Capítulo 72: THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THEM
Xiao Jun was familiar with Mo Qin Yi true self, he once set his eyes on Qianru and from their encountered earlier, seemingly he still has his eyes on his wife. He knew that eyes and the way he cornered her.
In the other hand, for Qianru this was the first time Xiao Jun forbade her from interacting with someone. She was aware that this was for her own good, thus she didn't object. "Alright."
"And Qianru, don't come to the palace either." Xiao Jun added, he looked at her deeply. "If I am not around, stay in the inn."
"Is everything fine when you went to the palace? What the Emperor Mo Qian Yuan talked to you?" Qianru slightly felt worry, it was unusual for Xiao Jun to limit her freedom.
"It's better if you know less." Xiao Jun answered curtly and stood up.
The rain outside the inn had turned into a storm and the howling wind sounded like a wounded beast, the fog mystified their vision to see further, but Xiao Jun wanted to go outside.
"Jun, where are you going? It's storm outside." Qianru ran after him and pulled his arm before he could step out of the chamber.
"I have something to do."
"But, the rain…" Qianru determined to not let him go as she clutched his hand tightly.
"It is just rain, it will not do any harm for me." Xiao Jun smiled faintly and swiftly released her hand.
Looking at Xiao Jun who would walk away into the rain, Qianru called him ever so softly. "Jun, do you not trust me?"
Something inside her wanted to know, if she has shortened the distance between them or the distance has been extended to another level.
Xiao Jun stopped for a while before he turned around and faced Qianru, his expression remained calm as ever. He was faking the raging storm inside of him, he didn't want to show it even to Qianru. "I trust you Qianru, more than you know. After all, it is always you who will stay by my side."
"But?" Qianru asked skeptically.
"But I don't want to involve you in this. You have come so far by agreed with my unreasonable request and follow me here. I can't ask you more than this." Half of him regretted his decision to bring Qianru to the Rockstone Kingdom.
The matter about the courtyard wouldn't be the last things that Mo Qin Yi would do, he would create another trouble for Qianru and that was the last thing he wanted.
"You don't need to ask because I am willing to help."
Their journey to the Rockstone Kingdom was very peaceful and Xiao Jun also started to warm up with her until she felt finally everything would be better with their relationship, but he started to distance himself now.
"But, I am not willing to drag you in this muddy water."
"I am already there…" Qianru insisted.
Xiao Jun heaved a heavy sighed and said with finality. "Don't wait for me, I will return late."
With that being said, he disappeared into the misty rain, leaving Qianru in bitterness.
