Sanvi said, "Virat, it's getting noisy here. It's better we get back to our room."
Virat nodded since the sounds of people, music and fireworks increased because of which they couldn't hear each other properly.
They carefully climbed down the rocks. They started walking along the edges of the beach towards their hotel since it was very crowded with spectators enjoying the scintillating display of fireworks lighting up the dark sky.
There were sounds of excited giggling and laughter as boisterous groups of people were dispersed among the crowd. They carried drinks in their hand and danced around. Some pretended to be drunk and took advantage of women around them.
Virat protectively hugged Sanvi from behind not letting anyone touch or harm her and led her out of the crowded area. For an outsider, it looked like a protective lover taking away his love safely.
At that time, Sanvi again felt the rush of conflicted emotions. 'Why are you doing this to me Virat? How can you expect me to remain emotionless even at such times?' She bit her lips and controlled herself.
Since Maya was the one who had booked the party package, she had booked just a single room for Virat and herself. Also the entire hotel was fully booked for the New year. So, Sanvi and Virat had to share the same room.
On reaching the entrance, the receptionist there asked Virat, "Sir, Maya Virat?"
"Yes! I'm Virat. She's Maya." He said to the receptionist.
"Sir, hope you liked the city lights show. Since our hotel organised it, and as winners of the contest could you please give your feedback and also put in some good reviews as well about our hotel here Sir." She handed over a book to Virat.
"When was this planned actually? She gave me a huge surprise." Virat started questioning the receptionist
"Sir, actually it was booked on 31st October, that is, two months ago. We'd this contest planned by our hotel. The winner of the contest could get a complimentary couple party pass inclusive of food, drink, stay plus the city lights show. Since Madam won the contest, she got to express her love for you. Hope you enjoyed the show." She spoke eloquently putting on her warm receptionist smile.
Since Virat couldn't get any further information he just filled up the information thanked her and left.
After heading back to their room, Virat said, "I'll shower and get back. You can rest on the bed Sanvi. I'll sleep on the couch."
Sanvi didn't say a word and just nodded. So Virat directly went to the bathroom.
Sanvi decided to change into her pajamas while Virat was inside the bathroom. She unzipped her gown which fell to the floor. She was now only in her lingerie.
Virat had forgotten to take his toiletries and towel. Hence, he came back to find Sanvi changing her dress.
"Virattt!" She screamed.
Virat hurriedly went back to the washroom. "How would I know that you were changing? Before you misunderstand, I just came out to get my toiletries and towel. Please pass it on once you're done."
Sanvi took a while to relax. She was burning with embarrassment. She hurriedly put on her pajamas and scurried Virat's bag to search for his toiletries and towel.
She walked towards the bathroom, "Here!" She passed them to him and got into the bed and covered herself with the comforter and pretended to have fallen asleep.
Virat was so preoccupied with thoughts on Maya that he failed to recognise the emotional turmoil going on within Sanvi. He came back to find Sanvi fast asleep. He actually wanted to talk to her. Disappointed, he rested on the couch. But neither of them fell asleep. They turned and tossed about unable to fall asleep.
Virat spoke up with a raspy voice, "Not able to fall asleep?"
Sanvi's softly replied, "No!"
"Come, let's talk then." Virat suggested.
"Okay!" Sanvi agreed.
Both got up and went to the bar counter in their room. Sanvi took two glasses and poured their drink.
"Cheers!" They clinked glasses and began drinking.
"Sanvi, I need to confess something to you." Virat opened his mouth to speak after taking their first sip.
Sanvi's heart began racing on hearing the word "confess."
