Capítulo 63: Please Tell Me I'm Sleeping

I stand by Chip as I watch the storm outside. "How could they take everything out so quickly?" I ask Chip in a soft voice. He doesn't answer though... "If this was really just mass chaos... they wouldn't have taken everything down so quickly. It seems like this is more organized than I originally thought..."

Chip tilts his little head as he continues staring off into the dark room and says "What you say does make sense. If this was truly chaotic then it would have taken a lot longer for things to go down. It seems like someone is calling the shots behind the scenes." It was probably the hacker... Thunder rolls again as the storm continues outside.

Suddenly I feel the pressure change in the room and when I look over I find Nero and two of Alec's men. "Are you okay?" Nero asks quickly stepping over. I nod my head and wave him off as I look at one of the men holding his arm. "What happened?" I ask walking over.

The man looks at me with wide eyes but seems completely frozen. I step closer and wave a hand in front of his face but he still doesn't move. I look to the other guy and asks "What's wrong with him?" The guy looked at his friend and barked out in laughter.

My eyebrows raise in confusion but the guy laughing suddenly stops and says "This guy here is named Trigger and he is a huge fan of yours." I look back to Trigger and when I see that he's still breathing I decide to step back. Strange guy...

I look back to the other guy still giggling "And you are?" He suddenly clears his voice and says "I'm Logan, one of Alec's men." I nod my head and walk to the kitchen to fetch a first aid kit. "I've seen you with Alec before I just didn't know your name," I say grabbing the kit.

I bring the kit over to Logan and as I pass it to him I say "It would probably better if you did it. I seem to make him nervous..." Logan begins laughing again as he says "Sure, sure." I look back to Nero to see him watching the cameras so I walk up next to him.

"I haven't seen anything yet..." I say and Nero nods but doesn't say anything. The pressure dips again as Alec appears with two more of his men. "Maya, are you okay?" Alec says as he quickly walks over placing himself between Nero and I. I slightly frown but otherwise ignore his strange behavior.

"I'm fine but it looks like Trigger's hurt," I say pointing to Trigger and Logan. Alec looks over for a second before turning back to me saying "He's fine it's just a scratch. Has anything happened while I was gone?"

I shake my head and watch his men collapse on the ground together in fatigue. I feel my frown grow as I watch them and find myself not understanding. "Why are your men not affected?" I ask in confusion. Alec's men all begin lifting their arms and I suddenly see similar markings.

"I placed seals on them... It's not like they can't be infected by the curse or anything it'll just take longer. With this, they have a better chance of controlling the beast... that's all we could do for them. We aren't even sure it'll help and Nero and I are limited in the number of people we can do this for..."

Nero pats Alec's back and says "We can't save everyone, Alec... you know this." Alec just nods his head. I'm guessing he lost his other men... "I need you two to explain to me what's happening right now. Based on what Chip and I saw, this isn't pure chaos... this seems to be organized chaos."

Alec and Nero exchange looks before Alec says "We came close to finding this bastard several times but every time we got too close he'd take off again. He's smart..." I nod my head before saying "I figured as much but that's not what I'm asking. I want to know why this only seems to be affecting some people."
