"So, where do you want me to drop you? Directly to City D or somewhere else?" Wang Yi Mei asked her younger sister. Wang Yi Ling thought for a few seconds before she answered, "Drop me off at Jazz Hotel." Wang Yi Mei quizzically looked at her.
"Jazz Hotel?" She asked, bewildered as to why her baby sister would go to the hotel. She was expected her to ask her to send her to the bus terminal. Weird...
"Yeah, Jazz Hotel." Short and precisely meant it. She was feeling lethargically exhausted after went through the storm. How much she wished to unwind for a couple of time before go back to university and resumed her normal life as an undergraduate. She needed time to churn the fact that her mother, Zhen MingYa willingly to cast aside her and her sister for the sake of keeping family tradition and her unbelievable superstitious belief. Instead of giving her blessing, she absolutely went against the marriage! How unbelievable!
She slowly closed her eyes, leaning at the seat and her fingers tapping furiously on her thighs, seemingly deep in her thought. She knew she shouldn't behave the way she did, but she couldn't help to feel that her mother's behavior was rather utterly unacceptable. How on earth did a mother willingly to sacrifice her daughter's happiness for her stupid beliefs?
If only her mother be more open-minded and be more acceptant to the way the new generation thinks. It would be awesome! Unfortunately, her mother was someone who possessed weird belief and way too rigid to keep her daughters to herself. How unlucky and sad for her daughters to have a mother like that.
"Hey, what are you thinking about?" Wang Yi Mei's question brought her back to the reality.
"Nothing. Just some trivial matter," she replied, faked a smile and looked around.
"Oh, we've arrived?" Wang Yi Mei watched her, concerned about her. Wang Yi Mei knew her sister was feeling miserable inside, because she was the most closest to their mother. She had never react the way she did earlier. Most of the time, she would concede to their mother's wish.
She vaguely remembered their mother was the one that had interfered with Wang Yi Ling's decision for the courses she wanted to pursue. She had insisted for Wang Yi Ling to take up business as her major in university. But, this only lasted for a year because Wang Yi Ling had miserably failed her examination that year. Seeing Wang Yi Ling's failures in the examination, their mother finally let her to choose her course.
At first when Wang Yi Ling told her about her wish to take up Education course; her mother was a little bit hesitant. But soon, she let her be. Maybe it was the best for her.
"You should just tell me whatever in your mind. After all we are sisters, by blood." Wang Yi Mei said. She patted Wang Yi Ling's shoulder. Wang Yi Ling sighed. She would rather to keep everything to herself because she didn't want to burden her sister.
"Sis Yi Mei, don't worry. I'll be fine. I am more concern about you though." She inhaled deeply. She looked into her sister's eyes, trying to figure out her thoughts. Wang Yi Mei smiled bitterly. She knew her sister was worried for her.
"Silly. Don't worry about me. I have Li Qiang to talk to. But you…"
"I have my studies," Wang Yi Ling cut her line. "Alright then, you better get going. I'll just crash here for the time being." She said hurriedly and got off the car swiftly. Wang Yi Mei waved her goodbye then drove off. Leaving Wang Yi Ling alone at the hotel's entrance. Wang Yi Ling looked up at the sky, realized that it was a little bit cloudy. She quickly entered the hotel and checked in. After she got her room card, she swiftly moved to elevator.
Ding! She had arrived at the level of her room. When the door opened, the first person she saw was Chen Yi, in his black shirt and jeans. Chen Yi was clearly surprised to see her in the elevator.
"Yi Ling?" Wang Yi Ling smiled. She quickly stepped off the elevator.
"Hi!" She greeted him. Chen Yi chuckled. Wang Yi Ling sure knew how to make his day brighter. He gave her a warm welcome hug. He didn't expect to see her here. At first, he was worried about her when she did not reply her messages, not even answered his phone calls. Now that she was stood in front of him, he finally felt relieved.
"Why did you here?" he asked with a glint of concern in his tone.
"Of course I come to see you!" she replied him casually. His heart began to race, adrenaline pumped that caused him stunned for a while. But, he could feel something amiss with the way she looked. He looked at her intently but didn't dare to ask her. Then, he saw she was holding a room card in her hand. He looked at her, puzzled. Could something have happened to her?
"You're staying?" he curiously inquired. Wang Yi Ling shrugged. She shook her head before lowered her gaze. She really didn't want to say anything at all. Not for the time being. She felt dejected and exhausted.
"You're not? Then, this room card is for?" He asked.
"I meant to nod my head, sorry," she mumbled before she started to walk towards her room. Chen Yi followed her. He was worried about her. Seeing her current state, he wished to stay with her and shared whatever burden she faced. He confidently felt that she had a problem but did not want to talk about it. What he could do best was silently accompany her.
Once they entered her room, he helped her with a glass of mineral water. Wang Yi Ling took the glass and gulped down the water without thinking too much. She didn't know why she was suddenly felt so nervous. Her heart was beating too fast that she barely could breathe properly. Chen Yi watched her with a pained expression.
Wang Yi Ling sat on the bed, completely in dazed. Chen Yi took his seat next to her, preparing to console her although he didn't know where to start. Wang Yi Ling looked at him, blinked her eyes in confusion. She too, didn't know what to say to him. They stared each other for few minutes before she suddenly leaned on his shoulder, tears flowing free from her eyes.
Chen Yi was petrified with the situation. He had never seen her crying. He slowly wiped her tears.
"I'm here for you," his voice hoarse due to this sudden turned of event. He wrapped her in his arms, gently hushed her to console her. After few good minutes, he turned to look at her face. He realized that the girl was fall asleep in her tears. His heart ached for her.
He gently laid her on the bed, covered her with the thick white blanket. He kissed her forehead lightly before caress her teary cheeks. He wished he could share her burdens. Now he was confirmed that something must have happened to her that she has to come and stay at the hotel.
Suddenly her phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw it was her sister. He swiftly took the phone and answered her.
"Yi Ling, I have safely arrived at my home. How about you? Are you okay?" Wang Yi Mei's voice rang through the phone.
"She's fine," Chen Yi answered her. Then, silent.
"And you are?" Wang Yi Mei asked him.
"Chen Yi," he replied.
"Ah... Chen Yi. Please take a good care of her." She said.
"She has a rough day today," She added, there was concern in her voice. Chen Yi looked at the girl who was sleeping soundly. She looked fragile and weak at the moment. He was really worried about her.
"I will, don't worry Sis Yi Mei," he assured her.
"Thanks Xiao Yi. Alright then, bye." Then she ended the call. Chen Yi took a deep breath and contemplated for a long time before he sighed.
"I am always here for you Yi Ling. Anytime you needed someone to talk to" He said quietly and watched her with a loving gaze. After he adjusted the room's temperature, he took one last glance before he walked out the room to buy some food for her.
