Aza wandered the halls, looking for his class. The halls were numbered so he didnt have too much trouble finding it. Walking inside, he found a desk and took a seat. After a couple minutes a few more students filed in and the Teacher took his place at the front of the class.
RIIIIING!
"Alright class, I hope you all enjoyed your summer. My name is Mr. Fuller, I'll be your Home Room Teacher this year. lets take attendance."
Aza gazed out of the window next to him as the teacher took roll call, wondering if his mother was doing okay. She was new today as well.
"Aza Silver?" Mr. Fuller asked, seeking an answer.
"Here" said Aza.
Everyone seemed to glance at him from over their shoulders. Aza could feel his cheeks turning red from the sudden attention. However, soonafter Mr. Fuller called another name and their attention turned to that student.
Aza relaxed, realizing they were just trying to put names with a face.
" I thought everyone knew everyone in small towns like this?" He pondered out loud.
"Well, this school is brand new." Aza heard a bright voice beside him.
Looking to see who had spoken, he was greeted with the view of a beautiful young lady. She wore a pair of Levi's, a floral blouse, and a stylish pair of flats. Aza was speechless.
"My name is Lillie" she giggled, seeing his reaction.
" Erm, My name is Aza. I just moved here from Houston." He said blushing She was very cute, and how she looked at him seemed effortless. She was definitely popular around here.
"Haha, well Mr Big City. What brings you to this little town?" asked Lillie.
"I honestly have no clue. My mom and I hove around every so often." he answered.
lillie seemed to have this aura about her. Aza felt very comfortable talking about the recent move.
"Ehem!"
Everyone looked to the front of the class.
"Alright everyone lets get started. Today were just going to focus on getting to know each others names. everyone stand up and come to the front." Mr. fuller said.
Over the next hour, the class got to know eachother by exercising introduction games.
RIIING!
"Alright class everyone have a great first day at school!" exclaimed Mr. Fuller as he dismissed the class.
Aza headed towards the hall to get to his next class but was halted my that same bright voice. "Aza wait for me!"
He came to an abrupt stop turning to see who had called his name.
"Whats up Lillie?" asked the puzzled Aza. he wondered what such a beautiful young lady would want with him.
"Whats your schedule look like?" lillie asked him with a smile.
Pulling out his schedule Aza read aloud, " History, then Chemistry, followed by Economics, Calculus, English and Soccer."
"Quite the busy guy I see?" she giggled. pulling out her schedule. "It looks like we have some classes together!" her eyes lit up.
"Oh thats pretty cool," he shrugged. He was nervous with such a pretty girl talking to him like this. Almost like it was natural. Trying to not appear too weird, he decided to head to his next class. " I'll see you then," he waved as he walked down the hall.
Throughout the rest of the day Aza repeated what had happened in his Home Room. The teacher would take roll call then they would do the exercise to learn everyones name. As it turned out Aza had four classes with Lillie, excluding Chemistry, English, and Soccer.
Arriving at his Seventh and final class for the day, Aza felt excited. Soccer was his favorite sport by Far! As he walked into the changing room the Coach was wrapping up roll call.
"Everyone get changed! Well have a light tryout today and assign lockers tomorrow. When you finish getting ready, head down the field!"
"Well this sounds fun" Aza thought to himself.
After they finished changing into their shorts and cleats, all of the young boys filed out neatly on the way to the field where the coach waited.
CHIIIIRP!
"Alright Boys! Listen up. stand in a line and I'll pass out Penny's."
Holding a bag of practice jerseys called "Penny's
the coach handed out one to every other person.
"Alright everyone on the field. lets see what youve got!"
Since there were enough for two teams with a few extra people, the coach had them sitting on the bench next to him.
Making sure that the laces on his cleats were tight and secure, Aza lined up on the field in the Strikers position.
" Alright Boys! Lets see who will be Men!"
CHIIIRP!
The opposite teams strikers kicked the ball into play, starting the game.
"Well, here we go," thought Aza.
"You can do it Aza!" he heard from the stands.
looking up he saw the beautiful Lillie in the stands leaning against the hand rail smiling that stunning smile.
"No Pressure, Right?"
CHIIIRP!
With the opposite teams forward setting the ball in play Aza rushed forward, pursuing the ball. Seeing Aza's rush forward, the other teams forward kicked the ball backwards towards his teams sweeper. With this the battlefield came alive.
Teammates passed the ball to eachother attempting to gain ground into enemy territory. Aza watched, reserving his energy. As a Striker his main job was to look for opportunities to receive a pass to score, and steal the ball when it came into his zone if possible.
"HERE! CROSS IT!" yelled the opposing teams forward.
One of his teammates kicked the ball sending it flying across the field. As the ball soared, the forward made a mad dash to intersect it. Winding back his leg, the forward kicked heavily while timing the contact.
BOOM! SWISH!
"Gabriel Theotokos nice goal!" yelled Mr. Fuller, making a few scribbles on his notebook. "Line it back up!"
Everyone got back in position.
Placing the ball at his feet Aza looked out at the field. looking for gaps in the other teams defense. As he surveyed the other team he met eyes with Gabriel.
"Bring it" he smirked.
Smiling, Aza replied. " Then don't blame me."
Kicking the ball at his teams forward Aza ran ahead in a diagonal slant. coming to the sidelines he came to a stop. Watching his team pass the ball around, the enemy teams defensive line crept forwards. Aza waited, looking for an opportunity.
Seeing Aza in a good position the wing dashed towards the enemy goal. Aza sped off like a rocket.
"HERE!" he cried. "PASS IT!"
The wing chipped the ball. Floating above the field, the ball glided towards an area with no defenders. Aza saw a perfect shot and quickly approached the spot.
It was an off pass. Unwilling to let this opportunity go, Aza ran and jumped in a strange angle. Twisting, Aza's leg came up in a roundhouse kick. Using his heel to hit the ball dead in the center, the call caved in around his foot and bounced towards the goal at an insane speed.
The goalie saw this and leapt into the air, attempting to stop this flying meteor. Reaching out he realized that it wasnt going to be enough.
SWISH!
"Aza Silver Amazing Goal! Aza, Gabriel come to the sidelines!" yelled Mr. Fuller.
Aza jogged off the field, followed by Gabriel.
"Great job Men take a rest." Mr. Farrell beamed.
As the two took their place an the bench Gabriel clapped Aza on his back. "What a shot man! That was mystical. whered you learn to play?"
"I grew up in the Houston area. Soccer is really popular among the locals, so I started playing when I was little. Your goal was amazing as well, you must have trained hard." Said Aza
Smiling, Gabriel rubbed the back of his head, "Nah, I pretty much just play all sports that the Coaches will let me play. Aza, right? I heard you just moved in."
"Yeah, my mom and I just moved here for her job. She took a job in Town hall as an assistant to the mayor." said Aza.
"Well since you're new in town you must not have many friends yet. Why not be friends with me? All the girls will chase after us when we make it on varsity!" He coo'd.
Aza blushed at the thought for a moment. Quickly putting the thought out of his mind, he laughed. "Well I guess we're friends. I'll be in your hands then."
The two laughed and shook hands as a figure zipped up to the duo.
"Aza! What was that? That was insane! Are you a pro?"
blushing Aza put out his hands, helpless. "No Its nothing like that I just play a lot."
"How often is a lot?" pressed Lillie.
Thinking Aza answered, "At school, during practice, then before he went home at the neighborhood park. Then I'd dribble the ball while jogging home."
The two looked at Aza in astonishment. "Are you insane? how much do you eat? How can you even walk?"
Aza retreated from the barrage of questions. "Eh growing up I was always outside playing games with the neighborhood kids. Actually, it was so common that my punishment was to stay inside of the house if I misbehaved."
"Whoah" they said in unision.
"Really, it's not as crazy as it sounds" he said.
"Well, I think it's amazing. you're so focused on what you want!" Lillie said grabbing his arm.
Mr. Fuller noticed Lillie sitting on the bench and walked over. "Well Mrs. Lillie. It's nice to see you again. Are you participating in the sports medicine program this year?"
"Yes sir!" she beamed with a smile.
She was stunning. Aza couldnt help but blush. "Why is a girl like this paying him any attention?" he thought to himself.
"Well head back to the trainers office. Im sure Mrs. Zhang needs your assistance." he stated. Chuckling, he walked back to where he was and continued surveying the scrimmage.
"Alright I'll see you two after school. Would you want to grab something to eat?" lillie asked.
"Yes!" Exclaimed Gabriel suddenly. "We'll meet you by the car."
"Alright then!" she smiled and jogged away.
"Don't try to worm your way out of it. Haha do you need a ride?" asked Gabriel excitedly.
"I drive myself," he answered.
"Okay just follow us to Mazzios then."
"Is she your Girlfriend?" Aza couldn't help but ask. He could see the two had a good relationship.
"Of course not!" Gabriel laughed, "She's my Sister after all."
Aza could feel his ears turn red. He couldn't see any similarities between the two.
"Why? Are you interested in her?" Gabriel questioned him with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"I'm not sure if im being honest, I've just met her today. " Aza said truthfully, turning his attention back to the field.
Gabriel saw this and thought to himself that he'd have to see what Aza was really made of. His mind became consumed with ways to test his character, like any good brother would.
