Capítulo 9: Chapter 8: Playing Devil

(Still In The Past)

When Ford readjusted to his surroundings he was still in the dark, still on the floor. He could hear a few kids screaming, but not a crowd. Around 7 or 8 voices just yelling out for someone, they sounded almost as old as him. They were looking for each other, repeating the name 'Lucy' and asking if she was somewhere around here. Soon they began calling for one another, until they seemed to lose each other every other second. From what Ford could see, Foxy's huge room was completely blacked out. Ford began to pick himself up, light beginning to shine through a hallway window, the only window not covered by metal. Frantically Ford tried the exit doors, no luck. Then he returned his gaze to the window. With all his force he jumped at it with his legs. He seemingly bounced off of it. THUD. He fell hard on the floor.

Lucy couldn't see. The other kids that were in here had suddenly disappeared. She could hear them, but she couldn't find them. It was like a cruel joke, except this one was on a new level of too far. "Hello?" She called out weakly. The room echoed all the same, it was much bigger then it seemed. "Where are you guys?" They were invisible to her, and though she heard her name called a few times, Lucy could not find anyone. Then, she realized something, and stopped moving from pure shock. After a few calls, they stopped, and Lucy was devastated. Throughout all of that, Connor, her best friend, had not called out for her at all. No worried sounds, nothing. Connor wasn't dead. All of the others would be calling out for him at this rate. No, Connor was moving on, knowing full well that Lucy was alive. Because he knew Lucy was a screamer. Lucy, realizing this, began to sulk. Connor was her only friend. She had never even met the other kids before. Why? Did she mess up? She went from sulking to crying, and crying to sobbing, louder and louder, nearly drowning out the fast approaching metal footsteps.

"AA-" Ford screamed, but someone else screamed louder. It was one of the other kids. The scream was piercing, filled with fear and shock. It was quick, but it made Ford quiet. He realized that something bad happened. When you hear a scream like that, something bad always happens.

Ford now felt unsafe, even more so than before. He had a need to talk to someone in this scary situation."Hello-" He began to call out. As he was letting out the next word, another scream was heard. A boy this time, but his shriek was quickly changing to groaning, as if his very lungs had begun to fail, which no one, let alone a child like Ford, should know the sound of. It was mixed with that tune again, and even though Ford knew full well the situation, for some reason he was still entranced by the music. Ford fell silent again, laying there, listening to the rhythm with a pleasant mind, until it suddenly stopped. All senses came back to him, he realized the scream had come from Chica's door right behind him, footsteps from behind now audible alongside banging from the sealed doors and windows, encased in metal. They were coming this way. Ford frantically began crawling for the corner behind the door. He made it behind just in time, as seconds the door slammed open, barely off from crushing Ford, hitting him in the head.

From what Ford remembered, he woke up in bed, and his brother insisted that from that day forward they had never gone to a Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Ford had trusted his brother, what he said, maybe it was all just a nightmare, but now Ford knew better. The point was, he had come close to death before, and now he was facing it all over again.

(In The Present)

As the fox starred at Ford with hungry eyes, Ford stared right back. For his life, quite literally, he couldn't remember what exactly he had seen the fox do, but he could remember that it was beyond bad. He began to pull away once again, only moments after stopping. Once again Spring stopped him from moving, even when the fox slowly began to advance. "Hold on, I've got this." He said, ignoring Ford's now vocal protests. He then whistled with his right hand, and seconds later, Ford could hear it. Something running even faster than the fox had from behind them. The fox lunged, but he was met with a new creature jumping over the three and slashing him across the face. The fox covered his right eye and roared at its attacker, and the pain. Then, it began shifting, changing, into something even those demented could never hope to dream of. There was no way this was a robot. It couldn't be. Ford saw blood, and he could hear bones cracking and shifting with the fox's ever changing body.

Then, It started to change back, morphing into the way he was before. Its face became scared, its ears drooped, and its tail went still. Slowly, Foxy's eye rolled out of socket, and onto the ground. The fox yipped and yowled as the pain suddenly seemed to return to him, green liquid pouring out onto the side of his face that now was missing an eye. He darted away on all fours, dazed and confused, smashing into walls and even breaking holes into them, but never going through any of them. The trail of green blood transitioned to a much more normal red, continuing to follow its source, as if trying to make its way back to where it belongs. And the eye was the worst of all for Ford, writhing, squirming, still alive, still moving as if it was alive, still in pain. Rested where it had landed, it stopped, staring at Ford. Slowly losing it's amazing fiery orange for a monochromatic halt of white.

Ford had barely processed what was happening when the one responsible for the ghastly eye began to turn around, and Spring began speaking. "Ford, I'd like you to meet our bodyguard." This is our Wolf." The 'Wolf' was the same size as Foxy, and though he had a similar snout, he was very much different. It's claws were massive, covered with purple stripes, it's tail a bit bloody, and it's entire body covered in black stripes, and it had a huge hole in it's back that didn't go all the way through its body. It seemingly had three arms from one socket on each side, totaling to six, all strangely metallic locking, fur all the same clinging onto it. But what caught Ford's attention was the wings. Two bat wings attached to the Wolf's head, both covering their respective eyes. Even still, he began to make his way towards Ford as if his own wings weren't even there, sniffing the air, but not enough for it to seem like a way to see. More like he was cautious about something.

Chip, being the smart frog he was proving to be, jumped into Ford's bag as soon as Screwloose had tackled him, but was now returning only to immediately go back upon seeing the Wolf. Thinking of Screwloose, the golden corpse of a bunny was no longer staring at Ford. Instead, he seemed fixed on where the monster fox had run off. "Too bad, I was hoping we could discipline that one…" He said, not even saying 'Hi' to the Wolf. Apparently a lack of formal greetings was a trend in their friend circle. A friend circle Ford was now a part of. Screwloose turned, completely facing the Wolf, but not even glancing at Ford, making him kind of at ease. He didn't have his attention anymore. "You know what I mean right?" He said breaking Ford's thoughts. The Wolf nodded, and ran off after the fox. Spring had been looking in the other direction, but one ear twitch and he was sprinting from behind calling out to him to come back. "Wait! No! Come back here!" He yelled. The Wolf did not stop, not hearing the word to come back. Spring turned back in failure. "Why did you send him after it? We needed him with us!" He shouted, angry and flustered. Screwloose shook his head.

"We'll live. We've got plenty of other protective measures. None of which can move as fast and efficiently as he does." He said in a not at all frightened tone. Spring was silent for a minute, but still looked angry. "We still could've kept him til we got those 'other measures.'" He retorted. Screwloose shrugged, still not phased. "Maybe so, but what fun would that be?" At this point, Ford had no idea what the two were talking about, and it was infuriating. "Hey!" He yelled breaking up their argument. "So sorry, but the fact you guys know what's going on and I don't is starting to annoy me, especially considering you're two zombies dressed as overgrown bunnies."

Only after those words left Ford's mouth did he feel instant regret. These guys may not be literal zombies, but they were much faster than Ford, and what's stopping them from calling Silver back to kill him? He was only a kid, and that guy clawed out Foxy's eye with one swipe, and seemed way more dangerous. Anyway Ford thought out the situation, there was always one thing he'd be at the end. Dead. Ford became braced for some sort of attack, or the sound of Spring whistling for the Wolf to return, but instead, he was met with laughter. Not from Spring either, but from Screwloose, who seemed to be living up to his name. Even Spring seemed to be taken aback by the sudden outburst, and even a little disturbed.

"So sorry myself…" Screwloose said between wheezes of laughter. "No one's talked to me that way for awhile." He made the motion of wiping his eyes, which Ford didn't understand what so ever. "Alright, you wanna know what we're talking about right? You like games kid?"

"Ford." The boy corrected, internally hating himself for speaking up. The child's confidence, his pure personality, in his mind, in this tension, had wandered. Now, it had completely left him. It was as if he was back to the days of that incident, when he was afraid to bother people, when he was afraid to even breathe too hard around some people. "Ford?" Screwloose replied. Ford's heart sunk. He wasn't laughing this time, but had a cryptic smile on his face once again. "Ya know that's what the smartest people are named..." Screwloose began coming over and knelt down in front of Ford.

"So here's a simple test to see if you continue the trend. Ever heard of the phrase 'Playing God?'" Ford nodded, still a bit scared Screwloose was going to lunge for his neck and kill him. Remembering what Spring did to that rabbit didn't help either. "Good, good… You wanna get outta here right?" He said menacingly. Ford nodded. Screwloose stood up, a little pep in his step.

"Well, in order to do that, we're gonna have to Play God, and before we can do that…" He began walking away, with Spring quick to follow. Trusting his gut in the moment, Ford did as well. Screwloose smiled grew. "We're gonna have to Play Devil first."
