In the inner region of a massive fort.
A meeting was currently being held as the four great family leaders of Infant Island were discussing the important topics of the Island. The representative of the fifth family had yet to arrive.
"Where the hell is miss Fae? Is she trying to avoid her responsibilities? The Kainnoll family is getting quite overboard" The third family leader said angrily as he looked at the empty chair in front of him. The third family leader was a heavily built man with muscles all over his body and he had a height of 5 meters.
"Ho, she's quite disrespectful towards the new chieftain." The second family leader added with his arms crossed and eyes closed. He didn't seem to put the absent miss Fae in his eyes. The second family leader was a middle-age man with a height of 2 meters and tattoos that covered half of his face. He looked quite ferocious, but he was a quick-witted fellow.
"Sigh... I'm too old for these kinds of meetings." The first family leader was an old man with wrinkles all over his face and a huge scar that ran through his empty left eye. He looked like a man that could barely move around.
'Is she trying to avoid the engagement with the young chieftain?' Is that why she hasn't shown up yet? Or am I just overthinking stuff again?' The fourth family leader thought silently as she took glances at the young chieftain. The fourth family leader was a young woman in her late twenties, her family had given her the responsibilities of taking care of their entire family. A huge burden rested on her shoulders.
The competition on Infant Island was extremely fierce, the families usually fought over the rights to govern the entire island by deathmatches, this was the only way to claim the throne on Infant Island. The current leader of Infant Island was from the first family.
"How're the sacrifices?" A young man could be seen sitting on a throne lazily with one hand on his chin. The young man was the current leader of Infant Island his name was Alex D. Dooley that's right! His uncle was Farrell D. Dooley! The Vice-chief of Infant Island.
"We've gathered 200 infants this year, for the sacrifices. Young chieftain!" The second family leader reported as he looked at the young man on the throne with admiration and respect.
"Any trouble gathering the infants?" Alex asked calmly while stretching his legs lazily.
"The higher-ups of the marines have been infuriated with our actions and they have threatened us with extermination, but the world government has covered for us again." The third family leader said with a wicked smile on his face.
"Hah, Extermination? Do they have the guts to do that? We have been doing this for generations as if they can stop us now." Alex smiled broadly as he grinned.
"They are just a bunch of hound dogs for the world government, but we can never take them too lightly." The fourth family leader added quickly as she looked at the grinning Alex with respect.
Bang!
The door to the meeting room was suddenly opened and three guards could be seen standing straight.
"What Audacity! What impudence! Can you see the family leaders of the five great families are having a meeting here?" The third family leader screamed angrily as he slapped the table with his flat hand.
The three guards were terrified, the only reason they opened the door was that a guard wanted to report some important news.
"I'm sorry about our imprudence! But we have some urgent news to report to the chieftain!" One of the guards said boldly as he took a step forward. He didn't know what made him so bold as to defy the third family leader's words.
Alex waved his hand to the third leader as he indicated that he should just sit down again. The third family leader didn't want to defy the orders of the young chieftain as he sat down while grumbling to himself silently.
"Go ahead, tell us the important news," Alex ordered the guard to continue with his speech. The guard took a deep breath as recounted the news about the pirates' arrival and the disappearance of miss Fae.
Siiiii
The fourth family leader took a deep breath as she heard the news. The entire table became quiet as only a pin drop could be heard.
"Did you just say that these pirates killed the vice-chief?" The second family leader was so shocked that his eyes almost popped out of his eye sockets.
Alex narrowed his eyes as he heard what the guard had to say. He had a good impression of his uncle's devil fruit powers. He could defeat his uncle but to kill him was another matter entirely.
The first family leader suddenly stood up as he moved slowly towards a bookcase. It looked as if the old man could fall anytime. The old man picked up a bunch of bounty posters as he kept scrolling through them.
"Sigh, I know who he is now...Is this the person leading those pirates?" The first family leader asked in an old voice. The bounty poster the old had in his hands was of a smiling middle-aged man with a black mustache.
"No sir, that's not him." The guard answered in a respectful tone as he heard the old man's question. The guard knew about this middle-aged man on the poster. It was the pirate king, Gold Roger! He was dead! Why was he asking if it was him? How could a dead man be causing trouble on the island? But of course, the guard didn't dare to say that at all!
The old man was surprised for a second before he scrolled through the bounty posters again in a hurried manner.
"Is this him?" The old man asked again in an old husky voice. This poster was of a notorious dead pirate too.
"No sir, that's not him neither." The guard answered respectfully again without any show of annoyance.
"Is this him?"
"No, sir...."
"Then is this him?"
"No, sir...."
"I'm getting too old for this." The old man said silently as he looked at the many posters in his hands again.
"What was I looking for again?" The old man scratched his head in confusion as threw the bounty posters in his hands away and walked out the door slowly. Everyone at the meeting room just stared at him with eyes wide open.
"Cough cough. He has some difficulties remembering and he probably is getting too old for this kind of stuff anyway." Alex coughed lightly as he tried to save some face for his family. Alex quickly scanned the meeting room with his eyes. As if he was saying to the people in the room with his eyes 'Laugh and you're dead!'
"..." The family leaders.
"..." The guards.
'Note to myself never invite him again!' Alex took a note mentally as he shook his head lightly.
