Capítulo 7: VI

Another day, another fantastically bland meal. You would think an adaptive body would adopt a sense of taste that would suit the diet, but apparently that is not the case or I simply have not gotten there yet.

Having already been changed, and once more without anything to clean I figure my body has somehow developed the ability to use everything from my meal without leaving any residual product behind. Whether that is a good or bad thing I have no idea.

As a ninja, I am fairly sure it will be a good thing or at least convenient, and in the world of Naruto it may very well be considered another weird bloodline side-effect. My biggest concern at this moment is whether I end up drawing too much attention to myself as it is I am already an odd one out, with me being the only mobile toddler in my group at the current time and I have already mastered signs and some words to the best of my ability, my waddling has become increasingly more stable and I have become somewhat efficient at balancing myself, as well as shown such at the obstacle course.

'Thinking about it… The only reason I have not been kidnapped and brought to a root facility is probably my minimal chakra pool. 'Frowning to myself I stared up into the ceiling.

'At this point, it will be weirder if I simply stopped coming to the playroom, and even then I will go mad doing nothing… I'll probably go bat-shit-insane if I attempt to meditate all day as well.' Tapping my stubby toddler fingers on the edge of my crib in deep thought before catching myself in the act, I sat up. Observing my surroundings, I found no caretakers seeing my none-toddler act.

'Not like I would be able to spot any, anyway but at least there is a chance they don't monitor the toddler rooms.' Shaking my head in slight irritation, I lowered myself to the floor. Not like there was anything, I could do at this point. Best I kept to strengthening myself with the war coming.

'Besides in some twisted way being caught by the root could be a blessing in disguise. They'd be able to push me to my limits and really make my body adapt for the coming war. The biggest problem I see in that is whether I'd be able to keep up with their mind breaking and at this point in time I'd be afraid of becoming Orochimaru's lab rat, with him working with Danzo on the Hashirama cells.' I thought to myself as I waddled my way towards the doorframe of my sleeping quarters.

Sighing to myself I continued that thought with a grimace '… and even that could be a blessing, those cells would increase my vitality immensely and increase my chances of survival. I just don't like my chances of survival before actually integrating with said cells if I end up in such a situation, and who knows what else Orochimaru could end up testing on my body while he's at it.' Having reached the doorframe, I looked both ways down the hallway, making sure I did not waddle into someone rushing down the hallway before making my way towards the playroom.

Stopping midway to the playroom, I suddenly came to realize that I had not actually explored the hallway in full. My exploration previously had after all come to an abrupt stop inside the playroom I had been spending my time in the last few days.

Looking further down the hallway, I spotted a couple more doorframes on each side of the hall.

Looking back, the other way I spotted a couple more doorframes. Each doorframe sat slightly asymmetrically to each other, unlike the second toddler room across my own sleeping quarters there were no doors that actually had a direct view of each other.

'Odd…' I thought as I made my way towards the right side of the hallway, coming to the first opening on the same side as the playroom I found a small room filled with toilet stalls and further in spotting something looking like open bathing stalls.

'I have to figure out where I can get a towel, it's been almost a week since I had a proper bath…' Shivering slightly in discomfort at the thought, I turned myself away from the doorframe, making my way towards the next one.

This doorframe on the opposite side wall from the playroom and being on the same side as my own sleeping quarters, I found a much larger open room filled with small beds on each side of the room. Even a few beds in the middle of the room evenly spaced out, on a quick count; I found it probably able to house about 52 small kids of 4-5-year-olds.

I was not an expert at guessing kid ages in my old life and still wasn't sure how much of a difference there was, so I could not be too sure, but I remembered 4 year old kids being slightly above knee height in my old life. The beds inside this room had plenty of room to spare in those sizes unless my ability at guessing heights had been skewed by my new point of view being so close to the floor.

'Guess this will be my next sleeping quarters when they decide I'm not fit for a crib anymore…' Not having spotted any kids that was much older than a couple of years; my guess was that this area of the hall was for the youngest of the kids. I still had not spotted any teenagers in the playroom, so they were probably moved to a different area or given apartments of their own in the village after joining the working force.

Coming to the last room on the opposite wall I found it filled with shelves stacked with towels, small sized shirts, pants and underwear as well as toiletries; Toilet paper, etc.

'Right.. I've completely forgotten Naruto is a semi-technological advanced world with working plumbing and electric lights. Wonder why they use torches here… Maybe the orphanage is poor?'

Shrugging I made way towards the end of the corridor where a doorframe sat as if to section this part of the hall to the next part of the corridor. Feeling myself getting picked up and turned in the opposite direction, I looked up to see one of the caretakers smiling at me, but otherwise shaking her head in a negative.

'Huh, no toddlers allowed that direction?' I could only wonder to myself as I trotted my way back towards the playroom, and since it was on the way, I decided the other half of the hallway could wait for later.

Turning towards the agility course, I spotted my rival already getting better at walking the pole. As he was still having obvious balance problems I quickly established my dominance by almost casually making my way across the pole before proceeding to scale halfway up the rope wall. Once more having trouble to keep balancing while having to pull myself upwards I hung there waiting for the right timing.

Swiftly finding my rival's inability to quickly make it across the pole to be my advantage; holding up the line, I found a lull in the net chaos. For the first time, I made my way all the way up the net wall, thus coming face to face with something I had dreaded since the first time I had observed other kids going through the course.

Midway down on the opposite side of the net-wall I found yet another elevated pole, this one only being kept up by rope on either side of it, and this keeping a good meter and a half above ground and very much able to move around, making this a much bigger challenge than the static pole before it.

Not only would it be hard to make it to the pole, I would have to make it about halfway down the net wall before jumping from the net to the moving pole, I would then have to keep my balance as other kids made their way onto said pole if I could not make it across before anyone catching up.

Failing here would not only tire me out but would also potentially cause damage and in best case simply hurt falling onto the wooden floor. To make matters worse, should I ever make it across this nightmare of a pole I would have to jump from said moving pole to grab hold of a metal bar and make my way from there using only my arm and finger strength.

Knowing my limits, I decided to instead crawl about three quarters down the net wall and jump as far as I could from the net. Seeing myself fall a good half a meter short from the distance I would need to go I decided this would be my new training regimen; Abuse my slow rival holding up the line to make it up the net-wall and then train my jumping from net technique.

Eventually having shown my superiority for a good hour and combined with the occasional break in-between I found myself in need of a nap. Thus, I found myself yet again waking to my favorite meal.

After a quick diaper change, I decided to officially declare myself super-efficient, being a biological being that leaves no residual products has to be an achievement of its own. Still not sure where all the nutrition is going I decided it was time to check up on my statistics again. Helps motivate myself seeing the progress, but also a way to analyze what is going on.

Widening my eyes momentarily I found my strength having gone up by 0.28 and followed closely with dexterity having gone up by 0.26 those being amazing gains compared to previous days I was sure my body was putting the extra nutrition to good use.

On another note my agility had gone up by 0.13, chakra increased by 0.11, control went up with 0.04 and lastly, my perception had been pushed up by 0.03, making it my second stat to reach a value above 1. Thus, my biggest stat was now intellect and perception, respectively being 1.24 and 1.01.

At this speed, I predicted my strength reaching 1 or above the next day and dexterity being only about half a day behind. Agility would not take much longer either as, as soon as my strength and dexterity were high enough to get up the net-wall quick while other kids were tangling in it I would be able to push my speed and by extension my agility.

Still could not be sure why my chakra was climbing at the speed it was, but with my body getting stronger this quickly I suspected it being my yang chakra increasing.

Making my way towards the playroom, I caught myself again remembering to explore the second half of the hallway, thus turning left instead of my usual right. Finding a similar placement of doorframes as the other half, I figured it would be a mirrored hallway.

Turned out wrong, but mostly right. On the same side as my own sleeping quarters, I found another doorframe leading into another big room filled with small beds, this room was obviously occupied with clothes thrown around, as well as bedding being undone on most of the beds.

The other side of the hallway was however not taken up by a room with shelves and necessities; rather it looked like a cafeteria filled with benches and tables. There was however not any obvious access to a kitchen, so I could not see any way food could be made and distributed.

'There goes my dream for better food' I tragically sighed to myself.

Figuring the end hall door would net me a similar response as the opposite side of the corridor I turned around and spent the rest of my day trying to increase my speed at the net-wall as well as increasing the length at which I could jump from a non-static object.

By the end of the day, I had only increased the length of my net-jump by a few centimeters, but I had become proficient enough at net climbing, that I could now slowly make my way up the wall even with other kids knocking the net around.

Making my way back to bed after having been made to leave the playroom, I exhaustedly fell asleep, forgetting to meditate.

Another chapter in the bag. Hope ya'll enjoy, more to come whenever I have the time and energy to write.

Thanks once more for all the support.

Note: I'm replacing the chapter titles with roman numbers. I can't keep the average gag running, and from experience they kind of function as spoilers anyway.
