Capítulo 13: Drama queen
Appearing in the arena Mike takes in the sounds and well sights would sound better but since Mike can't see let's just call them the other sensations which are all around him
The cheering of the crowd is so loud it is shaking the earth, the different smells collide with each other like two tsunamis especially the smell of sweat and snacks which Mike doesn't like at all if Mike could see he would see the various colors which are the clothes of the audience
The excitement is at an all-time peak, it is so high that it's almost palpable while the crowd watches on as the young heroes compete with one another
Being the first student who entered Mike, of course, received various degrees of applause and everybody was excited over his domineering performance
Mike noticed the crowds attention at him but he also noticed that its probably going to take quite some time before the other contestants arrive so Mike decided to rest up a little, or rather Mike decided to relax while waiting for everyone to arrive
Under the watchful gaze of the crowd, Mike goes to a wall of the arena, leans his back on the wall before slowly sliding down and putting his legs into a crossed manner and drifting off to the land of the dreams
The crowd was at first excited to see what will Mike do after all he is the person who came first in and he came in with such a domineering manner in the preliminaries and once they saw him moving around they grew excited to see his actions
Yet the fire of curiosity within their eyes was soon splashed and put out by a bucket of cold water once they saw that he wasn't doing anything spectacular, just sitting there and the truth is not far from it it's just that Mike was sleeping as well but if the audience knew that they would, as the Chinese would say it, cough up blood but as Mike has a bandage over his upper face no one knew that he is actually sleeping
A few minutes later a defeating explosion was heard from the entrance into the arena which sent purple dust tens of meters into the air and was followed by a series of smaller explosions which trailed behind it like a mother duck and its ducklings
While the audience was watching the live camera feed on the big monitor and listening to Present Mic's everpresent commentary, being constantly on their toes and asking themselves who the second one to arrive will be, while eating their snacks which they either smuggled in or bought at the entrance the students are pushing their bodies and minds to the limits, using every last bit of their energy to compete with each other like horses in a horse race Mike was still sleeping, all the audiences excitement, the explosions, the uus and aahs of the crowd and the students effort didn't matter to him neither was in related to him in any way, shape or form
Soon Izuku came thru the entrance, sweating, huffing and puffing with bruises all over, with few scrapes and he is bent over on his knees trying to catch his breath but he did it, although he couldn't grab first place second place is in his hands
But soon afterward he recovered just in time for other people to start coming in, the first one to enter after Izuku are Todoroki and Bakugo but their performance was less stunning that Mikes and Izukus especially Bakugos who performed the same as in the anime but he came in fourth so although people noticed them it is not nearly to the degree they noticed the so-called stars of the show: Izuku and Mike
Todoroki is quite pissed at getting third place and even more so that the people in front are the two students he recently declared war on yet he lost miserably besides that he is also a bit embarrassed for the same reason but not too much
But compared to Bakugos anger Todoroki's anger and embarrassment seems like a child, not only did he not manage to get into the top 3 the people in front of him are his 3 most hated acquaintances, Deku a useless twerp who should forever remain under him, Todoroki the half half bastard whose mere existence pisses him of and Mike the nices guy in class
"Hey, Mike!" Looking around himself Izuku found the person who overtook everyone and made them all eat his dust making a stellar performance in front of the heroes
Izuku isn't really mad that Mike overtook him if anything it left him in awe of Mike's powers and capabilities so as a good friend he wanted to congratulate Mike for his stunning performance
But once Izuku arrived near Mike he noticed that he wasn't moving or responding to any of his callings and greetings
Immediately all the color drained from Izuku's face as his mind spun at a lightning fast speed, and Izuku being Izuku he assumed the worst, that Mike came to the event while pushing himself even thou he hasn't recovered from his injuries
Even thou it doesn't make sense since the teachers and everyone else who is a doctor inspected Mike and declared that Mike is perfectly fine and without any long-lasting injuries as the head will heal in a couple of years Izuku is just so damn good at overthinking things in the heat of the moment
"Hey, Mike! Mike wake up! Doctor, I need a doctor!" Immediately rushing towards Mike Izuku grabs his shoulders and begins to shake Mike trying to wake him up while screaming for a doctor to come and help his friend
Immediately everyone's attention was on Izuku and Mike, the students with the most stunning performance in the preliminaries so while the students formed a small circle around them some heroes heard Izuku's call and came rushing towards them
Just as the heroes arrived and wanted to ask Izuku some questions like why he even called them here they heard a groggy voice full of confusion from beneath them
"Can someone tell me why I'm encircled by a bunch of strangers?" They all looked down and saw Mike 'staring' at them or what they perceived to be staring as they can't really see Mike's eyes over the bandages
"Mike you are fine!" Seeing that Mike is talking and 'staring' dumbly at them while being in a seemingly good shape Izuku went in for a friendly hug only to receive a brutal rejection via a palm to the face from Mike
"No homo." Mike seeing Izuku approach him wanting to hug him immediately went into self-defense mode, Mike saw what type of effect Izuku has on males Todoroki and Bakugo are the greatest examples of the Gay rays that Izuku gives out, seriously tho there are more fanfictions of IzukuxTodoroki or IzukuxBakugo than any other characters in MHA and Mike sure as hell doesn't want to walk down that path
Immediately some laughter ensues as the heroes, students and the audience laugh at Izukus embarrassed face and Mikes nonchalant attitude before everybody calms down and they ask what happened to Mike and why did Izuku scream out in panic like that
Once that heard Isuzu's theory they were a little weirded out but then they explained that Mike is totally fine but they still did a little check on Mike's body again for which he was taken to a separate room and strangely enough inspected by some doctors and Midnight of all people before being returned to the stage and everyone receiving the information that Mike is totally fine
But once they questioned Mike and found out that Mike was just sleeping everybody was speechless and most of them wondered how deep Mike's sleep is to the point where he overslept everything even the explosions prompting some to theorized that it's his other quirk

'The author is such a drama queen.' Mike thought before strangely enough his thought process was wiped like he never thought that thought
Soon everything calmed down and the joyous mood of the festival returned as it was time for the next challenge
"The 42 of you that managed to arrive first, congratulations on passing as for the rest, don't be disheartened there is always next year. Now I know what the next selection will be but I'm still excited to present it to you! It's a human cavalry battle!" With a normal voice, Midnight dismissed all the people who didn't pass which made the loser mood go even further down into the dumps but with a shout full of gusto she introduced the next challenge for those that have passed lifting the losers mood up as soon they will witness the suffering of others primarily of those better than them
Immediately clamor ensued along with every student chatting and talking to one another, while the audience was no different the previous excitement from the preliminaries was once again re-lit and even reached a new high point
Every person's opinion on the challenge is different especially the students as this concerns their future so the people with quirks that go hand in hand with other people felt blessed while the ones with less cooperative quirks felt on the opposite end of the spectrum, they felt despair
"The cavalry battle is the standard human cavalry battle. You form a team from 2 to 4 members and you have to protect the headband from different teams. But the headband's points will be determined by your performance in the last round!" With that shout, everybody got excited and some students made theories about the competition, the headbands and other participants in the challenge and more often than not were they right as quite some of the students in UA are smart which pissed Midnight Lady off so she lashed out at them all cracking her whip on the stage in the process
"You are indeed right the total point count on the headband is the accumulation of all the points from the people in the team. The accumulated points are easy to calculate as the 42. a person has 5 points, the 41. has 10 and so on. With that said there is one exception, the first student who has 10 million points." With a bright smile, Midnight introduced the rules to the students but her smile seemed more sadistic than joyful especially when she mentioned the first student but it did get the blood flowing as now almost all the students are looking at Mike as if he is a juicy piece of meat from a fat lamb
But there are those few students who know that Mike isn't a juicy piece of meat from a domesticated and fluffy animal like the sheep no instead Mike is a sinewy piece of meat who comes from a wild animal and probably a predator like a wolf making him extremely hard to chew and swallow
"Here in UA, everything is as fair as possible, so anyone has a chance at going to the top even if you are at the bottom! The battle will last 15 minutes and you have an additional 15 minutes to form your teams! In this game even if the chariot is broken up or you get your headband stolen you are still in the game! The headband can only be equipped in an area above your neck and quirks are allowed but let's remember that this is just a human cavalry battle so you may not intentionally break up someone's cavalry! With that being said you may begin the selections of your teammates!" Standing at the center of the stage Midnight began explaining more of the rules about the cavalry battle all the while having many sadistic thoughts as she can't wait to watch the students tearing each other apart and outsmarting each other later in the festival
After explaining everybody's blood was pumping fast and soon 3 distinct circles have been formed around 3 students
One around Bakugo as even thou he's performance wasn't the most brilliant his power is amazing, one around Todoroki who is in the same boat as Bakugo and one around Mike as even thou Mike will be hunted by all because of the million point headband that he will wear his strength provides with enough protection and the chance to win, each person of each circle tried to be teammates to either one of these 3 figures
As for why there is no circle around Izuku well he beat the preliminaries with his smarts and didn't show off his quirk so not many people are interested in him
As for the people in the circles, they all failed, Bakugo doesn't even know the quirks and names of the people in class while Mike already has the ideal team he just has to get the teammates and Todorki is the same as Mike with everything already figured out
Mike got up and went into the crowd where everyone made way for him, they were all in suspense at who he will pick as his teammates hoping it would be them but they all got disappointed when he just walked past them
Searching around for a little while Mike found a familiar aura and as Mike got closer and closer to the aura the more familiar it felt and by the nature of the aura he knows who this person is
"Hey, Momo do you want to team up?" Honestly, the reason Mike wants Momo on his team is that she is someone Mike wants to get closer to the fact that she is strong and smart right now is just a big bonus so of course, Mike would invite her
"Hello Mike, yes I would gladly team up with you in the cavalry battle." When Mike approached Momo she got happy as it meant that she would have a strong teammate, after all, why else would he approach her in this situation so of course she was happy to agree to be his hoarse(Author: Do you see the little sexual innuendo, she wants to be his hoarse *cough* BDSM *cough*)
Mike is a strong person with great looks and smarts while he also has a good character, and although she didn't like his speech about becoming number one with his abilities she has to admit that he indeed has a very high chance of winning the festival so teaming up with him is the best strategical decision
"Well thank you for agreeing to participate, besides you, there is one more person we will invite." Although he barely heard her Mike was able to discern that she did indeed agree to join up with him so he got into a good mood
So with one target acquired Mike moves on to his next target or so he thinks but Momo's question which followed soon afterward stopped him dead in his tracks
"Wait you said one more, but you can have a team of 4 why would you then pick only 1 more?" To Momo it's confusing why would someone limit himself and his team to only 3 people when she knows that many would be glad to join Mike in this challenge
"Well, you see if I picked one more person it would disrupt our team play, although we can have 4 people we don't have to." Mike himself couldn't believe the bullshit he made up on the spot neither could he believe that Momo would agree since she is way too smart to believe such obvious lies
"I see." But at this moment her smarts got the better of her as she believed that Mike had this all planned out and that there will be 3 members which are very compatible so a fourth member would disrupt that compatibility which once again raised her opinion about Mike
'Bullet dodged.' Mike thought as he went to another familiar aura that is going to be their second teammate with s back drenched in sweat from that intense bullshiting
(Author: Hey there it's me the author. So I have come back, the updates will probably be slow at first since I have to once again write. Honestly, I got rid of the illness like 5 to 6 days ago but I decided to take some time off. I played games, watched anime and read novels so I basically enjoyed life. I even managed to achieve one of my life goals, I beat Dead Space 2 on hardcore mode. But now that is over and I have returned. Anyways you can probably expect another chapter this week and probably 4 to 5 chapter next week but that isn't guaranteed. Anyways I do have a question for you. Who is your most hated class 1 a character? I'm honestly curious. Well that's all so see you in the next chapter.)
