Capítulo 40: Have You Two Met Before?
Still at Bhatt Conglomerates...
The business meeting had ended for the day. Business competitors were leaving the board room one after the other.Rohit and his assistant were the last ones to leave the board room.
The president of Bhatt Conglomerates, Ravi Bhatt was the first one to exit the board room and has since gotten to his office but his son, the vice president Vijay Bhatt was seen in the lobby.
He was on the phone a while ago, his phone rang before he got to his office, he decided to finish his call at the lobby before heading to his office.
Usually he always answers her calls at his office and if he gets a call at the lobby, as he speaks on his phone, he heads to his office aswell but he wanted a change of scenery when on the phone today.
As he was about to head to his office, he suddenly saw Rohit and his assistant approaching him. Rohit wanted to chat a little with him before they exited Bhatt Conglomerates so he beckoned on his assistant to wait a little while longer.
Vijay was friendly, he was a great business man aswell. He and Rohit were already on friendly terms after the ball. So he waited for them as they approached him.
By this time, the other competitors had exited the building, but it was still working hours, so the staffs were on ground working in their various departments.
Namaste, Rohit and his assistant greeted, namaste Vijay responded. We were on our way out when we stumbled upon you on the lobby so we decided to talk to you briefly before we left.
Is that so? Vijay asked on a friendly note. Yes responded Rohit. And I hope it isn't about business? because business meeting just ended and you should be patient like the others, Vijay continued.
Ah no Mr. Vijay, it's just on friendly terms said Rohit. Alright Mr. Rohit replied Vijay. Well it is still working hours, why don't... Before he could finish his statement his sister Sunita Bhatt interrupted him. He was so focused on Rohit that he did not notice when she came close.
Namaste Vijay, namaste gentlemen. Namaste miss, Rohit and his assistant responded. Sorry to interrupt you Vijay, I came to see you at the office today but your office is locked, your secretary informed me you were here May I have your office keys please?
Sunita! Vijay exclaimed. You know I don't like it when I get interrupted like that, you should have waited for me. I know, am sorry Vijay, your keys please, she replied.
Alright here you go replied Vijay. As he handed her his office keys, he said, sorry gentlemen, my sister Sunita. Sunita, they are one of the business competitors.
Sunita smiled and said, nice to meet you gentlemen. Nice to meet you too they responded. As she shook hands with them one after the other, she recognized Rohit and said you?
The awed Rohit responded and said, nice to meet you again miss Sunita, am Rohit. Vijay looked at the both of them and said, have you two met before?
Sunita stopped shaking hands and responded, yes Vijay, when I followed my friends back to the hotel after touring the city the other day, I met him at the lobby as I was heading home later.
Ok Sunita, well you have my office keys now, I will join you at the office, you interrupted us remember? Yes Vijay, sorry again she responded and left for his office.
Vijay continued, as I was saying gentlemen, it's still working hours but am going to the club later after closing hours with some business clients for another contract. You two are welcome to join me if you don't mind.
Alright please do give us a call when it is time, we will surely be there. Will do that Mr. Rohit, Vijay replied and they shook hands. While Vijay went to his office, Rohit and his assistant exited the building and headed for lunch.
In the restaurant...
Rohit's assistant teased him that maybe he likes Sunita, that Rohit had lied about why he was late when they wanted to have dinner at the restaurant the other day.
It was Sunita who made you come downstairs late the other night right? Not the document you claimed you were putting together.
Rohit replied and said smiling, stop teasing me, you know I have a fiancee, I can't afford to like another woman.
His assistant replied and said, she isn't any other woman, she is President Bhatt precious daughter. If you can get close to her we can use the opportunity to get on President Bhatt good sides and win the contract.
Rohit brushed him off and said they should continue eating. They ordered some more food, the delicacies they had not tried before.
It tasted good in their mouths and they decided that they will eat this type of delicacies from now on each time they come to eat.
After lunch they left the restaurant downstairs in the hotel and went upstairs to their rooms respectively to rest. They would be going out again later in the evening with Vijay for business and leisure.
When it was 5:30 pm Vijay gave Rohit a call that by 6 pm he will arrive at the hotel to pick them that they should get ready.
When it was 6 pm, Rohit and his assistant got into Vijay's car and his driver drove away in the direction of the club.
At the club, Vijay introduced the clients to Rohit and his assistant. While Vijay did the talking, the assistant that he brought along with him took down notes and added a few of his own ideas.
The clients objected to one or two things, but at the end, a middle ground was met. Both parties signed the contracts afterwards. The clients had few drinks before they left.
Rohit and his assistant, though were not active during the meeting, took the opportunity to learn a little of how Bhatt Conglomerates does business through Vijay.
After the clients left. Vijay ordered some chicken soup and other delicious meals for all to enjoy. On one side Rohit and Vijay discussed while on the other side, their assistants got friendly with themselves and also discussed.
By the time the meals ended, Rohit and Vijay had become real friends. Their assistants too were not left behind, they also became friends.
But Vijay made it clear to Rohit that he won't mix friendship with business. Rohit understood and did not object.
When they were done, Vijay dropped Rohit and his assistant back at the hotel, dropped his own assistant along the way and went home.
