Gilgamesh drank in the horror and shock on Vaal and Katak's faces and then turned to sit on the throne again. "Vaal I have seen through you and your many shames, and I see you be an okay human being but unsuitable for a king. As the direct descendants of Enkil, I will allow you and the rest of your family to live in exile."
Gilgamesh, with a wave of his hands, made the guards that once protected them throw them out of the palace. Vaal didn't even struggle as his royal guard carried him out of the castle; his eyes only became livid when he saw the captain of the guard watching on from the palace gates. Vaal remembered the long history he and the captain of the guard had together in a way it made sense that he would follow the word of Gilgamesh over him. The Royal Guards captain Galvo was the most loyal follower of their city's patron god. His family even held a sculpture of him in their family treasury to be their most valuable item in their vault.
Vaal had been friends with Galvo since he was a child they had played together before he even understood the power and responsibility that he held as a royalty. Vaal felt indignant he had lived a life entitled to all the luxuries of life how could this all change in a second. Never had the fragility of life felt more pressing.
Vaal took his last remaining son in his arms and hugged him as he cried he turned to his wife and a knowing look passed between them. Vaal's only fault was loving his family. Vaal nodded to his Katak the resolve in his eyes, not something even Gilgamesh could bisect. Vaal's huff and bluster was gone for good.
Gilgamesh remained expressionless throughout the banishment of Enkil's line as if he had already forgotten Vaal and his family. Gilgamesh's voice sounded in Galvo's mind, who was still watching the former royal families retreating backs with some sadness.
'Galvo return to the throne room at once.'
Galvo rushed unimpeded to his patron gods' side. But before he could enter the throne room, he met the red eyes of the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his entire life her jets black hair moved as if caught in molasses. Galvo blinked, and she disappeared. Galvo shook his head and then decided to ignore this lapse in reality and arrived in the throne room.
Meanwhile, in the city, a teenager was running in the streets. He was a handsome boy who looked like he was between the ages of sixteen or seventeen. Like many others, he was orphaned during the last great war between the patroned cities. Or at least that is what the priests at the orphanage had said.
He was also someone with exotic features he had purple eyes with pale skin and long green hair. his lithe form pushed himself between two close walls before managing to land on the roof a private residence. His crept forward until he was overlooking a courtyard. As quietly as he could, he swung down and rolled into the middle of the yard.
He crept through the residence before finding the crux of his desires. He touches a Saphire encrusted box with a constellation pattern that shifted as it moved.
The boy quickly hid the box inside a small bag he always carried and ran outside, pushing off a pilar to once again land on the building's rooftop. Gliding gracefully from rooftop to roof, he found a familar nook in the slum district of the eternal city. This district became a new addition not long after the Eternal empire recognized Mashu city as its capital. The slums were not made up of the same sturdy buildings of the rest of the town but were instead composed of flimsy wooden structures that lacked the sense of awe the rest of the city evoked.
The boy looked at the ground level nook that he called home. It wasn't much just a collection of wood and rags but not much in the way of stability. He quickly tried and failed to make himself comfortable on his thin sleeping bag and took out the Saphire box he had stolen. He admired it quietly until he managed to fall asleep, still gripping it.
