Capítulo 14: A New Beginning For One?
"Bethana"..... "Hey Bethana"
<A touch on my left shoulder brought me back to my senses>
Present Time...
"Earth to Bethanna". I looked up to see Shania. Whom was bent over at the waist peering at me from above. She immediately stood up looking towards the other's.
"See. I told you she isn't fine" exclaimed Meg.
<Sigh>
"I'm fine....Really! Just thinking back to last night and everything since then. It's just so..."
"Unbelievable?" asked Shaina
"Yes. Exactly. I just need some time to get adjusted to this change".
"Well how about getting your own space?" asked Josey.
"Yeah and we can start off by meeting our Tandemins" Shania offered.
<Sigh> "Our Sects, Shaina. We have to be inducted into them first before choosing our Tandmins..." spoke an exasperated Meg.
"Okay. So, why don't we head over to the outdoor concert hall. I mean we've just recieved our invitation and placement numbers" said Shaina.
<Buzz, Buzz> I looked down at my buzzing wrist watch. Then back up at the others. "Oh speak of the devil. Hey, Bethana. Just push that center button on the face of the watch underneath the time" Instructed Meg after seeing the confusion on my face.
Doing as she instructed, a projection of information was suspended in the air in front of me.
"Wow. Is this even possible, right now". I said as I reached out to touch the envelope icon.
"Of course it's possible. It's fae enchanted technology" Shaina confirmed with a short laugh.
I touched the envelope/mail icon which opened up to an email box. Inside was only, one blinking message. That I selected and unfolded in front of my eyes into a letter. Which read as follows:
Greetings Last Daughter, Bethana Khan. "Khan? That sounds so weird. For as long as I've remembered. I've gone by the surname, Harris"
Continuing to read the letter....
You're one of the last few participants to arrive for this 11:00 AM, Monday morning introduction. If you do chose to come at this time. This introduction will allow you to be placed in your yearly class. While providing you with the opportunity to be inducted into 1of the 4 Academy Sects. Please arrive at the outdoor concert hall at 10:40 AM to check in with staff. If you arrive after the designated time. You will be moved to the next morning's introduction ceremony. Reminder: Class and Sect introductions will be taking place Monday through Friday at 11:00 AM.
"Hey what time is it, now?" I asked.
"9:43 AM" stated Meg.
"Should we head over to the dining hall for some break-fast?" asked Josey
"Well we definitely have time before, check-in at the outdoor concert hall. So I don't see why not" commented Meg.
"I'll catch up with you guys. I'm going to go grab Jordie from her dorm and will meet you there" said Shania with a quick wave as she exited the room.
*Time skip
Sitting down at the table to eat with Josey to my right and Meg to my left. While Shania and Jordie were seated in front of us.
I spread the cream cheese on my bagel and directed the following question to my friends'. "So what Sect are you guys' wanting to be inducted into?".
"Wren Sect" said Shaina and Jordie in unison. "I also, would really like Wren Sect as well" responded Meg barely above a whisper. Turning my head towards her. I could see a blush forming across her cheeks. Then smiling to myself. I turned back to look at Josey.
Waiting in suspense for Josey's response. The other did not respond but actually continued to eat without saying a world. The suspension became so great that we all had stopped eating, to stare at her.
"So what Sect are you hoping to get inducted into?" I asked more forcefully.
<Sigh> she placed her fork down and looked up at us. "Leopard Sect" She responded.
"What!" we said in unison.
"Stop lying Josey! We decided on Wren Sect since like forever ago" exclaimed Jordie.
"Is it because of that argument you had with Yoongi? Stop being a baby, that happened when you were children. Before that, the two of you were like two peas in a pod." commented Shania.
Seriously? I asked looking from Shania back to Josey.
"Yes, their thought processes and behaviors are so similar it's scary" added Meg. Then more quietly to herself stated, "Plus you're still just alike".
Overhearing Meg's statment. She exclaimed, "What! I'm nothing like him!"
<My thoughts while wearing a smirk> hmm rough around the edges with no filter but truly a kind hearted person. Definitely not the same. 😏
"Hey, Josey. I really don't think he's that bad. Also, I really think he's similar to you. I found that out by some spending time with him today".
"How am I like that lazy rock? and wipe the smirk of your face" Josey retorted.
🤭 "Oh, I'm so scared" I thought with a snicker. The followed with the comment, "Josey, think about it. When I met you were just the same... Straightforward with no filter. Coming off as...well"
"Savage" inserted Shania. "Agreed" said Meg and Jordie in unison
"Ok fine" she said with a huff.
"Let's not forget you're probably worse than Yoongi when it comes to laying around since your always late" added Shania.
"That's true" Meg said nodding more so to herself.
"Okay. I get it. I'm being childish with dealing with Yoongi. I'll work on it" she said.
"Honestly?" said Jordie with an eyebrow raised.
"Don't push it Jordie" Josey growled out a warning but also eased the tension by adding, "At least save me some face due to being your elder. I am a whole year and 11 months your senior".
"and I might add your looking mighty fine you old gesser" I spoke jokingly giving her a light elbow in her right arm.
Which caused a outburst of laughter amongst us.
*Suddenly
I was startled out of my skin. When an arm was slung around my shoulder and a face appeared beside me.
"I want to be included in on the joke too" 🙁Logan replied with a downcasted expression.
"Oh it's nothing don't worry about it" I said shrugging his arm off. Then looking at the others. "Shall we head on to the the induction ceremony".
"Sure". "Why not" the others responded.
"Oh is that today? Why didn't you invite me along? I'm you're guardian you know. So what Sect are you wanting to join? Bethana?
I sighed while dumping my tray and following along with the others. Whom werre heading towards the outdoor concert hall. While Logan rambled on about different things, beside of me.
"Rather clingy isn't he" whispered Shania in my right ear. Since Logan was walking on my left.
I turned my head in her direction locking eyes with her. "Save me please" I whispered.
"Haha. I was wondering how long you would last"
I gave her some of my biggest puppy dog eyes.
"Oh please, don't make yourself look desperate. I'll help" She said pushing me ahead of her while she slide in behind me.
"Ya? So explain to me how you know Bethana?..." She asked Logan.
Glancing over my shoulder I could see the girls starting to hound Logan with a thousand questions.
😭 Sigh "My god send of friends".
