Capítulo 26: Twilight Apple
"Before I accept, I need to know what was this about."
Theo nodded and started explain. Theo was eldest son of a marquis and he had a brother from a different mother. Because he had a disability that didn't allow him to become a warrior or a magus, he couldn't vie for the position of the next marquis. Because of that his brother became more sure that he was going to become the next family head and he became more tyrannical towards to the people who lived in their fief. He even raped a young girl and killed her and her family afterwards. Populace was already had enough from him but couldn't do anything about it. Theo was afraid that there would be riot so he came to the dungeon which said to have a drop of phoenix blood. The phoenix blood would give rebirth to one who consumes it and he was intent to use it to cure his inability and vie for the position of the next family head.
Leon didn't treat his explanation as truth but he also didn't throw aside as vilification. He didn't see his brother so he couldn't decide which one of them was right but he could tell that Theo wasn't a bad guy, he might hid his ambition but that wouldn't make him a villain.
Either way, if he were aid Theo for him to take the position of the next head, he would gain an marquis ally. Leon also get something about his brothers character from his sending men to kill his brother.
Even though Theo was crippled, he was a danger for him to become next marquis. That showed that Theo was capable man or his brother was paranoiac and wasn't shy to use any method to ensure that he was the next marquis. Presuming that his brother was the one who sent the men after Theo and his followers.
"The phoenix blood could be found after beating the seventh boss but we could only go to the fourth boss with our strength. So I can only trust you for to get it. I'll give you anything you wanted as long as you help us to get to the seventh boss."
Leon didn't know that this dungeon had phoenix blood. He also have some use for it, not that he was going to use it but for Rose. Rose needed a drop of phoenix blood to complete her cultivation method. He actually forgot about it, now he remembered and he also remembered that Ronald also needed blood of a dragon.
Theo was going to use the blood for his rebirth so he wouldn't consume too much of it. Leon thought he could get some share from it.
"I want a share from the blood and aside from that you can give me something after we cleared the seventh boss."
Leon said, he wanted to show his skills to make sure he get as much as possible from this deal. He didn't know what a marquis household would have in the system world but he was sure that they would have treasures which would difficult to obtain anywhere in the world.
Theo nodded and shook hands with Leon. After shaking hands with Theo, Leon went to near of the corpses and summon his book of knowledge and collected their memories to be sure that they were sent by Theo's brother.
After extracting memories from the corpses, Leon stood up and went to side of the chest to see what was inside. When he came to near the chest, Heinz already opened the chest for all to see. Leon saw the items inside but again there wasn't anything that he needed.
Leon learned that he could get twilight apple from the chest of the fifth boss. After hearing that there was a drop of phoenix blood in the seventh, he started get curious what there was after that. He learned the twilight apple from the knowledge that opened to the public on the adventurers network. It was reasonable to say that there were some hidden knowledge only to shared with money or resources. Theo might paid for the information of phoenix blood. Leon didn't know after the fifth boss but he wanted to see what was there.
After handling the men who came to kill Theo, the line-up of the team changed. Leon was second after Heinze and he was doing all the killing. He was doing so to show that he was capable of doing anything with his strength, he also showed that he could use magic.
When Leon choose to show his strength, the monsters wasn't really a test for the group and they could easily advance further. It didn't take too much of their time to reach to the fifth boss. Heinz was looking at the fifth boss and Leon also was looking. After killing it, Leon could finally have twilight apple.
The boss was a blood-tiger, they had their names from color of their fur and violent nature. They were big as a cow. Leon put his hand to Heinz shoulders and he walked to the boss with his spear on his hand.
The blood-tiger also noticed him and roared to show that it was powerful. Leon didn't encounter any monsters who was a danger to him as he was going deeper into the center of the city but he could tell the monster becoming more and more powerful because killing them took more and more time.
Leon wasn't a full-fledged adventurer thus he didn't know the vitals of the monster. Even with his strength he couldn't take them in an instance. While he was fighting with monsters his mastery on spear also increased. Leon wasn't content with what he knows about spear but he didn't have training manuals for spear on his hands so he could only use his superior strength to overwhelm the monsters. Leon was thinking to use this strategy on the fifth boss.
In the open area one monster and one man was looking each other, Leon was the one who made the first move. He disappeared from where he stood and appeared in front of the blood-tiger with spear was pointing at its head. The spear couldn't pierce the hide of blood-tiger. Even though he was the one using the spear, only with his power couldn't instantly kill it. His spear wasn't a magical spear but it could be found anywhere a cheap kind.
He just used his spear to try if could pierce so after that, Leon threw aside the spear and attacked the blood-tiger with his hands. The monster dodge Leon's first attack, it didn't know how strong was Leon but it felt pain when spear hit it. As soon as tiger dodged, Leon followed it and delivered his blow to its head. The tigers head exploded like a watermelon and it died.
After the boss died, others showed up and Heinz went over to the chest to open it. Leon was also with him. After waiting a bit the chest opened and Leon could see the twilight apple inside of the chest. Leon took it and put it in inventory, he was going to consume it when they were arrived a safe zone but from what heard from Theo, the safe zone was near so he wouldn't need to wait long to eat it.
As Theo said, the safe zone was near and after exiting the area of the fifth boss they were in the safe zone. It took too much time for them to come here so the team decided to pitch their tents and took a good sleep.
After pitching his tent, Leon entered it and took out the twilight apple. The twilight apple was a magical fruit and it was looking like a transparent apple filled with viscous gray liquid. Leon immediately ate it and he directed the energy inside of the apple according to his titan inheritance. The apple contained massive amount of yin and yang energy but his titan body was allowing him to directly consume its energy. If he were to a normal person he would explode from excess energy.
If someone got this fruit they would first used in alchemy to make the energy inside of it more mild then consume but Leon didn't need that. In alchemy someone could also arouse the energy and make it more violent. Leon was planning to learn this type.
After eating and fully digesting the energy from the apple, Leon planted the pits of the apple into his portable garden and slept.
