Capítulo 66: The Commanders
As Andros took the skakies on a path toward Origin, The commanders left behind by Vex on Origin were taking prominent roles. In the Hundred years since Mavine and Gilgamesh and disappeared, the Parthian commanders had taken over Earth ruling over it as gods.
Lieutenant Scocabes, in the absence of Mavine, was the most powerful Parthian and so had taken up the position of the sky and the moon god. Scocabes worshipers called him king of the gods. Feighn who had been sent to research the ocean had become the god of oceans. Natives prayed to him every time they set sea and could only hope his beautiful mermaid wife would be the one to save them. The other commanders had taken up different godly roles.
Mavine was revered as an earth goddess and was prayed to for fertility even if she rarely made an appearance. Avalat, the commander who was investigating the surface world, became the god of civilization to the Natives. Temples for him were erected everywhere cities were aside from a city around the mountain Mashu that worshiped a god hero named Gilgamesh.
Avalat kept to himself, staying in his pocket dimension observing the world from his viewer sitting on a golden throne and clad in a spider silk white robe. The Parthians had remarkably decided to stay on earth despite its unremarkable inhabitant. Avalat mumbling to himself said, "The charms of this world have made these foolish commanders take up permanent residence. Do they not realize that this is not our property it's only a matter of time before the Falcon family shows up to horde this tiny planet for themselves.
Avalat sat in quiet contemplation until he got a telepathic communication. Each mind had a unique imprint, and Avalat could tell automatically that the signal had come from Mavine. Opening his pocket dimension for her, Mavine entered his crystalline world without hesitation.
Avalat looked at Mavine with suspicion. Last he saw her; she was pretending to disappear because of Vex's fall. "why have you come to my realm Mavine."
Mavine kept a smile on her face despite the lackluster greeting, "It's nice to meet you to Avalat."
Avalat finding his manners, returned her greeting before dispensing with the pleasantries.
"Seriously, why have you come to Mavine."
Mavine started smiled again, "I was wondering if you wanted a new commander, Avalat."
Avalat laughed and asked, "who you Mavine. You have no way to make me follow you, so why don't you leave."
"No, not me, Avalat. It is someone that Vex chose himself someone that has the potential to become even more powerful than Vex. I know the reason you joined Vex's Corps, and it wasn't for the exploration of a new cluster of Galaxies."
Avalat looked at Mavine with surprise and slumped in his golden throne, "While that is true, Mavine, I will have to see if this commander is worth following myself."
I can't be careless at this juncture, Avalat thought to himself.
Mavine smiled at her old comrade, taking the bait. The reason Mavine needed Avalat's helped to advance Gilgamesh in the next step of his training. Gilgamesh needed to explore the Galaxy he lived in so that he could understand the state of things in intergalactic civilizations. Avalat would be a good mentor and bodyguard while he went traveling now. All Gilgamesh needed to do was show Avalat his prowess.
Mavine, still smiling, asked a question she honestly did not care about for the sake of her student, "How has the Dragon threat been?"
Avalat gave Mavine a weird look. Avalat was also answering disinterested in the human's dragon problem, "Most Dragons were sent into the scaffold dimension that we completed before Vex killed himself. They were killing too many humans for us to ignore them."
Mavine flinched at the mention of Vex, which Avalat caught but didn't comment on. Avalat impatient said, "well what are we waiting for, let's go and see this new commander."
Avalat sent himself and Mavine out of his pocket dimension, and Mavine opened hers to them both.
