It was new year day. When Keinichi opened his eyes, it was already noon. Last night, he and Cacha joined the party on the beach to welcoming the new year. After that they stayed on the other side of the beach and watched the sunrise
He turned on his side and stared at the girl who was still fast a sleep next to him. Only heaven knew how blissful he was to have her. He caressed her cheek her a peck on her lips.
Cacha who was awoken when his finger touched her face groaned "why do you have bad habit to steal my kiss on new year day ?"
He laughed "Do I ? As far as I remember, I do it every morning. Babe, it's noon already. Lets get up"
She yawned "Mm.. I'm starving"
He twitched, his woman never changed. She was still a foody like before.
"goor morning Mum, Dad, nana, Grand. Happy new year" Cacha greeted the elders.
"Happy new year"
Mrs Feng looked at the clock "It's nearly 1 o'clock. It suppose afternoon not morning" and shook her head helplessly. This girl was really something, should she put effort to please her boyfriend's grandparents.
Grandma Anderson laughed "They were only back after sunrise. It's perfectly normal for then to wake up late" then she glared at her grandson "You boy, can you wish us happy new year ?" She wondered how her ignorance grandson would gain favour from his future parents in law
Kenichi felt wrong. It was not that he did want to wish them happy new year, he just had not had the chance. Hewas about to greet the elders when Mrs feng scolded . Nonetheless, he put a big smile "Happy new year'
"Happy new year"
Grandpa Anderson spoke "Cha, are you hungry yet ? I'm so hungry, lets have lunch"
Cacha was stunned "You guys haven't had lunch yet ?"
"We had a late breakfast today"
Cacha and Kenichi obediently sat on the dinning table and enjoyed the lunch. They found out that it was rather amusing lunch. Grandma Anderson placed a lot of food to Cacha's plate while Mrs Feng gave it to Kenichi. who belong to whose now ?
After lunch, they did not have anything to do. Theu just sat and engaged in light conversations.
After while Grandma Anderson was bored. She wanted to take Cacha with her for shopping "Cha, do you mind to take me to shop nearby. I want to buy something"
"sure. Nana, what do you want to buy ?"
"a bit of this and that" Grandma went to her room to get her wallet. When she was back to the living room, she dragged her husband to go with her and Cacha.
When Three of them were gone, Kenichi took the change to express what he had been thinking for the least few days.
"Dad, Mum, there is something that I want to talk with you ?"
Mr and Mr Feng exchanged glance. "What is it ?" Mr Feng asked.
Kenichi took a deep breath to calm his nerves, he was very nervous "I wish to move to the next stage of our relationship"
"you mean .." Mrs Feng was not sure if she was right.
"I ask your permission to marry your youngest daughter"
Mr Feng chuckled "is it the reason why you are very nice to us ?" He was half serious, half joking.
Mrs Feng slapped her husband thight and glared to him.
Kenichi was startled. He had to ckear the miss understandond "It is not like that. I.."
"Don't mind him. My husband has weird taste of joke" Mrs Feng said "Keinichi, is it because we allow you two to share bed ?"
"Well, it is not the main reason. I've been thinking to speak with you for while. I'm really serious with her. I really love her, I don't want and can't seperate from her"
Mr Feng smiled "Boy, marriage is different from dating. When you are dating, you can easily break up but not when you are married. Marriage is a life time commitment. Love by it self is not enough for marriage life"
"I am fully understand and I'm ready for it"
Mr Feng nodded. He understood how blind were people who were mad in love "Boy, can I ask you a question. You don't need to answer it now, but think about it carefully"

"I know, you two had disagreement fee days ago. I do understand she crossed your bottom line. I am sure it was not her first time she did it. I tell you, She didn't mean to challenge you, it was because her personality. She grew up spoil by her siblings. I admit that I spoilt her as well. Compare to her other siblings, I was to linient to her. I was hardly angry at her. If her mother scolded her, Not only me, her siblings stood by her. She also has alot of shortcomings. Will you be able to tolerate these side of her for the rest of your life ?"
Kenichi closed his eyes. Mr Feng was right, there were few times she did something that made him not happy such as styled his hair to funny way, ignoring him when her friend was around or throwing tantrum like a child. They were annoyed him but He was fine back then. He knew that he would be ok in the future "It shouldn't be a problem"
"Boy !! I told you not to answer me now. Think about it carefully,when you have answer you come and talk to me again"
Mrs feng signed "Kenichi, please don't think that we don't like you, we love you. I'm personally very glad that you show us how much you love my little one. But, please think carefully ok ?"
"I'll. I am confident my answer will be the same"
Mr Feng loved his confident"lets wait and see. Brew tea for me, today is little bit chill"
Kenichi smiled "Sure"
Mrs Feng looked at the sky outside "I think it's going to rain. did they take umbrella with them ?"
"They can buy new one. Not too worry" Mr Feng wondered when her wife could free from worrying their kids
Kenichi came back with a pot of hot tea and filled the tea cups "Dad's right. Mum, Don't worry, They can buy new one"
One of them aware that grandpa Anderson were eavesdropping behind the door. He was back a while ago to fetch umbrella. However, he did not come in side because of their conversation
Later at night, when he was with his wife on their room, he told her about the conversation between Kenichi and The Fengs. They both agreed that the Feng were right. They were old school who valued married as sacred relationship.
They did not want any fail marriage in their family. From their son case, yhey had learned how painful a divorce was for the child. They did not want it happen again. So, They agreed to give Kenichi time to rethink and would not push him.
