Capítulo 6: Chapter 5: An Old Scythe
{Ruby's POV}
Summer: "I still can't believe you beat Qrow with just one move."
Ruby: "Maybe Qrow was rusty?"
Raven: "Him and Taiyang train a lot so that's not possible."
Ruby: "Oh then uh.. I don't know."
It has been almost a year since I met Summer and the others. For the first month I slept in one of the student dorm rooms, it was temporary obviously. Here and there I went on a few missions with Summer and her team. I was saving up to get my own place up until Summer suggested I live with Raven. At first I thought it to be a bad idea but surprisingly Raven welcomed me to her home with open arms. Her daughter Yang is so adorable and playful, she's a smart one too. Every morning Yang wakes me up so that we can hangout and do a bunch of activities together. Taiyang, Yang's father, is a very kind and cool person though when he goes out to drink with Qrow they get pretty wild. It's funny seeing how those two act when drunk, feels like I'm watching a sitcom.
Raven: "Your power is insane Ruby, with just a single attack you nearly destroyed the basement floor."
Ruby: "I guess I must have been a powerful fighter in my previous life."
Summer: "Maybe, we should head back to beacon, Oz has requested to see us three and Qrow. He says it's urgent."
Ruby: "Let's not keep him waiting then.. wait but I want to finish my food first."
Raven: "You can finish eating in the ship."
Ruby: "Oh yeah.. well on second thought nevermind."
Raven shrugs in response to what I said. Summer stood up and put lien on the table, which is the currency of this world, then we got up and left the restaurant. Before heading to our destination we went to a book store named Tucson's Book Trade. Summer got a few comics for Taiyang, Raven was just browsing, I went to ring the little bell on the front desk after waiting a few minutes.
Tucson: "Give me a minute I'll be right there."
Ruby: "Okay!"
Summer picks up a magazine and has a mischievous look on her face.
Summer: "Hey Raven looky here, some eye candy for you."
Raven took a look at what Summer is holding,
Raven: "Summer.. that's not eye candy."
Ruby: "Says the one with a nosebleed."
Immediately I get a book thrown at my face,
Ruby: "Ouch my nose!"
Raven: "Look who has a nosebleed now"
Summer: "Well you did throw a book at her face."
Ruby: "Which hurt like hell by the way!"
Tucson: "Um.. does anyone need help looking for a book?"
Summer: "Nope we have what we want."
Ruby: "Yep"
Tucson: "I see, that'll be three lien cards."
Summer gave him four lien cards,
Summer: "Keep the change"
Tucson: "Thank you come again."
We leave the book store and finally head to our destination.
Ruby: "What time is it?"
Summer: "It's six thirty"
Ruby: "Oh right on time"
Sounds of an atlas drop ship approach us, lands in front of us, the door descended open and James Ironwood came out. I met him only a handful of times but only in the drop ships. We walk inside to sit down, the door closed and the ship quickly takes off.
Ruby: "Our pilot is speeding, is there a reason behind that or-"
I was cut off by Ironwood,
Ironwood: "I told the pilot we were in a hurry. Ozpin isn't telling me what's going on but I can tell it's urgent just by the look on his face."
Ruby: "Right..."
Since we were in town even speeding a ship to beacon should take at least six or eight minutes, they are not very fast. I lay my head on Raven's lap,
Ruby: "Wake me when we get to beacon."
Raven nodded and began to caress my hair. A few minutes later I fall asleep. When I came to I was on a bench in Beacon's courtyard but nobody was around. Raven must have carried me here instead of waking me, why? I mean I am a heavy sleeper but not so much that I'm unable to be woken up. I get up and I walk toward the tower ahead of me, strange that nobody is around. I walk inside the tower only to see it empty, what the hell is going on where could everyone be?
I take the elevator up to Ozpin's office. I hear a woman's voice, she's humming. The elevator door opens to reveal nobody, just another empty room. I still hear a woman's voice emanating from Ozpin's chair. I walk up to it and turn the chair around, as soon as I saw it empty the humming stopped. Now I feel like I'm in a horror movie, please don't scare the crap out of me writer.. I hate pop-ups.
??: "We finally meet"
I instantly turn around to see a woman in black with white hair and red eyes. Her voice scared the shit out of me, not literally though.
Ruby: "Fuck you writer, I'll remember this!"
??: "Writer?"
Ruby: "Ignore what I just said it's irrelevant. By the way you look like a final boss."
The woman has a curious look on her face.
Ruby: "um are you okay? You've been staring at me for a minute now."
??: "You're a peculiar one, are you not afraid of me?"
Ruby: "No, why should I be, is there a reason I should be afraid of you?"
??: "Well no but all usually are. My name is Salem, I have been looking for you for quite some time now."
I have heard much about Salem from Ozpin. I find it weird that she was looking for me. Why would she be looking for me anyway, does she know I'm not from this world? Does she know I'm a Yin? Does she know I'm searching for my Yang counterpart? There is so much she may know I need to get it out of her somehow.. Fuck it I'll use his name as an approach.
Ruby: "Salem huh, Ozpin has told me quite a bit of stories about you."
Salem: "We do have history but let's not converse over my past with him."
Ruby: "Oh okay, so why have you been searching for me?"
Salem: "Not a matter I wish to discuss in here. Besides we don't have much time in here anyway so I'll make this short."
There goes me getting any information.
Ruby: "Okay"
Way to cut it short writer, I need information from her, jerk.
Salem: "Through magic I'll give you the location of my domain. When you arrive three of my subordinates will escort you to me."
Three will escort me, does she suspect I'll try something on her? If I did then I'll never find out why she was looking for me. Whatever I guess I'll play along.
Ruby: "Since you're telling me this I can only guess that you're not really here, right?"
She grew a small grin on her face and began to glow.
Ruby: "Oh jeez I know where this is going. I should have known this was a dream."
A few seconds after glowing she exploded, I shot up from Raven's lap waking from my short slumber.
Raven: "Bad dream?"
Ruby: "Something like that.."
Raven: "Well you awoke just in time, we're here."
The airship door opens, I sigh and get up from my seat to stretch. After that me, Summer, and Raven walk out of the ship and head to Ozpin's office. We get inside the building and enter the elevator,
Salem: "Don't keep me waiting."
The location Salem gave me is one I've never set foot on but through her magic I know exactly where it is and how to get there. I don't know what she wants from me but I guess I'll find out after I'm done with whatever urgent task Ozpin might give us. I yawn, the elevator door opens. I see Qrow and Ozpin with a worried look on their face.
Ruby: "Still tired make it quick."
Raven flicks my forehead,
Raven: "This is important so wake up."
Ozpin clears his throat and put his scroll onto his desk. He stood up from his seat and walked over to the window.
Ozpin: "Qrow show them what you found."
Qrow took out his scroll and placed it on Ozpin's desk. An image of a weapon projects forward in front of me, it's a rose pink scythe. This weapon looks familiar, that shouldn't be possible this is my first time looking at this weapon yet it doesn't feel like it.
Summer: "It's a scythe"
Raven: "What's so special about it?"
Qrow: "It's just a story I've heard a few times now but to put it short this weapon has been around longer then any of the four kingdoms."
Ozpin: "And judging by Ruby's reaction she must know the wielder of this scythe."
Everyone looked at me for a response.
Ruby: "It's my first time seeing this weapon."
Qrow: "This is crazy Oz there is no way sh-"
I cut Qrow off, "but it looks familiar. The scythe's wielder however is something I have no memory of." Ozpin's eyes widened, I have never seen him express such a reaction other then that day I beat Qrow.
Ozpin: "This is immense, this discovery can be the very salvation humanity and the Faunus need. The grimm and Salem can be destroyed using that very scythe right there. All we have to do is obtain it."
Raven: "I know about that story Qrow mentioned, it's merely a myth. How can you be so sure about this?"
Qrow: "And so was the story of the maidens and magic but Oz so greatly proved us wrong there."
Summer: "I guess we'll never know if the myth is true or not until we see this weapon's capabilities up close. Do you have a location?"
Ozpin: ....
Ruby: "Ozpin where is the scythe?"
Ozpin: "The problem right now is that Qrow was unable to get near the scythe because it is guarded by two grimm of unknown origin. A pair that even I don't know about. We need a plan before approaching this."
Ruby: "I'll deal with them on my own now tell me the location of this scythe."
Qrow: "It's located near the very place humanity can't set foot on unless they want to be grimm food."
Ozpin: "You're not considering to go there without help are you?"
Ruby: "I'll be fine on my own, have James ready a drop ship in five minutes."
Raven: "Whoa slow down Ruby, why are you in such a rush to get this weapon all of a sudden?"
"Come to me"
I quickly turn around and walk to the elevator. Raven blocks my path by holding both of my shoulders. I look up to her and make eye contact,
Ruby: "Do you remember those dreams I told you about? I have to do this Raven please."
She stood silent for a few seconds, she lessened her grip on my shoulders then gave me a hug.
Raven: "I understand, come back to me safe okay?"
I embrace her hug, "I will don't worry." We break away and I press the button to call for the elevator.
Qrow: "So we're just going to let her go off by herself?"
The elevator door opens and I walk in, "Yes you are, this isn't something for any of you to be involved in trust me."
The elevator door closed, I use my hands to lightly slap both of my cheekbones.
Ruby: "Okay.. the time is finally here. Time to get some answers."
