Zhang Xiulan was in a hurry. She had pulled all nighters for 2 consecutive nights to meet deadlines for the current project which was entrusted to her team. She had finally caught some sleep only to wake up late. when she realized she had 15 minutes to get ready and leave for office she bolted off her bed, got ready in record speed and fled her apartment. She caught a taxi to Lan Corps. (the company for which she works)
She alighted from the taxi and made a mad dash to the company as she remembered that there was a meeting scheduled at 9:30 am. It was for the introduction of the new chairman who was taking over this huge corporation. Xiulan glanced at her watch to notice that there was literally 5 minutes left. She got into the elevator and pressed on the number 51 (indicating the 51st floor). She got off the elevator and entered the meeting room in the nick of time. She heaved a sigh in relief and went to take a seat. She took in deep breaths to calm her racing heart and wiped off a few beads of sweat from her brows. She made small talk with her colleagues until a commotion happened at the entrance of the conference room. The old chairman Lan Feng came in with a man in tow along with the vice presidents.
After they settled themselves on stage, the old chairman gave a brief introduction on the new chairman that was his son, Lan Jingfeng.
Xiulan, who was listening to the old chairman's words felt uncomfortable, as if someone was watching her. She took her eyes off 5he old chairman and scanned the room. Finding nothing out of the ordinary, she directed her gaze at the stage only to find the new chairman staring at her. She noticed that Lan Jingfeng had sharp features that made him look like a king, he even gave off that kingly aura but something about his gaze was disturbing. She felt very uncomfortable under his gaze and she couldn't understand why. She tore her gaze and focussed on the chairman again.
After the old chairman and the new chairman spoke, the employees were dismissed and they went back to their respective departments. The people who were called to attend this meeting were all above the Managerial level. Xiulan was the head of the planning department. As soon as she reached her office, her assistant Meng Xin came in with a huge smile, a coffee in one hand and a document in the other.
