- At the capital of Rosenstein Empire -
Roughly three days from the time when Dianne, Leonard, and Linda left Evelyn's dungeon, they finally reach their destination. Their request this time was from the guild itself; details in it include scouting the area and confirming whether or not the mana flow convergence is related to the forming of any dungeons. A carriage ride there would usually take two to three days and a round trip would end up resulting close to a week in time. A wall made of water-cut stone surrounds the outer perimeter of the main portions of the city. The more agricultural portions of the city lie just outside of the city walls. The golden wheat fields bend and waves with each breath of wind that passes by. Towering gates, four in all, located in the four cardinal directions upon the wall. Coming back from the east, and entering through the east gate, the three finally returns back from their request.
"Ah! Finally, we're back home!" Leonard said, throwing his arms skyward. "It's been sort of a week for us."
"No kiddin'," Linda spiritlessly replies back.
Among the carriages that they took back, they were all assaulted by roaming packs of monsters. Their journey back was delayed quite a bit from the weird frequency of monster attacks and pillaging attempts. Goblins and wolves were the more common ones, but a few orcs were also part of it as well. Frequent night attacks left them haggard from the lack of sleep over the past few days.
"Let's head over to the guild and be done with it."
"Sure, let's."
"Whatever, let's get it over with."
After hearing their responses, Linda sluggishly carries her body one step at a time while the other two wordlessly follow behind her. They made their way towards the central area of the capital. While there were not any deliberations to the separation of the city, because of social hierarchy, the central area of the capital is where most nobles and influential merchants laid claim their homes to. The closer you make your way to the center of the capital city, the houses and people become more upscale. Finally, in the center, lies the giant castle that houses the royal family of the said Rosenstein Empire. For the many millenniums that the empire has stood around for, it has been propagated that the royal family possesses a special lineage; they claim to carry the blood of gods in them. Though nowadays those talks and claims have died down and not as widely spread or believed anymore, you could still hear about from foreign dignitaries or travelers asking about these claims' legitimacy. Of course, the trio also made this inquiry the moment they stepped foot into the capital city as well, curious as to what the legend really was about. For the locals, the opinions were split.
The Adventurers' Guild is packed with energy; from the staff to the adventurers inside the headquarters. The trio marches their way in, zigzagging through the many people. They arrive at a specially designated counter exclusively for requests that the guild itself gives out. Most of the time, the guild acts as an intermediary for those that give out requests and those that accept those requests. There are rare occasions in which the guild specifically asks for help which results in requests like what the three had received.
"Bellamy! We're here to report back on that quest you gave us!"
Linda shouts over to the middle-aged man manning the counter. Already sprouting out grey-like tendrils of hair tied back into a ponytail, Bellamy takes notice of Linda through his wizened eyes. Wearing big round glasses and wearing more casual business attire, Bellamy scrutinizes Linda and the two behind her.
"It's been about a week since you left," Bellamy coarsely speaks. "Though it is still within the time frame between travel and investigation, I expected more from you three."
"Come on Bellamy, give us a break."
Linda could only give a weak chuckle. Bellamy is sort of a mentor for the three of them, so there is not much to complain or say against him. After all, when Bellamy gets upset he could get really vicious with his words; that is the last thing they would want coming back after completing their requests.
"Alright, give it here." Bellamy points to the counter. "Afterwards, we will hear of your personal accounts later after reviewing through your reports."
Rummaging through her baggage, Dianne then takes the fairly thick stack of paper and places it onto the counter in front of Bellamy. Their tense body and mind instantly relax, fatigue hitting them like a sack of sand.
"Alright, Bellamy you know where we're staying at." Linda turns around and waves. "Send someone over when you need us."
Seeing the three walk back to the entrance with slouching shoulders, a weak sigh escapes from Bellamy. Taking the report lying on the countertop, he takes them and walks over to the doors located behind all those that were manning the different counters inside the guild. Opening and walking through those doors, he approaches one of the female staff and hands off the report in his hands to her.
"Victoria, hand this report over to the guild master."
"Sure thing Sir Bellamy."
Victoria, wearing a blue guild's worker uniform, she gives Bellamy a warm smile. Her long brown hair, tied into a graceful ponytail, sways behind her as she slightly bows towards Bellamy. Her amiable brown eyes form a slight crescent shape from the way she smiles. Out of all the female receptionist and staff in the guild, Victoria is one of the most well-liked and respected. Her looks and friendly nature won the hearts of many adventurers that walked through those doors. Taking the report handed off to her, she takes the stairs leading up to the guild master's residence inside the guild hall. With nothing more to say, Bellamy takes a sharp turn back around and heads towards his counter once more.
