Capítulo 45: Regret, part 3

Snow gave one big lunge, souring through the air. In that moment, with the wind all around her, she could see half the kingdom, with lights shining out of homes with families enjoying the little food they can get in these parts of the kingdom.

And just little further Snow could see where the line of broken houses stopped, and where a new line of different houses began. They are the homes of the rich, where food is a never ending source.

Snow landed on her feet on the next rooftop, instantly missing the feeling of the wind all around her. She looked back to where Nate stood, smiling confidently at him.

"Think you can jump better, Nate?" Snow taunted.

"I know I can do better than you, princess. You forget, I've been at this for a while."

Nate jumped and soured through the sky. With his sliver necklace tucked inside his shirt, and his black leather jacket flapping behind him, he landed a few feet infront of Snow.

"How is that for you?" Nate said, smiling broadly, obviously very pleased with himself. Snow rolled her eyes at him, not saying anything.

"What? Is the princess mad that she got beaten?"

Snow gave a little snort.

"In your dreams." She scoffed.

"You should watch out then, my dreams usually come true." Nate said smirking.

Snow surpressed a laugh, but settled for a smile, shaking her head.

"The competition is not over yet." Snow said, her gaze wandering around the area. "You never did say what you were doing out here," Snow said, finally letting her gaze rest on Nate.

Nate watched her for a few seconds, and Snow wondered what he was thinking the whole time.

"Oh, you know, this and that." Nate waved the question off, stuffing one of his hands in his front jean pocket. He let his gaze wander over the area.

Snow lifted her brow and crossed her arms.

"And that is?" Snow asked, she tried to hide the suspicion in her voice, but that didn't stop the train of thoughts that entered her mind. She knew Nate wasn't a saint, obviously, but he wouldn't be involved in illegal stuff would he? Not that she can actually be certain, as she doesn't know him that well.

Nate's smirk returned when his gaze stopped at Snow.

"I can see the gears turning in your head, princess." Nate said, twirling his finger in a circular motion to emphisize his point. "Come on, we still have a competition to get on with." He turned his back on Snow before she can say anything else, and leaped to the next building that was a bit higher than the one they were standing on. The vines almost completely covered the building, and it looked like it might crumble down any moment.

Snow decided to drop the subject, because she could clearly see he didn't want to talk about it.

The sky was completely covered in dark clouds, and it might just be that Nate was right, rain and snow was on its way, and the strong gust of wind that blew in from the North, was just more evidence to prove it.

Snow also leaped of the building, and to put more power into her jump, she did a single somersault, before landing on the next building. This time, landing right next to Nate.

"Not bad for a princess." Nate teased.

"I'm not a princess." Snow growled, shooting daggers at Nate, which, of course doesn't affect him all, it only caused him to smile bigger.

"But you will be someday." Nate said, giving one step toward Snow.

"You don't know that," Snow said, giving a step back, as she didn't want to lead him on or anything, "And any way, it is a competition." She brushed past Nate and moved toward the edge of the building. She could see broken windows on the next building to which you could easily grab onto. The distance between the two buildings was wider, as a road separated them, but that didn't stop the plan that was beginning to form, and what made it easier was, the hight of the buildings was the same.

"Really now? And what does that mean." Nate's voice came up behind Snow, as he also made his way to the edge.

Snow turned around with a mischievous smirk and glint in her eyes.

"It means I always win." Snow dropped of the edge, arms spread out. Nate rushed to the edge as he didn't quite make it there yet before, and peered down to see Snow gliding down the building before pushing herself off with tremendous strength and grabbing onto one of the windows' edge on the next building.

Snow then made her way to the top, and lunged the last bit of the distance that was left, before landing on her hands on the edge and doing a cartwheel, landing on her feet again.

She turned back to see Nate standing near the edge, with his mouth half open in amazement, before turning it into his usual smirk.

"So we're bringin' out the big guns now, aren't we?" Nate shouted, smiling one of his very rare smiles.

He took a few steps back to get a running start. His face was serious as he calculated how far the jump is, and then he ran. He stepped on the edge of the building and lunged himself into the air.

Nate soared through the air, but the strength that he had put into the jump, wasn't enough. He missed the edge of the building by a couple of centimeters. He began to tumble toward the ground, but didn't make it far when he suddenly stopped. Nate felt magic surround him, and when he looked around he saw that he was floating in the air.

"Need a hand?" Snow asked from above. She was lying on her tummy with her hand stretched out. It was her turn to smirk, but it didn't last long as Snow began to grit her teeth.

"You never cease you amaze me, princess." Nate grabbed Snow's hand and, with the help of her powers, she heaved him up onto the building's rooftop.

"Yeah well, I don't know if I could've hold you much longer." Snow heaved. Both of them was lying on their back. Nate sat upright watching Snow catching her breath.

"You're still weak." Nate said softly, but he didn't ask, he stated.

"Yeah, my powers haven't completely restored yet. I really tired them out yesterday." Snow said, also sitting up. "To think, it was only yesterday that my life came crumbling down. It feels so long ago." Snow's gaze slowly wandered around her.

Nate watched her closely. He could see the burden she was bearing on her shoulders and wished he could help her somehow, but she keeps him at arms length. Nate sighed before pushing himself off the floor

"Come on, I didn't bring you here to dwell on the past and blame yourself for what happend."

Snow looked up at Nate and saw that he had extended his hand toward her. She hesitated slightly before taking his hand and Nate helped her up.

From there they jumped from building to building, laughing, joking and teasing each other. Sometimes they would show off to each other, and also fail a couple of times, but that did not stop the fun they had, and soon Snow forgot the pain and sorrow she felt earlier that day.
