Capítulo 8: HIS FAMILY

After leaving the mansion of Old Master, Steve and Jessica dropped Amy at the Fang mansion and had their dinner with the Fangs.

As Steve and Jessica sat in the car, Steve looked at his phone to see the messages and missed calls from his parents. 'They must be worried.'

"I think I will stay at the Fang Mansion if you agree," Jessica said as she leaped on the car window.

"Uhh… I want you to come with me." Steve said as he looked stared into Jessica's eyes. "OK!" Jessica said and straighten up to wave Amy goodbye before getting into the car.

"Where are we going?" Jessica asked with her eyes filled with curiosity.

"To my family mansion so you could meet my parents," Steve said plainly. Firstly Jessica paid no reaction and only hummed in return. When she finally got what he meant she was dumbstruck. 'How could he not tell her before. I am going to die. I have no experience in meeting people after all the time I have to spend abroad.'

Seeing the panic on the face of Jessica Steve assured her that it was all okay and his parents were waiting for her.

Jessica felt her heart almost stop beating when the car entered through a huge gate and into a lavish and elegant Mansion.

"Come on get out, Jessica. My parents are not monsters who will eat you up." Jessica came out of her daze when Steve's voice rang into her ears. She subconsciously moved her head to the car door. Steve was already standing there and looking at Jessica with a noble aura.

Jessica took Steve's hand and walked into the mansion as all the servants came out and greeted them. The servants were almost blind from seeing their Master coming with an elegant lady for the very first time.

With every step, Jessica could feel her heart pounding at even a faster rate. As they reached the living room, Jessica saw two men and a very beautiful woman around a huge round table.

"Mom! I have someone who I want to introduce you to." Steve said as he took Jessica and sat on the sofa near the table.

The eyes of the woman sparkled with joy when she saw Jessica with Steve. She excitedly got up and pulled Jessica into an embrace. Jessica could feel the motherly warmth this woman that she once felt from her own mom. The memory of her mom made tears fall from her eyes.

Feeling something off, the woman who embraced Jessica pulled away and saw the misty eyes of Jessica. Without a second thought, she hit Steve and said in an angry voice, "How dare you bully my Daughter-in-law? Jessica, don't cry if he said something you can tell me."

Hearing that Jessica was crying the men on the table stood up and blocked the space between Jessica and Steve and started scolding him. These two men were Steve's father and grandfather while the woman was Steve's mother. They had received the message of Steve and were waiting for them to come home.

"No… It's not his fault.*sob* I just miss my mother.*sob*…" Jessica said trying hard to control her sobs. Mrs. Smith took the glass of water and made Jessica drink some before hugging her tightly and said, "I am also your mother. If you miss your mother you can always come to me."

The two men looked at Jessica with a loving expression. They could not help but move towards this cute little girl and introduce themselves. Steve who was carefully observing everything felt a bit relaxed when the depressing mode depleted away as his family laughed at his grandfather's lame jokes.

*Ding*

the phone screen lit up as it viewed a new message. Steve looked at his phone and his face turned dark. "Steve! Can you let your phone a bit of time to rest?" Mrs. Smith said as she glared at Steve. "Yeah! You should listen to your mom" said Mr. Smith.

"Right, Jessica came home for the first time and you are too busy on your phone," said Grandpa Smith.

"Pftttt….. See his expressions….hahaha….. It's so… funny….. hahaha" Jessica could not stop but laugh when she saw the helpless and innocent expressions on the face of Steve. It was like he was being scolded by his elders for stealing something and now he was playing innocent.

Jessica did not notice that the people around her froze when they saw her laughing life careless child. She appeared to be so cute and adorable. Everyone felt that if they could treasure this laughter they would be the happiest family ever. Feeling the gazes on her Jessica tried hard to suppress her laughter and said, "I… I am sorry."

She stared back at the people as the people around her could not help but feel even happier to see her face which was as red as a tomato after so much laughing.

"Uhh….. Can I have some water? My stomach hurts from so much…" As her sentence finished the men standing behind her started laughing while Mrs. Smith got up and passed a glass of water to Jessica. She scolded the three men for making fun of Jessica and said to them to give the ladies some privacy.

After no one was in sight and the ladies were alone Mrs. Smith took the hand of Jessica and said in a soft loving voice, "Thank you! You were able to let those three smile after almost a century. Jessica, feel free to come to me when you need anything." Jessica smiled and said, "I should be the one to thank you, Mrs. Smith."

"No need to be so formal just call me mom. Come I will show you your room." Mrs. Smith took Jessica to the room prepared for her. Steve and Jessica were not married so they stayed in their respective rooms.

Mrs. Smith walked out of the room after having a short chat with Jessica. As she was out suddenly she felt that someone was standing behind her. she abruptly turned around to only discover two men standing there with a curious look on their faces. Mrs. Smith heaved a deep sigh and slowly closed the door behind her.

"Did she like the room? Is she comfortable? What are the things you talked about?" as soon as the room's door was shut Mrs. Smith was questioned by her husband and father-in-law.

"She is fine. She was tired so I let her sleep. Regarding the talks, we can wait till tomorrow morning and do it with Steve." she assured both of them. After a short discussion, they went to their respective rooms feeling very sleepy.

At midnight,

A shadow quickly moved in the corridor without making the slightest of noise. The person was as fast as a gust of wind. The person moved out of the door and into a black car which was well hidden in the bushes.

As the car approached the dark forest near the Mansion it turned into a grey color as a logo of a flying dragon appeared on the sides of the car. The car moved down a ramp and stopped in the middle of a deserted parking space. A man dressed in a black hoodie that covered his face came out of the car and went into a room with other three people waiting for him stepped forward and greeted him.

......…

The next day, Smith Family Mansion

Jessica woke up as the sunlight came into her room through the windows. She got u from the bed and stretched before taking a shower and dressing up to go downstairs.

Jessica walked down the stairs with a noble aura surrounding her. She wore a pair of royal blue trousers and a simple white shirt. She looked fairy-like in even casual and simple clothes that all stared at her their eyes almost out of their sockets.

Suddenly everyone who was staring at the girl felt as if someone was looking down on them from the top of the stairs. As they saw up the stairs they spotted a man with an evil grin on his face looking at them with a lethal aura. Seeing his evilness everyone lowered their gaze as Steve walked down and sat next to Jessica who had already started eating.

Steve took a slide glance at Jessica. Her face was a slight red as she had just taken a bath, her hair was not fully dried and her beautiful eyes glimmered like they were made of thousands of glimmering stars. He continued to stare at her as she looked leading to his eyes until someone hit his head with a spoon.

"Stop gazing at her like a wild beast staring at its prey. Eat your food and let others eat too." Mrs. Smith shouted in anger at her son. Steve just lowered his head and did not lift it unless his bowl was empty.

"Come to my study after you are done eating," Steve said as he stared at Jessica with a somewhat angry expression.

"Ok!" Jessica said as she continued eating in a carefree and with no rush. This pissed Steve off and he shot an angry look at Jessica before leaving with a grumpy face as if he was a child who had been denied his favorite dessert even after he was promised to get it.

*Knock*Knock*

"Come in" ordered the person inside the room. Jessica walked in and saw the serious expression on Steve's face. Steve looked up at Jessica who was still at door. "Sit on the sofa. I will talk to you once I am over with this project." Steve said as he gestured towards the sofa his eyes still on the computer screen.

Jessica came into the room and sat down on the sofa taking the book on the coffee table and flipping through it. After reading about a few chapters, Jessica felt a bit bore. She stood up and went to the windows admiring the sceneries outside. The mansion was surrounded by a very beautiful garden with a lot of colorful flowers. The colors stood out even more in contrast to the long-spread dense green forest.

"It is beautiful!?" the man who was just busy with his work had stood up and walked towards Jessica. "Yeah. It's more than beautiful." Jessica said her eyes still fixed outside. "Hmmm….. Let's talk about some business now." Steve said as he walked back towards the desk and took out a blue folder from the first drawer.
