The three of them were all decently good at cooking. The room was quiet except for the sounds of whisking eggs, pans hitting counters, and tapping of feet walking around. Brian looked through Marcus's fridge and decided to make a simple omelet. Prue did the same and began to make muffins her mother taught her how to make. They were going to be chocolate chip with a side of milk. Brian worked hard on everything he did, so he tried to make the omelets as best as possible.
….
About half an hour later, they were all done. Prue's muffins were still in the oven, but Marcus and Brian were done. Prue set the table. Marcus and Brian served the dishes and they all sat down to eat. There was a bit of small talk and Marcus and Prue shot glances to each other too. Brian honestly felt like the third wheel, but it was ok. He enjoyed seeing them embarrassed like this, in a good way. Brian could tell that Prue was genuinely happy now, and that's all he wanted. The three of them were almost done eating when the oven dinged.
"Oh, I almost forgot! I'll get it." Preu said remembering her muffins.
She scooted out of her chair and walked to the oven. Marcus's eyes followed her and she did so. She slipped on an oven mitt and opened the oven. Marcus turned away to Brian. They began talking then suddenly there was a huge crash. Marcus and Brian swooped their heads over and looked at Prue. The pan of muffins was on the floor and the muffins were everywhere. When Preu took out the muffins, the pan burned her hand. The mitt must have been old or something. Marcus immediately got up and ran to her. She winced in pain as she touched the burn on her hand. Marcus grabbed her hand and brought it to his sink. Running the cold water, he gently rubbed the burn so it would go hurt less. Marcus didn't think twice about doing it. It almost felt like instinct. Prue and Brian were surprised. Marcus and Prue looked at each other. Both of the instantly blushed, he kept a hold of her hand though.
"Are you ok?" Brian asked concerned.
Marcus and Prue looked at him with their red faces.
"Yeah, I am now." She said looking down smiling.
Prue felt weird inside. She didn't know why, but when he held her hand like the, she felt surprisingly happy. Of course, she considered it is "love", but how could it be? They just met and they annoy the heck out of each other.
There is no way they could be….. or could they?
These thoughts ran through Marcus's and Prue's hand Marcus gently held her hand. Both of them blushed and Brina laughed. As his laughter spread through the room, Prue and Marcus blushed even more.
Finally, Marcus turned off the water and let go of her hand. She dried it off and looked to the floor. The muffins were ruined.
"Sorry about the muffins," Preu said in a sad voice.
Marcus grasped her shoulder and she looked at him. He gave her a reassuring smile, she blushed.
"Its ok." He said smiling.
