!

"What a naïve little brat," the Origin King chuckled as his eyes roamed Mane's Soul Scape. But he had hardly had the time to celebrate when a voice that was very foreign to him mocked his ignorance.

"Is he now?" Cronos appeared right next to the Origin King, stunning the newest visitor to Mane's Soul Space.

"Who are you?" the Origin King asked as his Eyes of Destruction twirled within his eye sockets.

"Cut that out. That thing doesn't work here." Cronos waved nonchalantly at the Origin King's attempts to use his power here. And the oldest ancestor found out to his dismay that he indeed couldn't summon a single iota of strength here.

"How?" Ancestor Origin was stunned by the revelation. He took a few steps back to create some distance between himself and Cronos. It was only now that he suddenly noticed that he couldn't even see Cronos's face nor his body. Everything was a large blur.

"You really are an old coot," Cronos mocked and gestured behind him. His throne appeared so that he could take his seat and speak to Ancestor Origin from a position of authority.

"Well I don't blame you. In your time many of the paths weren't properly understood. Scholars, Spiritualists, and even Seers weren't that common because you artefacts understood little. And that made you underestimate us."

The Origin King lived in an era where he controlled everything and was subject to no one. So obviously he didn't know anything about the gods who were now budding. And in those days, the oath of wielders hadn't been established and many gods were still discovering their ways. So the Origin King's knowledge was a bit outdated. It was because of this that all he knew about Scholars was gained from his knowledge of Ashera and that he knew so little about Spiritualists. And though he had many successors after that, he had never succeeded in subduing any of them.

"You see Mane has this skill called Devour. With it he can take whatever isn't his and make it his. Didn't you notice that you have no control over True Eyes at all?"

Ancestor Origin was forced to think and he realised that Cronos was right. Although he could sense the power of True Eyes from Mane, he had no other connection to it. While it was true that upon severing his power from his real body he tethered his soul to his Eyes of Destruction, a small portion of his will remained in True Eyes. And logically even if he hadn't been able to wrestle control over the coveted pupils from Mane, he should have been capable of causing a few glitches here and there and a few issues that should have given him an edge. And that is why Cronos didn't care much for the soul before him. If he truly had knowledge and understanding of souls like Scholars and Spiritualists did, the Origin King would have been able to split his soul into two instead.

"Mane allowed you to come here because he needed you," Cronos yawned lazily and said.

"He needed me?" Ancestor Origin asked with a stunned expression.

"Yep. How else would he get the Eyes of Destruction without subduing your soul?" Cronos laughed heartily, his voice sending a chill down the Origin King's spine.
